Photography Class

My brother and I are signing up for a photography class thru the local community college. I e-mailed the instructor to see if it would be OK to skip the beginner's course because I feel fairly comfortable with the basics of the camera. He said it's a lecture course about learning the camera, settings, and the correlation between them (The agenda is essentially the 'Understand Exposure' book which I have read and re-read Wink ) The class I signed up for is an extension of the basics course, where we put principles to practice.

It will mostly be field trips to spots around the city. We'll practice nature, action, close-up, architecture, night, and travel photography. The instructor even said we'd try some macro photography!

It just stinks there will be no people photography Sad I need help with that part....

I'm just happy to have some one on one instruction on composition and settings. Something I haven't had and have just been flying by the seat of my pants!

Has anyone else taken a photography class? If you have, what was your experience? If you haven't, would you like to?

gosh yes I'd love to take a photography class! Smile we actually did look into some for myself here where we live but they are all in Norwegian and well it would be a waste of money because I don't understand 100% Norwegian Sad that made me sad. There weren't any in English either. I'd love to take something like you are taking though. I am sure you'll be able to use it later when practicing on people! Smile how neat! Hopefully someday I'll be able to sign up for photography classes somewhere!

I just spoke with my friend about signing up for one. The one you signed up for sounds very exciting! I also have read understanding exposure and after my third time reading it, I am finally understanding it now:) I however NEED the beginner's class. Let us know how it goes Smile

I was just looking at the photography classes offered by my local CC. They offer a class specifically on portrait photography, but the beginner's class is a prerequisite. That's ok, because I obviously need that beginners class. But, i'm excited that there's a class just on portraiture.

COOL! I hope you get a lot out of it! I would love to learn night photography though. Let us know how it goes. That's cool that you are doing it with your brother!
