Photos from ILP GTG ... CC welcome (pic heavy)

Here are a few pictures from the ILP GTG on Sunday. If you're a Flickr friend of mine, you can see more (if you feel like it) - there's a set on my photostream for them.

1. One of my favorites ... this kid was just too cute for words
Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/320)
Aperture: f/3.2
Focal Length: 67 mm
ISO Speed: 200

2. Had serious backlighting going on most of the time ... and I could have benefited from a reflector here. I can't seem to get this kiddo's coloring right. Sad
Exposure: 0.004 sec (1/250)
Aperture: f/3.2
Focal Length: 67 mm
ISO Speed: 200

3. The kids spent most of the time playing in the dirt and the rocks. This picture totally reflects Natalie during the 2 hours we were there.
Exposure: 0.003 sec (1/320)
Aperture: f/6.3
Focal Length: 28 mm
ISO Speed: 400

4. We had a bride and groom show up (they were married 5 years ago, actually, and brought their two daughters). Do you like the warmth of the setting sun here or does it take away from the photo?

Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 63 mm
ISO Speed: 200

5. I know they're centered here ... I didn't think to play with the crop while editing, and even playing with the crop, I don't think I could avoid centering.
Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 35 mm
ISO Speed: 400

6. What do you think of the conversion?
Exposure: 0.006 sec (1/160)
Aperture: f/3.2
Focal Length: 54 mm
ISO Speed: 400

7. Would love cropping ideas here ... just don't know how to best present this one. I love this one, but I'm aware that's probably mommy goggles. There was a soda bottle on the right (her left) but I cloned it out. Can you tell?

8. The sun was setting here (which is why the color is more red) ... Jordan wanted nothing to do with Natalie at this point, which is why I cropped most of her face. Does the crop work for this photo? I love Natalie in it (again, mommy goggles)

Exposure: 0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture: f/3.2
Focal Length: 28 mm
ISO Speed: 800

12. So you can see the cowboy boots ... (I'm bummed that this one came out soft)

Exposure: 0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture: f/3.5
Focal Length: 28 mm
ISO Speed: 400

11. Caught this on the walk back to the car ...

Exposure: 0.013 sec (1/80)
Aperture: f/6.3
Focal Length: 28 mm
ISO Speed: 800

Nice.

Really like #1, he is a cutie.

I like #4 the best but your conversion on # 6 is great, the whites are a little shiny for my liking though.

I wish I could go to a meet up like this Biggrin

looks like you had fun

Love the conversion on #6! Really nice, Gwen. Gives it a true timeless feel. Were it my wedding, I'd have to consider this one for canvas. Smile

Best,
GiGi

Great job on these. I want to do an ILP get together.

#1 and #3 are my favorites. Bummer about #12....that would have been perfect if you'd nailed the focus.

#1...great eyes...you could brighten his skin a touch more so our attention isn't so easily pulled to the bright green grass. He could also use some skin smoothing or healing on the uneven skin on his forehead and cheeks.

#2...cute boy! Wish he were looking at camera...of course. His skin needs to be brightened up and warmed up a touch I think. Also...it's okay to blow some hair highlights when backlighting, but looks like you've blown a bit too much. That blond hair is a stinker....just had the exact same problem with my most recent headshot session.

#3. I love this...I wouldn't change a thing.

#4. I like the warmth, but I do think she's a touch too orange....just a touch. She may be a bit too dark as well. Tough shot!

#5. I don't mind a centered shot at all in portrait orientation...but I do think that you should crop them in a little closer. The grass is lovely, but the sky is too uninteresting to have so much of it.

#6 would be great if she were looking at you. Is her dress blown? I think you may have too much contrast in this conversion...or just too white whites.

#7 a very sweet snap. Nice clone job..I couldn't tell.

#8 Effective crop...I never would have noticed her sour puss if you hadn't mentioned it. She looks so sweet.

thanks for the detailed CC, Amber, I really appreciate it! I'm going to redo a couple of those when I'm done the current set I'm working on.

on the conversion, I did pop the whites more, so I will pull them back. they're not blown SOOC.

Don't have much time, but I will CC a few!
1) ADORABLE kid! great eyes and I like the slight angle!
4) LOVE the warming effect here. Well done!
12) I agree with Amber on this one. Still, good job!

Here are my edits ... I only edited a small handful since nothing will be done with the photos, ya know? I'm happy with my edit of Owen, so I really appreciate your CC on that one, Amber.
