Default Photos from Laniakea Beach and Waimea Valley PIC HEAVY

Lots of pics, but these were from my first 'real' photoshoot with the D5000 (first time I took it off of auto ). Feel free to CC any of them and feel free to edit any of them.

Someone suggested cropping this picture because of the brown spot in the upper right corner. Here's the crop

#4 is the only one I have an ISO for, the rest didn't come up on Picasa. :S

I believe he is a green sea turtle. Check out this link to learn about him. His name is Brutus (L1), he's the first guy on this page

Me too The first beach that Chris and I stopped on when we moved to Hawaii was Laniakea Beach, where that picture was taken. I can't go to the North Shore without stopping on that beach, even for just a short visit. It's also the beach where we had a memorial for a friend who was killed in action in Iraq back in November. The beach holds a special place in my heart, and that's where all the sea turtles always come ashore

Me too, especially since I can get my DD to sit still for long enough to get any good pics of her.

Okay, I'm jealous!!!! Beautiful photos--they make me want to visit Hawaii very soon! The turtle is my favorite; I love the composition, and you've captured all the interesting wrinkles and lines in his skin and shell very nicely.

I'm curious to know what lens you used for the shots. If these shots are typical of the subject matter that interests you, I'd encourage you to put a macro lens on your wish list!

My only CC would be to suggest a slightly tighter crop on #2. The bokeh is nice but the brownish-white patch in the upper right is drawing my eye away from the lizard.
