Picking up my camera again...

I have been in a funk lately. Distracted. Discouraged. Not really feeling it. Not really trying to improve myself. I'm still in a funk but I picked up my camera today when we went out. I took some ok pictures. I am still not satisfied with what I have. I will be sharing some soon I promise. Smile It has been awhile! I do apologize for just disappearing. Stuff happens I guess. I haven't been in a photography mood lately. AT all! I don't know what is wrong with me. Does this happen to any of you? I pick up my camera and I kind of try to take a good photo but I have been taking mostly snaps lately. This year I took our family photos. Forget about going to some studio and spending all that money and my hair end up being really messy. Smile No thanks! I am finally editing some photos from this summer. I have also been discouraged lately because besides my own two kids I have no one to practice on. I don't feel too confident yet and the last person I offered to take pictures of told me she wasn't interested. It was the whole "the camera takes good pictures" thing going on with that situation. Just wanted to drop by and say hi. I will try to post more often and participate more. Sorry I haven't been much of a mod lately. Really am sorry about that but Stacey seems to be doing great! Smile

Anyway, I got CS4 not long ago and just barely opened it to edit some pictures. Boy I feel like i'm learning it all over again! And when my computer crashed I lost all my actions. I lost one really neat one for eye popping. I forgot the way I did it. The one with a 50% gray layer. And I don't remember if it was a tutorial I learned it from or if it was an action I had that did it for me. :-? Anyone know that one? I loved it so much. I just forgot how to do it! Could any one help me out? Smile would appreciate it. As soon as I'm done editing these photos of mine I will share a few. (might take awhile at the pace I'm going at right now) It is kind of hard at the moment because cs4 is so different but yet the same. So many new things. It's kind of annoying but I'm sure i'll get used to it eventually. Biggrin Thank you ladies!

Hear you on the CS4, very overwhelming.

Just keep at it!

Hope you get some more photo ops soon and you get out of your funk!

Glad to hear you're getting back in the saddle, so to speak. I think we all go through stages like that (I'm having one of those seasons here at work right now).

Hang in there and I can't wait to see your shots.

Best,

I totally understand. I get in those funks, too... and I get so tired of practicing on my family (and I think the feeling is mutual on their part, too.. haha!) Anyway, I'm sorry about your computer crashing and losing all of your actions. I wish I could offer to help you learn CS4, but I still use CS2. :?

I hope your funk is over, though, and I can't wait to see your new pics. Keep your chin up!

thanks Smile

I think when it comes to photography, I worry too much about the technicalities instead of just taking a well exposed picture so I have been trying to just take pictures for the heck of taking pictures and have sort of been working on exposure. Still getting to know my camera when it comes to exposure. It's getting easier. Smile

I think that snapshots are underrated. I honestly think that snaps show what everyday life is like for your family which is the most important thing to me in my own photography. Most of what I consider are my best pics would be called snaps, at least on ILP.

Yeah...I've been in several funks! I see such amazing photos and doubt myself all the time, but I am so grateful to have such lovely snaps of my boy. Glad you're picking up that camera again. It doesn't have to be any more pressure than you want it to be.

true Smile

I think I am putting too much pressure on myself. And I never go anywhere around here. (I let me DH know what I thought about that one! He never wants to go anywhere on weekends but I do because I am stuck here all week long since I have no drivers license here). This past weekend though we went to a nice place (see siggy) and I saw lots of photo ops there Smile Wish Mikael was walking already so I can take cute photos of him. Didn't get many good ones of him. So all my pics are usually here at home. Boring Blum 3 just snaps. No lovely studio pics. I need to get a little more creative I think.

I've been wondering about you Loida, glad you are back!

CS4 is great, just takes some getting used to. Once you're comfortable you'll never want to look back!

hey Loida! I had wondered why you weren't posting here. That stinks about the funk. But the only way really out of that one is to pick up the camera, just like you're doing. I hear ya on the properly exposed picture - sometimes I get caught up in the details too.

Anyhow, can you get a driver's license there? I think it would really suck be to be confined. What's in walking distance of you?

I'm really looking forward to seeing your latest, I'm sure they're better than you think they are. Wink

thanks ladies Smile i'll see about editing a few more and then posting some on here. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get some free time to edit a few. I've been working with clay lately and hopefully I can post some of those creations as well since I want to take proper photos of them. Smile
Gwen, I can get my license here but it's gonna cost me like $800 to get so we have to wait until we can afford it. It's crazy expensive for a drivers license. I can't just go in and take a test and leave Blum 3 darn! I have to take a couple drivers exams like driving on ice and driving at night and then the written exam and I'm not sure what else. someday ill have it though. I go for walks around here sometimes but its so boring. Same old thing Blum 3 but i should get better at just taking pictures around the area. gotta learn how to see creatively.
