I am currently without my really good monitor for a while That means I have to use the stinky laptop to edit.. it's calibrated- but it's still a laptop. I'm going nuts here. Color and all that is of interest here- I'm trying to follow CMYK #'s but I'm struggling a little, I think. The mom is anxious to see these... so I want to make sure I'm on the right track. Thank you so much!!
I am hesitant to finish PP'ing until I can get a few second opinions- CC anything at all- much appreciated. thanks a ton
(PTE if you want- please just tell me what you did, because it would really help...)
BTW: this NB was a huge challenge... she didn't want to sleep in any of my poses... we had white noise, heater, pacifier and everything possible... and she was only 3 days old! I had a 10 day old once that was a DREAM. I guess it all depends on the baby, but they were here for 4 hours and a combined 3 of those hours were spent with baby at the boob... *sigh*

I like this. I cant CC skintones or anything but for some reason the empty space on the left is bugging me here.. Maybe its cos the blanket stops and the left part just doesnt seem to be part of the picture.
I'll have a look and a shot at editing tomorrow morning.
I wish it was more of a closeup to get a better idea of the skintone. is the background supposed to be white? because it's very off-white. I'm hesitate to comment until I know more about that. but from here baby actually looks fine, it looks like baby skin to me.
that stinks that the baby wouldn't sleep though.

I'm not calibrated, so I'm not much help... but the colors do look good to me. I love this shot, too. At first the blanket (or rug?) ending there bothered me, too, but I think it's uniqe and cute!
Meagan, thank you for the example. I think I cooled it too much in Lightroom, so I guess I didn't leave it as custom WB... I've already decided to reprocess all of these back from square 1... I love how warm the Bone looks in your photo.. however, the actual paper does not look quite that warm to me... did you add a honey tone at all?
Very quick example....it's a little small to work with, so I just did two things:
Baby looked (and numbers read) too yellow to me. So...in color balance layer I added magenta and reduced red in the midtones. I moved the sliders 8 towards magenta and 10 towards cyan.
Then I did an overlay layer at 8% opacity.

No, no honey added. My roll looks pretty warm though in person. Maybe it's just a lighting difference, b/c I do think that can make a big difference. I was using natural light + reflector (silver side). The WB was untouched PP though, and any color changes I made were strictly to the baby's skin.
Not to say mine is perfect AT ALL, I feel that is how I'm coming off, sorry! I just know bone isn't *that* gray IRL.
