I've been cleaning out old files on my computer today, and I came across this old picture that I took almost exactly a year ago. I decided to have another go at post processing it.
I'm amazed at two things...1. how bad I did the first time....and 2. How much better I've gotten at post processing.
I must resist the urge to go back and re-do all my old edits. It would take an eternity.
Old Edit:
Today's:
I wonder if in a another year I'll be laughing at the post processing I did today.
Looks fabulous! So, what do you think you're doing differently?Did you run it through noiseware? That's the only thing I think I can pin down. Hmm, that and the exposure on his face? Really inspiring me to get out of my rut though and just take pics because eventually & hopefully pping will catch up with me!
Well you are the GURU!!
Love your work

Just seeing this now, and I love the redo!![]()
Thanks for bumping Amy! I missed this too and had to comment! I looks great Amber...amazing how are skills and tastes change and grow as we grow as photographers. I see contrast bump, fixed exposure and adjusted skin a bit. This was before the Mark II so the noise was reduced in processing too. Nathan sure has changed a bunch in a year tooIs it time for an anniversary post soon? I love those....

Oh wow! I hope someday I can look back and see that kind of growth!
This was a while ago so I don't remember everything I changed...but I do remember some. Yes, I ran noisware (neat image), but I actually did much more. First off...I processed mostly in ACR rather than doing most of the work in CS4. I used to do global contrast boosts, but now I'm doing more localized contrast boosts...so the background got contrast, but his face did not, I may have actually reduced the contrast to his face. I also did not touch his eyes in the re-edit. I feel like his eyes are over done in the first image. I'm sure that I played with the color...mostly in ACR and then touched up in CS4, taking yellow out of the shadows, checking color balance numbers etc...
