Quick color check please

I took this of my neighbor last night at the elementary school. The light was just good, and she looked so pretty standing there. She loved the photo when I showed it to her in camera, and then said that she actually needs a photo of herself for something. Anyhow, when I was editing it, I kept seeing green in her hair highlights. I didn't go back to ACR, just did a color balance to pull some green out and then I added a tiny bit of yellow. How does she look, in terms of color?

Exposure 0.005 sec (1/200)
Aperture f/2.5
Focal Length 50 mm
ISO Speed 100

I'm not calibrated but she looks pretty good colour wise to me. I can see how the hair would have been difficult though, so good job!

I think you did well on her hair. It looks a little underexposed to me and at first I thought it was SOOC Smile I think you could play it a little more and really make it fun.

I'm not seeing green, but it does seem a tad under exposed and lacking a bit of your usual pop. Maybe a soft light later (at really low opacity) would bring it out.

Best,
GiGi

Yup, I was thinking it just needs to be brightened a tad.

i think you could go much brighter than that actually Smile up the exposure and maybe add a little bit of fill light in ACR. Brighten it up a bit.

really? I'm playing with it yet again, I just don't know why I'm not loving it brighter. but I'll redo my edits on a new version (as I did some skin smoothing at her request Wink ) and will post it later. gotta get the kids to bed first. I am in consignment sale prep mode, so I'm behind on my family edits. gotta get my clothes all tagged so have been spending less time on the computer. fingers crossed that I'm done by Wednesday!

Okay, I couldn't wait until the kids were in bed. Here's another edit. Better?

The 3rd is best yet. Care to post a SOOC for plays?

sure, let me know if this works. it's not the original size, but it's big enough to play. not sharpened for web, and I did add my watermark. you'll see that I didn't quite nail the focus on her eyes ...

here's post ACR - http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4086/5052478401_1b7de8a358_o.jpg

And completely SOOC - http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4089/5052478229_e1030c5e28_o.jpg

I had a play,

5052478401_1b7de8a358_o copy

Raised exposure on just the darks, selective color added back some black (might have gone a tad overboard on those 2), 8% dodge on whites and iris of eyes, noiseware, USM, saved for web.

I think I prefer your 3rd edit!

I'm torn between your 3rd edit & Kirsten's (nice & clean BTW!).

I like your 3rd edit but I like Kristen's edit overall because it seems to have a little better contrast in the shadows and her face which is nicely brightened. But I prefer your crop.

how's this? I think I'm done playing with it ... I had an actual paying session tonight, so I need to work on that (probably not tonight though)
