Re-introduction

Hi Ladies!

I'm trying to make a come back on the boards after a loooong hiatus. I was TTC with my ex-DH for a few years and didn't get anywhere in the baby department, but did thoroughly enjoy the photography community here. I am now re-married, still TTC and finally got a doc to give me a u/s and diagnose me with PCOS and hope to start clomid or similar course of action in 2011.

So, I'm Lauren, formerly lauren.groom and Eclection Studios Photography & Design. My last name is now Flores and I am now specializing in Maternity, Newborn, Baby, and Child photography as Little Flores Photography. I have be re-branding my studio and portfolio and am about to launch my new website. I also just brought home my new "baby" a Nikon D700 - I'm so proud!

Here's one of my first shots with the D700 of my ::gulp:: almost 11 year old DD

you can preview my new website at LittleFlores.com
I just notified BluDomain to "go live" last night so I expect it to be public this week. So excited!

Also, we founded a pg.org group on Flickr a few years ago and I still moderate it. I only approve users who have an active and relevant pg.org user ID. There are a lot of "oldies" still adding to the pool every now and then, but it would be awesome for those who've come along in the past 1-2 years to join in the fun too!

Hey Lauren! I remember you!!!!! I saw that group on Flickr and didn't know how active it was. I'll definitely join in on that one! Smile Not sure if you remember me, but I've been here (on pg.org) since the beginning, and I know I was posting here on this board when you were still here. Anyhow, I can't believe how old your daughter is! Time flies, doesn't it? She's beautiful!

I'm really behind on EVERYTHING in my life, and posting on this board (among others here) is taking a back seat while I attempt to catch up. But I wanted to reply to this because I'm happy to see you back. Congrats on your new marriage. I really hope that TTC is successful for you in 2011, fingers crossed that Chlomid does the trick.

The group used to be more active, but I'm sure it can be revived. I already approved your request to join Wink

There also was a 365 of PG.org group that's still out there, I don't remember who moderated it. It might be a cool group to join to start the year fresh for anyone who wants to do a 365 seires.

And, holy cow I can't believe Jack is 2!! I remember how you worked and worked his 1 year cake smash with and the white balancing - you didn't give up until you got them perfect! from your siggy pics I can see you have evolved and grown wonderfully! I look forward to seeing more.

That was one of the hardest sets I ever had to edit! Lol I just took down Andrew's 1st communion collage that was in his room and couldn't believe how magenta those photos were. Back in the beginning, I thought I'd NEVER be able to see the colors others were seeing, and now I see them everywhere. Wink

Hi there! I remember you too, but I'm guessing I was at the point of lurking/soaking up as much as possible when you were more active here, so you might not remember me.
Welcome back, and can't wait to take a look at your website!

Welcome back, Lauren!

I'm so glad you've rejoined us! I'm just about to head over and take a look at your website now.

Post some new pics of your DD, I can't believe she's almost 11!

Wow, thanks so so much for the warm welcome. It's good to be back.

Here's two more of Lilli from the other evening

arm chop not withstanding, these are AWESOME! And I don't think it's all 'mommy goggles' on that 2nd shot. She's adorable and a genuine smile makes for a winning photo any day of the week. Love her hat in the first shot - the punch of color really grabs you. And it looks like you are already rocking that D700. Have you noticed any big differences in it? That is the camera I drool over. Smile

Best,
GiGi

It was a big jump in technology from my D50 to the D700 so right now lots of things seem different - two dial control = love it! but that's a feature that's been around a while on the D80 and others in between. The focus control is a lot nicer too. I had 5 auto focus points, now I have 51 points with 3D color channel tracking. I love being able to shoot at any ISO higer than 200 and absolutely no noise. I really want to put my sensor to the test this weekend and try shooting at ISO 6400 and see if I can find noise.
all around it's just 2004 technology vs 2010 thats the biggest differences. It was a big chunk of change to drop at once and on the car ride home I did have a few second thoughts (especially since I don't use credit cards) but once I got my first shots into PS I was sold. I have been drooling over a new body since the D300 came out and was close to buying it when the D700 was released. I decided to wait just a little longer and get essentially a D3 in the D300 body for $2k less than a D3. the D700 really is the best value in it's class. this body investment should last me many years. Once I get my battery grip my focus will be on props, a few more lenses, and maybe some specialty lighting - ring light anyone?
