Thats tricky. The only thing I notice is that your ss is pretty high.I'm sure you wanted to keep the shot from being blown but all I could think of is to lower your ss so then you could go lower on your iso. Then meter for him and adjust. When I shoot something surrounded by light I tend to use my spot meter which you probably did. This is what I do when I do shots of Jazz jumping outside in the sky.
I guess I always have a problem with these types of shots with not blowing my subject as well as the window. I'm noticing his head is misshaped because part of it's blown. So if I lowered my SS, I would imagine even more of him would get blown, and the outline of him would start getting lost.
I'll bet she used strobes (or a bounced flash) there.

That does look like another light sorce was possibly used. Also I could be wrong but those amazing windows look like those filtered ones. You know that thick factory type glass that lets in amazing soft light. Love the look you are going for
There is another photographer who can nail this and I too am totally curious! I would like to find out more!
