Default Several photos with speedlite ... and a color profile question

Okay, here are a few from this morning's attempt to capture Jack in his Halloween costume. (don't ask me what he's supposed to be, I don't have a name for it. He can't walk so I'm not really even taking him trick or treating).

These are the ones I was trying to figure out the WB in ACR with (see my other thread). So I edited in groups (there are about a dozen more that I edited all together). I only tweaked in ACR, did nothing else to these. Wanted a feeling on the skin tones and WB here.

    1. I love this one ... but couldn't do a traditional crop on it. There was too much on either side of him, and I wanted to keep the reflection.
    Exposure: 0.013 sec (1/80)
    Aperture: f/2.5
    Focal Length: 30 mm
    ISO Speed: 400

    2. Changed his shirt

    4. Natalie wanted her picture taken too ... she seems on the warm side to me, but when I tried my Scott Kelby "levels trick" for colors, it came out the same. Part of her eye is blown, and I'm really only posting this for thoughts on color.

And then part two ... Damien pointed out that my color profile info is stripped somehow. I think I narrowed it down to the fact that I rely on Picasa to do my resizing and watermarking. I need to get into the habit of doing it all in PSE, it's just an old habit to use Picasa for batch editing (like resizing a group). So I have two versions here and want to know if YOU see a difference. Images are identical ... well, except I resized and watermarked in two different programs. The Picasa version is also probably slightly sharpened.

cute shots Gwen! I'm on an uncalibrated laptop right now, but just wanted to say that I do see a difference between the picasa and PSE7 version!

Looks good. The comparison at the bottom looks like the top one is sharper and brighter than the second one.

I'm uncalibrated here at work, so take that in mind.

the PSE edit looks more natural to me. picassa seems overly bright and sharp.

that said ... I FREAKIN' LOVE THESE PICTURES!!! Especially the 1st and 3rd ones of Jack. What a guy you've got there, Gwen!!! Love the "mom tattoo" on the first shirt. TOO CUTE! Love the spiked hair and jeans. Just a great look. Looks like he walked off the set of Grease.

The picasa one looks like it has slightly more contrast. Could be from some sharpening that it does?

it could be from the sharpening. I just don't understand the whole color profile thing. I mean, I get how it works, but I don't get how Picasa just ignores it. I have to totally change my routine when it comes to uploading pictures. I'll get used to it, but it's just a challenge.

GiGi - thanks! I think he looks pretty adorable myself. I still need to capture all of the kids together, I'm thinking that might have to wait until Saturday morning.

Holy cuteness! Look at little Jack being a rocker! He's so darn cute. I can't help you on the colors, b/c I am lost on that too.

Ruthie would be super jealous of Natalie's Belle dress. We couldn't find one around here.
