Snapshot a Day (04/09)

Happy hump day everyone!

Just starting us off for today. If you've got a snap to share, I sure would love to see it! Today is my long day.

Best,
GiGi

Considering my doldrums, I was so psyched to get this shot today! I would love to put this one on canvas, I just love it (even with the one dying blossom near the top)! This was kind of a fluke... harsh light today, and a lot of wind, which doesn't make for a great situation for a shot like this. But this particular tree had one shoot of blossoms on a short new branch that wasn't affected by the breeze, and the light coming through the branches behind it was magical.

I wish we had more flowers and such in out landscaping. When we settle into a house and don't plan on moving for a while, I want to plant some tulips and lily of the valley. Lily of the valley is my all time favorite flower. Have you ever smelled it before? Such an amazing scent!

Yes, my SIL had lilies of the valley in her wedding bouquet. They smelled and looked amazing!

ETA: Oh, come to think of it, they were another type of lily... can't remember the name. But I have smelled lilies of the valley. I think my mom used to buy them on Easter once in a while, for a treat for herself.

It used to grow wild at my parents house. The ivy they have has since taken it over and it doesn't grow anymore Sad I was going to have it in my wedding bouquet, but it was way too expensive. I tried planting it at my previous house but I have a black thumb. I will have to get a landscaper out to get it going for me. Lol!

I love lilies. I have a brown thumb (or black & blue, maybe). My favorites, which I just cannot grow, are gardenias. I love the smell so much. My grandmother always had them around her house and the smell will always remind me of her and that home.

Here is my snap for yesterday. Technically, Carlos pushed the shutter button for me (& did the framing, etc) but I set the exposure and aperture - so it was a group effort. Biggrin

It was a HECK of a workout, let me tell ya!

WOW, GiGi! That is AWESOME! It almost looks like you used off-camera flash because of the technique many OCF people use of under-exposing the background for dramatic impact... but I'm sure the sun was just in the right place and you made perfect use of the light to get that dramatic impact without any extra help. Impressive!

Tracy, that flower shot is beautiful, the focus is perfect!

I love growing flowers, plants, cactus... ok just about anything though if it's not outdoors I am not great at it the only thing alive inside for more than a few months is the cactus' that might be because hockey season makes me forget them. Good thing animals remind me to feed them.

Gigi, Awesome group effort on the shot.

Your fittness pics remind me that I have to get motivated to start running again, hurt myself in June last year and have been lazy about getting back into it. I want to do two 5K's this year Chuck's Run for Dystonia (I have Dystonia, thankfully treatments give me a mostly normal life) and Run or Dye.

Getting started after an injury is the HARDEST, Amanda! I had to have shoulder surgery about 4 years ago and it took me more than a year to get back into things. It's good that you've set yourself a couple of goals for this year. Biggrin
