Snapshot a Day (1/20)

Hey all, how's the week starting off?

Today is Micah's birthday, and this may not end up being the best shot I take all day, but it's certainly one of the ones that showcases how excited he is to be the Birthday Boy. He desperately wanted to wear a birthday hat to go pick up Nora at school!! I was a little sheepishly embarrassed to let him, but I did it anyway, so here he is, hat firmly on, putting his shoes on to go get her.

Ah, don't be Tracy! I let Randy go to Wal-Mart with his batman cape and mask! LOL! People need the smile it brings to their face!

I don't have a problem with dress-up stuff, really. I guess in my family my mom was always so funny about stuff like calling attention to yourself in a self-congratulatory way, though. For her, it's different to play dress-up just because it's fun, compared to calling attention to yourself on your birthday, as though you're hoping people will acknowledge you. I don't know how to explain it! Weird, huh?! But I try to get over my family hang-ups and let my kids just have fun. Smile

Happy day-late Birthday Micah! He shares the date w/ my paternal grandfather (who I miss so dearly). I hope he had a truly special day.

In our home, birthdays were (& still are) a huge deal. But like you, we were taught to keep it at home. However, with Logan, I have tried to brush that off completely. The local TV station will display your picture before school that day. I'll call the radio and have them say "happy birthday" on the drive to school. and that kind of thing. When he was younger, we'd make special arrangements at school. We can't do that any more and he would likely be embarrassed if we did, but we still do what we can to celebrate - both publicly and at home on birthdays. At least for Logan. Wink

Love this shot, Tracy!

I just wish I could have got the entire body in the silhouette, but it wasn't possible. I was down as low as I possibly could go, but we aren't high enough up on the hill. Oh well! I still love it Wink

Katie ... YOU may have been unmotivated, but it looks like Sully was having a great time. Biggrin

I wasn't feeling well at all and wanted a special treat, so I made these paleo chocolate chip cookies:

they come together pretty quickly, so they have become my go-to treat when I need one (or when one of my boys needs a treat - even Logan loves these).
