I went on a camera club outing today... Really disappointed in how few good shots I got. Odd how sometimes you can shoot for hours (we were there for 3 hours today) and get so little; and other times you can shoot for 15 minutes and get 10 great shots.
Anywho. This is my favourite from the day:
Tracy that is just BEAUTIFUL! I just SHINES! LOVE IT!
I took one, crappy photo yesterday. This one here:
That's literally *all* I snapped yesterday. *sigh* I will say though, that despite the terrible photo, this bowl of awesomeness (chocolate chilli) was the BEST THING I ate all day!
Hope some more of you guys came up with awesome shots like Tracy.
Chocolate chili? I've always wanted to make some chocolate chili, just never got around to it yet. Sounds yummy!
I love all kinds of chilli, Tracy. It's one of my favorite foods. But I don't usually make it. That is kind of Carlos' thing. And his chilli is just AMAZING. But I saw this recipe when I was trolling food blogs last week and then we had a cool front blow in this weekend (oh my it feels good here today!), so I just had to try it. Carlos ended up enjoying it so much himself that he says he's going to incorporate some of the ingredients into his next batch of chilli (for a contest at work).
I'll be putting the recipe on my food blog some time this week. It was SUCH a big hit and I am glad I made a whole lot of it b/c I intend to eat it every night until I run out.
Drew made some chili yesterday! I didn't have a bowl for fear of terrible heartburn/reflux overnight, but I did put a little on my hot dog
I LOVE that shot, Tracy! It is seriously beautiful. I wish I had your and Amy's eye for nature photography.
I swear, all the shots I ever have are of Jackson. At the moment I spend more time with him since he's off on Mondays and Fridays, and gets out of school sooner than Carson. Not to mention, Carson just hates having his picture taken right now. I really have to bribe him.
Here's Jackson yesterday at around 5pm. Yeah...not a great time for a nap. I woke him up shortly after this, and he screamed and screamed. At least it didn't last too terribly long. I wish I could have got a better shot. His arm was all the way up over his head and he looked so adorable!
No good is going to come out of this. Nap at 5pm... by Stephanie.Miller, on Flickr
Cool, can't wait to see the recipe!, GiGi!
Steph, I'm like that with Micah. So much time with him, AND he's more cooperative with the camera! That is very cute... love sleeping pics.
Have you ever tried pumpkin chili? Mmmmm! We used to live in the Pumpkin Capitol (not sure if that was official or not, but it IS where Libby's pumpkin mix is made), and we would have a pumpkin festival every September. They'd have all sorts of pumpkin foods, one of them being a very tasty pumpkin chili. I also loved the pumpkin baked beans, and, of course, the yummy pumpkin ice cream!
My first reaction was that DH might kill me if I made pumpkin soup but that's not true. He doesn't like pumpkin desserts. I do make a pumpkin sausage soup he loves. I oughta give pumpkin chili a try, too! We love chili in this house, but I usually make the same tried & true recipe.
OOOH! I love pumpkin. Carlos likes pumpkin bread. I would LOVE to try a pumpkin chilli AND a pumpkin sausage soup, for that matter!
Pumpkins spell fall for me and I am ready to dive in!
LOVE the sleeping pic, Steph. I HATED late naps. Logan never slept for more than 2 hours at a time for the first THREE YEARS of his life. So once we got him on a sleep schedule I have never let him deviate - that included waking him from late naps. Made for a lot of whining, crying evenings, but it was worth it to get him to sleep a full night. At 12 years old, we STILL don't mess w/ his bed time.
Great photography turned cooking thread. Love it!
GiGi, this is the soup I mentioned. It is delish, and a good low-carb recipe... not paleo if you're eliminating dairy, though. Low Carb Pumpkin Sausage Soup Recipe - Food.com - 106467
I'll definitely be trying this, Tracy. We are not strict paleo - we all need our milk. But I am the only one in the house that will eat cream-based soups. That's fine by me though - just means I get more for myself, right?!
Exactly! And the great thing about soups is that they freeze well!!
Tracy - That is a beautiful picture of a bee on a flower.
Gigi - I love chili, YUM! DH and I made up our own recipe by combining elements of different recipes (and adding extras of the stuff we really like). By the way I have the same bowls (actually I have the whole dish set). Care to share your food blog?
Amanda ... my food blog is here:Mama G's Go-To Meals
I only have a few things on there so far and only iPad snaps for the pics, but I hope to add a lot more [I'm sharing this w/ my mom and SIL who are both trying to "go paleo" with me] and to eventually take good pics of the food. For now, it's just enough that I get the recipes posted so that they can try out the ones that are working for Carlos and I.
Thanks for asking though!
You guys have made me HUNGRY! LOL! Pumpkin bread is about the only thing pumpkin I eat. I LOVE it. It's a staple here in the fall!
GiGi- CHOCOLATE chili? I need to know more!
Steph- such a sweet photo!
And my handsome feller sleeping in the car while waiting to pick up the kids!
Sadie - I'm hoping to try a Paleo Pumpkin Bread recipe this weekend. I hope it works out b/c that is my ALL TIME FAVORITE pumpkin food. I really love to make french toast with it! Talk about decadent! MMMMMMM. Love the pic of Randall asleep in the car line. But ... ummmm .... how long did y'all have to wait?! Goodness! BTW ... try the link to my food blog, I added the chocolate chilli recipe if you want to try it. It's the BEST! I am seriously making it again this weekend we loved it so much.
LOL! We weren't in the car line, thank goodness. I usually wait about 15 minutes in that line. This time we were waiting on meeting my sister b/c the kids stayed with her overnight. We were parked. And I had no clue you had a food blog! Off to check it out!
