Snapshot a Day (12/02)

Happy first Monday of December guys! I hope those in the US had a great Thanksgiving holiday!

I've been off-line for over a week. My mom came to stay the week of Thanksgiving and we made a trip to see her mom as well. Texas is a big state and it took a good bit of the week to fit it all in and while it left us both exhausted, it was SO worth it!

I'm going to spend some time today catching up on all the snapshot threads I missed last week, but I wanted to get this off and going in the mean time.

Happy Monday everyone. May this week be blessed for you all.

Best,
GiGi

This one may be a bit of a cheat, because it's not a photo I took today. But I 'created' this image today using one of my autumn images, combined with some PhotoShop techniques (in GIMP and PhotoShop Elements together!) for a challenge:

Missed you GiGi! Can't wait to see some snaps!
Tracy- I think it's very pretty! Love how it looks like a painting!

Grabbed some shots of the puppies this afternoon. Loved this one that I grabbed!

Tracy - I'd love to see the "before" shot! This is truly beautiful, Tracy! It feels so soft and peaceful. I can almost feel the soft sun on my shoulders. Biggrin

Sadie - WOW!!!!! what a SWEET shot! The pups are growing so fast and they are just down right adorable! You just gotta love puppies. Biggrin

Here's mine:

Each year, Logan and I work on new Christmas crafts. This year, we are painting plaster ornaments. We still have quite a few to work on, but I really like this gingerbread man.

Oh GiGi, LOVE that! The bokeh is wonderful, and the light on the adorable little gingerbread man is lovely!

Here's my before shot, since you asked!

The original is beautiful, Tracy. But I have to admit, you took it to a whole new level w/ the edits!

Thanks, GiGi! My local camera club submits images to CAPA (Canadian Association of Photographic Arts) competitions, and the next CAPA competition is for 'altered reality' which can be anything from merging multiple photos to colour edits to... well, whatever you like. I thought I'd try some 'painting' processing for the competition and see how it goes!

I took the tutorial from a magazine article that I can't find online. The closest thing I can find is these instructions: From Photograph to Painting – Photoshop Elements User

It's similar, but at the beginning of my instructions, the tutorial I followed added a duplicate layer of the original image with some blur (regular first, then a bit of motion blur at -90 degrees), then painted over with a white artistic brush at low opacity.
