Default Some from the newborn shoot (CC please)

Well, I don't know when I will do another newborn shoot. It IS a lot of work! But I really enjoyed doing it.

Here are a few - I don't know how I could have changed the composition, as I couldn't get farther away to avoid centering on some. Would love any feedback on the coloring. I kept checking the RGB numbers, and I used my eyes to make the final call when I was adjusting via levels.

    1. This one I need to fix more. The backdrop ended in the middle of the leaf on his hat, so I had to try to bring it back. I was working on this one late last night, and looking at it again, I can see where I need to make some corrections.

    2. The blue blanket is his ... he loves it. It really was calming for him, he loved to be wrapped in it, so I just went with it and photographed him a LOT with it.

    3. I am not sure how to crop this ... or if I even should. The centering bothers me, but at the same time I'm drawn to it.

    4. I did smooth his skin on this one ... but I think it goes with the dreaminess going on here.

I think you did a GREAT job! I especially love the 3rd and 4th ones. I'm not a big fan of the second for some reason, but I'm not sure entirely why...maybe just all the different textures..I'm not sure!

Great job Gwen you did a super job!

    Gwen those turned out great.

I'm not really one for advice, but here is what I've got. I really like the 3rd one, I think it looks perfect as is and I wouldn't try and crop it. As mentioned before the textures on the second are a little much, could you crop it to just show his blanket? A portrait crop? I just love your little pumpkin hat, it turned out so cute ... glad it fit. The last picture is very sweet, maybe just blend the blanket and backdrop to make them appear as the same black.

    I think they are great.
#1 Hat is adorable, great catchlights. He looks very doll-like, almost plastic...

#2 Sweet capture, but I would like to see a different crop as well...

#3 the centering works for me. I like it

#4 so sweet, and i think you are right, the dreamy quality works well on this one.

What skin smoothing technique did you use?

Love #3 I think the fact that the blanket is not symmetrical draws away the fact that its centred. I wouldn't change a thing
But as another option I would actually like to see it in a Square crop

#1 is my fave however. love it!!!

    # 2 is lovely, especially as he loves the blanket. It looks a little flashy to me though, but that could be just me

I truly love the first 2. And I wouldn't have noticed anything about the fixes near the hat if you hadn't mentioned it (I do see it now that you do though). #3 isn't quite working for me. I don't really think it's the centered nature, but the fact that he feel so far away. I think a tighter crop, maybe square like Cazz mentioned, would work better. And I love #4 as well. The dreamy feel to it really works. REALLY!

Great job, Gwen! these totally ROCK!

You did great Gwen! I love #1, but something looks off to me - his skin looks too smooth or like he's a little magenta (uncalibrated at work though).
I agree, he seems far away in #3 - so either a square or I am trying to turn my head to see what it would look like in portrait orientation.
    #4 is my personal fav.

I did smooth his skin in the first one, I'm remembering that now. I will reduce the opacity of that, because I don't like the plastic look I'm seeing with it. And I will play with crops of the middle two. I seem to have the flu and don't have the mental energy to pour into these right now. I will tackle again when I'm feeling better. I certainly appreciate the feedback!

Cazz - I didn't use any flash, so I'm wondering why the second looks flashy. But I totally see what you're talking about. Will have to look at it more closely when I get back to editing. And thanks for the square crop suggestion on the 3rd.

I think you did a great job! I can't add much more than the others have already said. I didn't think you used a flash, but perhaps the light reflecting off the satin of his blanket is what Cazz means?
