    Default Something New for CC

My brother has decided to learn how to shoot manual. We went on a little hunt on a family farm to see if we could get some interesting pics and I could give him what little knowledge I have. I didn't get ANYTHING interesting that was non-human. I've decided I like portraiture. I'm not a 'thing' photographer

Here is the one good shot I got. I think my brother has a very retro feel so I tried my first BW convesion. I just got PSE8 today. Boy o boy do I have A LOT to learn. I'm just lost. I'll have to pick up Scott Kelby's book quick.

PS: Does this count as Lifestyle?

I really like your pic! But I'm not experienced in what's "right" with conversions, so I can't cc the conversion....as for it fitting the "lifestyle" challenge, I think the challenge said it should be the opposite of a posed pic, and yours is posed...

Ahh, gotcha. I can't really find anything I'm happy with to enter. Maybe between now and Sunday I can find somthing I like.

    Thanks

I really like you composistion on this one but I would have lowered the ISO and SS. And also closed the AP up a bit. 2.8 is a bit to open for a full body picture, and looks like it may have caused you to miss the focus.

I like the pose ... but as Amy mentioned not so good for the challenge. The conversion looks fine to me. And congrats on PSE8! Do get Kelby's book, you won't regret. I read the PSE7 book cover to cover and I'm almost done reading the CS4 book. I just love soaking that stuff up.

Thanks Andrea. Yeah, after I pulled the settings I was like Doh!! I was just hoping it wasn't completly ruined.

Gwen, I'm really anxious to learn. I'm just afraid I still won't get it. Here's hoping.

I love the pic. As others have said, it's too posey for lifestyle, but it is a neat photo!
