It's sort of an awkward age for photos. They aren't as easy to pose as newborns and can't sit up or hold their head up yet. I want to get some cute pics of DD but I am not sure how to pose her. I am thinking of taking her outside and practicing using my new 50 mm lens. Any advice?
With a little patience ..I have had lots of success getting babies up to 6 weeks old alseep and curled....just takes ALOT of patience.
Otherwise you can still prop them on a boppy...but your right its an awkward age...
I've treated the 1 month old and 1 1/2 month old I photographed just like newborns. They don't curl or sleep quite as well, but you can still do lots with them.

Hi there! I would agree that, depending on the baby, it is difficult! I just spent 4 hrs at a good friends house last night trying to get some pics of her 5.5 week old. Needless to say, I came home with nothin' good. She would not curl up nice and tight at all for me. She wanted her legs and arms out and moving And, she wouldn't sleep unless she was in the swing or on mommy or my chest, and when we'd try and move her she'd wake up and be unhappy. I tried to prop her on on her chest on a bobby and on a bean bag and she just wanted to put her face into them...was not a fan of laying her head down and looking to the side. Sigh. It was a challenge....but it was just practice for me, and it was my first "newborn", so I wasn't expecting a whole lot! Mom and Dad did tell me that over the past week she has become super alert and not sleeping nearly as much as she used to. I totally missed my newborn window with her I think! Maybe I will try her again at 3 mths. Good luck! Can't wait to see what you come up with!!
I'm still just working with my point and shoot, but here are a couple examples of pics of a recent play with my friend's 6 wk old...
Gotta love the classic teacup huh?
And she is a big fan of selective color
sorry if these are huge, photobucket won't let me resize and i am too lazy to mess with flickr right now
