DH and I will be going to see the sunset tomorrow with our kids. Just wondering what settings is best for a sunset? I have never shot a sunset before. I want to try to get it right this first time. (well, as best as i can) Any tips? I want to try a silhouette too. I just don't want to mess up so any advice would be great. Can't wait to practice tomorrow!
nevermind just checked the weather and it looks like it might rain tomorrow ... darn it!
bummer on the rain!
well, when I took my sunset pictures, I left my aperture too open ... I should have closed up more to get a crisper sun that was setting. and for a silouette, you want a closed ap and you'll need to meter on the sky and not the person.

Yup, when you get a chance to get out there L, make the ap nice and wide to get in all the colors and to silouete everything else around you.
Hope you get out there san the rain and clouds soon.
Ah I was wondering this too, is the AP wide open on the higher numbers or the lower? Should I go F2 or F11 or something?
i was wondering that too... i get confused sometimes having it open means at f2 right? or something around there...and closing it up means going up to like f11 etc. right? we are playing it by ear. if it looks ok outside around 6pm we'll go for a little bit. i love the area where we are going. it's beautiful!
hope you get some good weather.

Yes, the lower the number, the wider it is. And bummer about the rain... maybe this evening will be clear!
well...the weather sort of cleared up but now DH is too busy to take me I can't go myself either because I dont know how to drive there and won't take that chance since I have no license. Even though I hardly ever see cops around here BUT the sun does set close to my house and might ask the neighbors permission to go to her yard and take pics there.
