sorry long time no post, been in a funk and really wanted my new 70-200 2.8 lens. (tired of getting the back of ds' head so hoping that with the longer zoom he wouldn't know I was there haha)
anyway to my dismay the lens is discontinued with a new version out (at a price much more than I want to spend).
What are the thoughts on the Tamron or Sigma lenses?
pretty please
I promise I'll be back...I have a session coming up in a few weeks and my son has started soccer (although I really need my zoom for that)
do you have any problems with af speed? I just did a very quick review search and it seems it's slower than if I bought the actual nikon but at more than double the price I don't think I can pull it off
I have the tamron 70-200 2.8 and it is quite a bit slower than the nikon, but I didnt have the extra $$ to spend for that extra speed. I just had to get used to it I do love it other than that tho! If I hadnt tried both of them, i probably wouldnt have even noticed lol!
Great question because I am aiming to get a 70-300mm to go with my new camera and buying Nikon is out of the question for money reasons right now. After doing a bit of research, I am leaning more towards the sigma, but that is a gut feeling rather than experience.
Kerry I'm in the exact same situation with Canon--I want to get a ~300mm (or more, for birding purposes) but cannot afford a Canon....so I've been very interested to know more about Sigma and Tamron....
