My friend, who got married, and her mom came over today to see some sample pictures I ordered for them from Mpix since they've never ordered through there before. I wanted them to see the quality, etc. I also ordered them a paper sample kit. They really liked the quality and I did too! They really liked the picture! And every other picture (30 of them I have finished so far and I have so much more to go still!) I showed them a preview of what I have done so far. They said I did such a good job and they couldn't believe I wasn't charging LOL I told them I was still practicing but they were quite satisfied with their pictures so far. I can't wait to finish editing her wedding. I have been super busy lately though preparing for my trip back to Norway so it will still be a little while before I finish it all. But it's ok. They didn't mind. My friend said she had someone she works with asking about me and if I did senior portraits. She told her I was leaving soon or else I would do it. That gives me hope that I will get more and more sessions once we move here. My friend and her husband want to get pregnant so if that happens I'll have a baby to practice on! I'm excited! I have offered my services in Norway to people but no one has contacted me to practice on them. Having good friends here to practice on really helps!
A few things I learned from this experience was... I really wouldn't mind doing another wedding in the future. Maybe second shooting one if it's someone I don't know. Since this time it was my friend it was a bit easier I think. but I still loved it! Also, I need to learn quite a few things about my camera still. So that is what I'll be doing this fall. Like metering, and focusing. I just switched to BBF (back button focus) and so far I like it so much better then the other way. I'm getting used to it.
I just wanted to share I'm so happy!
P.S. I'll share more wedding photos later on once I get them done.
GRRRRRR! I lost my reply!
Bottom line ... I'm not surprised they loved your shots; you did an AWESOME job! I know they will treasure this for a very long time.
And I'm SO EXCITED for your future photo ops!
Hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation.
That's awesome Loida!!!

BBF or back button focus is basically an option to change how you focus. I was half pressing the shutter to focus before but I found it very annoying so decided to try BBF. I googled it for my camera and changed it and so far I like it. I'll have to play around with it some more later on. I have a Canon 40D.
Loida, that's most excellent! Sounds like you need to move back here fast! How much longer are you in Norway? I'm so glad that they loved the pictures, you really are doing awesome with your photography.
