Default They say it's the photographer, not the tools...

... But yesterday I got this photo and was reminded again of how AWESOME having a DSLR is! I have always loved taking macros of flowers, but last year I tried several times to capture this magical "love in a mist" flower, and never achieved results like this. The aperture made all the difference in 'making' this shot and capturing the 'mood' of this flower.

I really do love my new camera!!! Now if I could just get more lenses! (No, I'm not greedy!! )

    That flower is awesome!!

You did such an amazing job showcasing and framing the stem (with the leaves?) and the petals with that strange center (I know, so technical )

Beautiful! A great photographer can use any tool to get wonderful shots yes, but there are still limits to what certain cameras can do, glad your DSLR let you capture the flower the way you would have liked it.

Agreed, P&S can only do so much. I saw a post on FB the other day that said, "Photograhers get upset when people say, "Your camera takes nice pictures!" but yet they drool over new toys for their camera." It's the truth. They do help with technical things like bokeh, ISO, and SS, but you had a hang of your P&S a long time ago and you rocked it till it couldn't be rocked anymore! LOVE this shot!

    So true!!

Thanks for all of the kind comments! I find these flowers so fascinating and it was too cool to capture it the way I envisioned it, with a good camera, after trying all last summer unsuccessfully with our P&S.

Jennifer, LOL, yes, so technical! But me too. I love taking nature macros, but have almost no clue what anything is, nor how to describe them or their various 'parts' properly in a technical way!
