Week 2: POSTPONED- Exercise 2 Seeing exposure

The exercise is on pages 30 & 31
You must do both part of the exercise.
1. Pick a stationary subject
2. Pick a moving subject

1 - For the stationary subject - expose correctly, you must show DOF
- ensure your camera is set to manual
- select the right ISO where you are
- select the lowest aperture for your camera
- find the right SS
- take the picture
- repeat the exercise by increasing the aperture each shot

2 - for your moving subject
- ensure your camera is set to manual
- pick the right ISO for your condition
- choose the slowest SS
- find the right aperture
- take the picture
- repeat the exercise by increasing the SS for each picture

Let's post at least 4-5 shots for each exercise - don't forget to show your settings for each shot.

I went to the park today and thought I might try the moving subject on my DD in a swing. But it seems I'm a little out of the know with the terminology. Perhaps I need to finish the chapter??

But could you explain what is meant by "choose the lowest SS"? Does that mean the fastest or slowest???

Deidre thanks - it was a typo I meant "slowest" for instance 1/8 sec.

Cool. Thanks! I only hope the weather holds up so that I can get her back to the park this weekend!

Doesn't seem like there is that much interest in doing these exercises. Let me know -- we can postpone.

I'm still reading my book, and planning on doing the exercise....anyone else? I can probably do the exercise one of these coming afternoons before Thanksgiving.

I wanted to do it this weekend, but I have strep throat and then the girls started getting sick... and of course it was opening weekend for hunting here, so DH wasn't around. I have tried! Still thinking of what to use for the moving pics. I may just use my faucet!

El, I really do want to do these (as I think it's great practice). But I really can't manage it this time of year. Given the lack of response here, I'm guessing others are equally busy. I love that you started this, I think it's terrific. Can we put it on hold until after the holidays? Do others agree?

I also think it's a great idea and I'm so glad you starting this El. But like so many others, my life is just plain crazy right now (though it's a remodeling job messing me up, not the holidays).

I wouldn't mind if we postponed this so I could participate. I feel like such a slacker.

Not to worry everyone - I am behind also. We can postpone and see how everyone's schedule is for next year.

I agree on Postponing. I totally want to do this tutorial, but I think things are going to get very busy the next few weeks.

But PLEASE reschedule! It's helped me so much so far!!!!

I actually started to do the homework this morning while I waited to get the girls up and ready for daycare. I am SO excited to do this, but I also agree that maybe waiting until the new year and holidays are over will be easier.

But THANK YOU so much for doing this!
