Unhappy What did I do Wrong with These Pictures?

For one I could not keep my Son still.. How do you take pictures of a 1year when they keep pulling on the backdrop and trying to run off?

    Do he look green?
This is at our new place...so im trying to find where my best lighting is.

The ones on the left are edited the right are SOOC. Feel free to play with them. I want to know if my color is off?

First off, he's too close to the backdrop. I totally understand that you might not be able to have anymore room, but that's the main problem. Your lighting looks good though. I'm not seeing a strong green color cast, but I might be wrong. It all looks fine except for the backdrop.

If you're struggling taking pics of him now while he's 1, wait til he's 2! mine is and refuses to sit.
I agree with Sadie, he's much too close to the backdrop. He doesn't look overly green to me either.

Yup, that's the main trouble with toddlers...they won't sit still!! Can you bribe him with mini marshmellows or something?

I agree with PPs, entirely too close to the background.

His smile in the 3rd is just so sweet!

the green cast is very slight and, as others have pointed out, is mainly because he's so close to the back drop.

    gosh, he's cute!

could you blow bubbles at him or even let him blow bubbles or something like that to keep him still? i'm trying to remember back that far, but I think I did things like put DS up on top of things (like the credenza in my living room) when he was that age and I wanted him to stay still. something where he couldn't get down.

with that wonderful bright color, you might try something like a photo shoot with one of those oversized lolipops. makes a neat prop and might keep him still for a few minutes.

good luck and don't be too hard on yourself!

    best,

I agree with being too close to the background.
That being said, usually I can get my 1 year old to stay still by putting her in something...a box, a bucket, any kind of prop that will keep him put for a few minutes.

These are so cute!!! I agree with the PP. Last winter before I started coming to this forum, I too had my daughter right up against the background for her Christmas pics that I did. I just ended up smoothing out almost all the wrinkles in PSP. I still love the pics, but I've learned a LOT since then! Keep at it! one tip I do have is to give them something to hold and/or something special to sit on...it keeps them more still longer

I love his smile in the third one! So cute!

I'm a newbie, so I don't have any suggestions, except that I did read somewhere (it may have even been here!) that you need your backdrop at least 6 feet so you can keep them a good distance from it.

I totally understand, though! My DS is almost 8 months and has recently taken a HUGE interest in my camera! Anytime I sit him down, I barely get my camera up before he's crawling towards me to grab for it! So I totally understand. I can't keep him still at this point, so I haven't taken many recently! I think offering him something is a great idea! That usually buys me a minute or two.

    He's soooo cute!!

I think you did a good job pulling the green from his skin from the SOOC versions. I don't have anything new to add, you have great advice above. But definitely get at least 18 inches (more is better) from him and the background. And having him hold something helps. Can you put him in a box to keep him in one place? (might be something fun to try!)
