Working on PPing headshots ... WB issue?

So I had a headshot session for a 10 year old boy yesterday. I actually want to share a few from that session (plus a couple practice shots I took of my daughter before the actual session). But I'm post processing now, and am wondering if I should be going warm or cool with this kid. Both look good to me, I'm leaning more towards the warmer photo (which means I need to go back to ACR for a bunch of these).

What do you think? Just looking on feedback for the color temp on these two.

2. Warm

I don't really see a big difference between the two photos. They both look cool to me. I played with the first one and warmed it up. It's on private - let me know if you want to take it down.

yeah, I think I need to go back and warm them ALL back. I shot about 115 photos ... and picked 47 that I liked. I need to trim that a LOT more, but am torn as there were a lot I liked. But first I need to warm the kid up.

I agree with El that their too cool. Her edit seems more natural.

Okay, here's a warmer version ... better? My eyes seem to prefer cooler tones, and I need to retrain them ...

this one almost looks too yellow and maybe a little green. What are you using to fix the wb, ACR? I had a quick play so you can see what looks right to me:

I think these are great shots Gwen. I too think your last play may have been a bit too yellow. I personally like Andie's play. What a handsome young man!

Thanks Andie, nice play!

Yes, I'm using ACR ... and I have it open right now to adjust yet again. *sigh* As far as green, the slider is at about +26 here so the green shouldn't be there. I'm trying to tone down the yellow by making it slightly cooler. Will post a new edit in a few minutes ... then it's off to gymnastics. Never a huge chunk of time for PPing these days which is why I stayed up until after 1 this morning to edit this batch.

I agree that I like Andie's play best so far. It's warm w/out being too magenta.

I'm no real help though ... I struggle w/ wb and skin tones.

Focus, exposure, and composition look REALLY NICE with the ones you've shared, Gwen! And those eyes ... WOW! Mom is going to ADORE these! I can't wait to see more from this session.

Best,
GiGi

Okay, here's one that's more of a middle ground ... any better?

I'm working on the full size each time, so I have to recrop. So if it looks slightly different, it's because I'm probably cropping slightly different. I'm angling in the crop, he's more straight on in SOOC.

What I did was zoom into his right eye and click the white balance dropper on the middle of the eye white (side closer to him nose). I often use this as a starting point but on this picture I didn't adjust any further. HTH

ETA: the new play looks great!

I think it looks GREAT! Well done Gwen! I need some editing skills!
