Yet another lens question!

So I've been looking into buying a new lens, and I dont have lots of money to spend on one right now. So I've been looking at the Canon EF 50mm F1.8 II. I've read lots of reviews, and it sounds like a good lens, other than the build of it isnt that great. BUt for the price, it sounds good! Anyone have this? Thoughts? Pros and Cons?
Even as cheap as it is, it is money I dont really have. So should I just get it...or keep saving my money for something better?
Basically this is just a hobby for me, and most pictures I take are of my daughter and my nephew.

Thanks for any help! Biggrin

I love my nifty fifty. You won't be disappointed with it and for the price, you can't beat it.

I love mine. You won't be disappointed! DH dropped mine and so it slides out of the housing and has to be shoved back in occasionally. Still takes a good pic though.

it's the best bang for the buck for beginners - especially for portraits since it's generally a fast lens. you should be able to find on around $80-100.

I bought my nikon 50mm F1.8 on ebay for $85 and it's the lens I use the most - even more than my $400 85mm f1.8.
