Katie, oh man I'm so sorry to hear that everyone is sick again! I'm always the last to get sick, I think it's a mom thing. I think we're genetically hard-wired to get sick last so that we can take care of everyone else til they're better. Then we get sick and there's no one to take care of us because our DH's used all their sick time on themselves and the kiddos obviously aren't going to help! haha. At least that's what always happens to me.

Virginia, sorry Raymond woke up wet and upset today. That's never a good start to the day...

AFM, pretty sure I'm o'ing right now or just did a bit ago. Mega o pain at the moment. We've BD'd every night for a few nights and will again tonight for good measure. I'll know for sure sometime whether or not I actually O'd. *patiently waiting* Enjoying a final few glasses of wine right now for 2 weeks - 10+ months! (hopefully the 10+ months). I don't know why, but this month feels really good! I feel much more fertile than I have in months (since I wasn't sick like last cycle) and I've just had a lot more EWCM then I have in awhile. I hope that's a good sign and that this is the month!

Lauren - Yay for feeling like it's a good cycle! I hope you're right.

AFM: got a crazy HPT this morning. I'm pretty sure it's a BFN, but unfortunately can't get a good pic (darn cloudy day). From left to right it is pale, the has a pink smudge about the width of a line but only half the length, then a pure white line, then a little lighter pink, then the control. Lined up with an OPK I can't tell whether the test line would be the white area (my guess) or the smudge. I have another which is clearly BFN, but I'll be saving the weird one to try to get a pic later and share on DYSAL. I've never had one like that.

We will now add double ear infection to Rory's list of ailments Poor baby. Thurs he had a good day, Fri he seemed ok but I noticed the nebulizer wasn't really helping like it had before and then this morning he was wheezing, crying and refusing to nurse so I decided we needed to get back to the doctor. He went like 6 hours refusing to nurse from 3-9am and crying and the nebulizer did nothing. So the double ear infection is probably impacting his nursing, I promptly gave him tylenol for the pain (incredibly he has no fever). He's on steroids in addition to the nebulizer of albuterol and antibiotics. My poor kiddo. I have noticed a breathing difference already though with the steroids and the tylenol must have helped the pain b/c he nursed and fell asleep. DH is out picking up the antibiotics so we'll get him started ASAP.

I am so tired. He actually didn't have a horrible night until about 5am when DH took over but I think the multiple nights and crabby days are just adding up. Hopefully he's on the mend soon and we can all get back to a good routine.

Katie - Sorry to hear you have a sick household again, hope everyone is back to healthy soon.

    Lauren -

    *AFM*

Dana's team didn't do so well in their tournament, got eliminated early on so it freed up Sunday. We went to the Ontario Science Center instead of hockey which was nice, everyone enjoyed themselves.

The girls enjoyed their Easter baskets, I got Natalie some paints and papers as well as a book for her tag reader. Dana got some PJ's, earrings and a teen magazine. Got both the girls coloured bubbles and Reeses Pieces. They also go lots of treats at my sisters house Saturday night when we got together for Easter dinner.

Today is just a pretty quiet day, the girls did some painting this morning, hope to take them outside to blow some bubbles and go to the pet food store this afternoon if things warm up. Also getting some cleaning done around the house, why does it seem to never end?

Amanda - Wow, crazy that Dana got AF... You're officially entering a new stage, eeek!!

Virginia - What's new? Anymore HPT's? I looked at your shart, and it looks like you marked the start of AF, but it has been so long since I charted that I'm not sure, haha.

Katie - Boooo for sick babies. I hope your household can catch a break soon.

    Lauren - Best of luck!!

AFM - We've been busy with family visiting, egg coloring/hunting, etc. I got to talk to my uncle the contractor yesterday about building us a house... I'm so freaking excited. I was looking at his website at some of the beautiful houses he has built, and I just want to start NOW. He said on average, it only takes them about 3 months, which is awesome! I expected like a year-long affair. We really, really need to find our land now. And sell this place, of course. The hard part is finding land in the school district we want that can connect to city water. We want to live more rural, but we really, really still want city water lines as opposed to well water.

Katie - poor Rory! I hope he feels better soon.

Mary - I'm glad it looks like you can get your house built! I'm curious, why do you want city water so badly? I grew up in an area where everyone had well water and it was fine. I'd probably prefer a well, given the choice.

Hope everyone had a good Easter. Ours went well. AF showed yesterday. Finally. I'm amazed I had a competent LP. Looks like the spermicide works (well, not that one data point is good research). So I'm "enjoying" my first real AF in 20 months.

ETA: babyhalfoff.com has lunette menstrual cups today! I have a (different brand) menstrual cup and I highly recommend trying one.

Lauren - your chart looks great so far! Looks like have you BDing bases covered, too.

AFM (long science-nerdy digression So, I did something kind of stupid this morning. Way back when I got pregnant with Oliver I bought some FRERs and they came with one of those fertility tests. This cycle was my first real chance to use it... and it was set to expire next month. Well, I got a "high FSH" result which supposedly indicates low ovarian reserve. That struck me as odd since I'm 28 and given my family history should have a good 25 years before I hit menopause. Would you believe Google turned up no good dumbed down info on how BFing affects FSH levels? I ended up reading a couple scientific papers and... for the nerdy ones here (Mary) here's an attempted summary of what I found (combining the results of several papers into a theoretically coherent picture): Normally FSH stimulates follicles to grow and the ovaries to release estrogens. The estrogens in turn inhibit FSH release. Breast Feeding causes prolactin to be released. Prolactin acts on FSH receptors, decreasing receptor density and therefore decreasing the ovarian response to FSH. Therefore, the ovaries release less estrogen which exerts less inhibition on FSH production potentially leading to an increase in FSH. I think. I could be wrong about that. But, I like the conclusion. I know prolaction levels fall significantly during the first year BFing, but since I BF on demand, tend to make lots of milk, and just got AF back recently I think I can blame the test results on BFing. If they aren't too expensive I might pick up another fertility test in a few months and see if it has changed. If I'm BFing less at all.

Virginia - Too funny that you did that... I took one of those fertility tests when Cal was about 8(?) months old, and got the same results and I read around about it and came to the same conclusion! hahah.

As for the city vs. well water thing, my main hang-up is that there is a lot of mining in the area and I know some people have had their water supply cut off by all the earth-moving. I don't know how common that is or if the odds are high... But then those people have to buy giant external tanks that they have to carry in a truck to the water department to refill. My parents live right next to the water department place where people have to refill and it looks like the most giant PITA. It was a big relief to us when we were connected to the city line when I was maybe 10-11 years old.

AFM - I applied for a job yesterday. I'm a little nervous about it because I heard back from them really quickly. The guy said my resume looked good, but he asked if I was aware that I'm 100 miles away, and he asked if I'm planning to relocate. I responded to his email and told him we are planning to relocate, but then I haven't heard back from him today. I guess I'm nervous since his first response was so fast and now it has been 14 hours (lol) with no response. Anyway, the job sounds great. It is in a pharmacy that dispenses for long-term care facilities, like nursing homes. I used to work in a similar pharmacy in college. The schedule is supposed to be four 10-hr shifts a week, every 4th Saturday, no Sundays. It's not exactly in the area where we wanted to move, so I'll either have to commute about 45 minutes, or else we'll have to change our plan for where to move.

Mary - GL with the job! We're on well water and it's no problem at all but there's a solid water supply and no real worries in our area. People water the lawn and all that stuff with it. I hope things work out!

Virginia - you're too funny! I bet you're right your conclusion sounds good!

Amanda - how are the girls? I can't believe Dana is already old enough for AF!

Lauren - Hope you caught the egg!

AFM - Rory is finally feeling better I think! He slept well the last couple nights and finally ate normally last night (by normally I mean often lol). He was crabbing at me this morning while I was getting ready but it wasn't sick screaming baby it was his normal fuss at mom b/c I want to be picked up stuff. Hopefully it continues! Saturday my mom and I are heading to NYC to see my sister and to see Newsies on broadway. My sis and I watched the Disney movie WAYYYYYY too much as kids so we thought it would be fun to see the broadway rendition I'm excited to have a day together, we really haven't had a day with the three of us together in 5+ years!
