Virginia - Glad Oliver seems better. I hope it avoids the rest of you. We've been through so many illnesses since Christmas, I'm about to lose my mind! It's always a relief when the kiddos start acting better, though.

Amanda - I'm happy to hear you got some good news on your dad. I hope he keeps improving. Woohoo for getting a steal on the dress!

Ashley - Boooo for the crappy weather. It sounds miserable, but at least the kiddos were well-behaved. It has been pretty cold here this weekend, but it looks like it's supposed to be in the 60's tomorrow and then around 71 and partly cloudy on Tuesday (my day off, YAY!!). I don't mind if the weather is blah on my work days, as long as I get nice weather on my days off.

AFM - This is sorta funny, but just last week (so around 36.5 weeks), my DH and two of my coworkers told me all at different times (but on the same day) that I had POPPED. And then the very next day, a customer that I hadn't seen in a little while came in and said, "It looks like Mary has been to the watermelon patch." Hahaha... And then today, a customer saw me, motioned toward her belly and said, "Ooh, congratulations!" LOL. Literally not one person at work had commented on my belly before then. Nothing like waiting until the baby is ready to fall out before people start noticing the belly. Jeez... I blame 99% of it on the white lab coat hiding all shape to my body, but it is kinda funny that DH noticed the difference suddenly also. Weird.......

I'm trying to figure out how to approach the topic of induction at 39 weeks with my doc. IMO, he just wants to do it then because he CAN. Many hospitals have adopted the "no sooner than 39 weeks unless medically necessary" policy. It's pretty much the norm now. So at my last appointment, when he mentioned we'd probably induce at 39 weeks, I couldn't help but think "because there's not a good medical reason." So if it turns out there isn't (they're keeping an eye on my lowish fluid, it's still well over where it was when I was induced with Calvin, though)... Then why is it suddenly necessary to induce at 39 weeks? It's not... IMO. So anyway, we'll see how the next couple weeks play out. I went from a similar fluid level to way low with Calvin in the span of less than a week. So I'm not holding my breath that it won't happen again, but we'll see. If things are still looking good by 39 weeks, I'll probably suggest that we just keep doing the twice-weekly NST's. He always does great on them, so if he's still doing well by then, I'll be happy.

ETA: That said, I've been a little (lot) nervous over the last 24 hours because he hasn't been moving as much. I wish my NST was today, but it's tomorrow. I hope all is well in there. I do still feel movement once in a while, but he's usually like ALWAYS moving and very active. I'm drinking ice water now.. I hope that gets him dancing.

ETA again: He seemed to wake up during my shower, and now Calvin has decided it would be fun to play drums on my belly with ice cold hands, so he's moving now.

You can refuse induction. I'm very happy that my MW practice won't induce until 42 weeks unless there's good reason. I like going into labor on my own!
I'm glad baby started moving. Ice cream always works for me. Cold+sugar.

Ashley - Congrats to your DH on the run, too bad you got wet but good to hear that kids behaved.

Virginia - It sucks when my DH has to work lots, it is slightly better when it's from home though. Hope Oliver is better today, and whatever it is stays away from everyone else.

Mary - So odd that no one said anything until now about your belly.

I would be furious if there was no medical reason to induce before 41 weeks, not that I've ever gone that long. So a doctor would have to deal with my wrath inducing unnecessarily and that ain't pretty.

Saturday night DH and I went to see Oblivion with some friends. The movie it self was well written and entertaining. I would say Tom Curise and Olga Kurylenko's acting was flat, and I really don't think it was the characters that were the problem there was lots of potential for them to be great. Morgan Freeman (who only had about 20 minutes of screen time) and Andrea Riseborough had incredibly good performances.

Did lots of shopping with Dana on the weekend. She got gift cards for her birthday for a mall in Toronto and this is the first week we've had free for her to spend them. Dana took 4 hours to spend what I would in about 30 minutes. She got some stuff she needed, finished getting stuff for grad and got a few fun things.

Haven't talked to my Mom today, but my dad was doing better yesterday, the pneumonia is shrinking in size, and he is being aided less by medical equipment. He was awake yesterday and returned a kiss to my mom when she was leaving the hospital.

I had my appointment, finally. Baby sounded fine but tried to hide for a little bit. No stress since I had checked with my doppler before going. I'm up a pound or two and my BP was a surprising 100/54. No wonder I've been so lightheaded.

Just updating on my appointment today. It went well! The doc did an u/s himself to check my fluid, and it was unchanged from last week, YAY!! Cervix is getting there, more like 1-2cm now. He said he could feel baby's head and the ridges on his head (creepy, LOL). Belly still measures small, but he said that's okay because we have seen that the baby is smallish, but not critically small. I'll be anxious to see if that is accurate.

I do want to decline the induction at 39 weeks, but I'm so darn weak! I think part of the problem is, I feel like my efforts would be in vain. The practice I go to is not in favor of going past 41 weeks (and I'm not really big on it myself, so I'm sure I wouldn't argue with it after that point)... And I feel like I could easily get to 41 weeks and not go into labor on my own. But I guess even if that was the case and I ended up induced anyway, each day in the womb is important, so maybe it would be worth it to argue the 39 week thing. I mean, that's another 2 weeks, even if I did let them induce me at 41. We'll see how it goes between now and then.

In other news, we visited the land we might buy today with the realtor and my uncle the contractor. It's in the boonies and no one is really mowing it or anything, so there are high weeds... We ALL got ticks on us, omg. We found two on Sean AFTER we got home. Ugh. We all stripped and threw our clothes in the washer and went through everyone's hair. The last thing I need is to be pregnant and end up with Lyme disease or something crazy.. Jeez.

I'm still not sure what we're going to do as far as the land goes. No one seems too sure about the situation with digging for well water, so I think what we'll end up doing is trying to talk to some neighbors nearby and ask what their water situation is. I will just die if we buy land to build on and can't even get water. And it's like they expect you just to take that gamble, and I'm just not sure about it. DH really wants to do it, though. We'll see. I dunno...

Virginia - Glad baby is doing well.

Mary - After delivering 100% natural and induced, I would go natural every time if I could. I was considering a midwife with my pregnancy with Natalie until medical issues arose.

    *AFM*

I'm a bit tired and in the office, hope I can be productive today.

The hospital made a big mistake a couple of days ago, he ended up being more ill (temporarily thankfully) because of it. He had lots of tests yesterday and was really tired so I didn't get to go and visit, but my Mom said he is doing better. He's still not in the clear right now, if all goes well we are looking at about 6 weeks until he can leave the hospital and months of recovery at home.

Amanda - Sorry about your dad, jeez.. He can't catch a break, can he? I'm glad the problem was temporary.

AFM - I'm an antsy wreck. The last couple weeks of pregnancy turn me into a crazy lady. Tomorrow is the GA that Calvin was when he was born. I'm excited to be going longer this time, as I felt robbed out of the end of my pregnancy last time, haha. I started packing my hospital bag this morning. So far, I just have some comfy clothes and nursing tanks for myself, two outfits for baby, and camera/batteries/memory cards. My work is having a special larger employee discount day today, so I might stock up on some lansinoh lanolin, breast pads, diapers, etc. I feel like I'm just sitting here watching the clock and the calendar, waiting impatiently. I'm trying to just enjoy it since this is my last, but I'm anxious!!
