That's what I was going to suggest. I hope it turns out to be nothing much! Sick kids are no fun. Raymond had a stomach bug this morning. I bet it'll be Alex tomorrow.

Lauren - GL! 10dpo seems to be my magic day, so when I saw you were there I had to ask.

I'm not sure I'm happy with my ped, either. I like the doctor we see, and I like the other doc Oliver saw in the hosp, but there are a couple office policies which drive me nuts. Like when I take a kid in with a brewing infection and they tell me to come back in a few days if he gets worse. Why can't they just say "call us if he gets worse and we'll call in antibiotics" or, "here's a script. fill it if you think he's getting worse" I understand not wanting to over-prescribe antibiotics, but I kind of feel they just want to be able to charge for an extra office visit. Definitely doesn't encourage me to try to nip things in the bud.

I was so sad to leave the ped I had before we moved. She was awesome. And since she lived right down the street I used to see her at the playground with her kids.

AF is here! I'm kind of glad. I would've been over the moon happy to be pregnant now, of course, but ideally Sept or Oct will work soooooo much better since we have some things planned. It'll be here before I know it!

Katie - HFM seems to be pandemic right now, hahah... I can't believe how many people (both close to me and far away that I talk to on facebook/here) have told me that their kids (and even a couple adults) have had it since Sean had it as the underlying cause of his febrile seizure. Crazy! I'm happy to hear Evan's seems mild.

Lauren - Glad AF's appearance isn't too depressing. It won't be long at all before you're TTC!!

Virginia - I totally agree with what you said about your ped's office. We took the boys in on Tuesday for the ringworm... Of course, Sean's was mostly faded, so she couldn't see it. And Cal's is small (but it was spreading to new locations, hence the reason we took them in). And... She said it was eczema and she'd give him a topical steroid. She said, "If it's not better in a week, call me." I'd be willing to bed they'd make him come in for a new visit... Hence why I'm just continuing my own self-treatment with the OTC antifungal cream, haha. I'm kicking myself for taking them in to begin with... Paying for a visit for BOTH kids to get no more info than I already had.

AFM - Things appear to be declining pretty rapidly with my grandpa. I'm glad he's living in my parents' house and not a nursing home right now. From what my mom emailed me, I'm surprised he made it through the night. I guess he was pretty unresponsive, not urinating (although he finally did), a little combative. My aunt mentioned on her facebook that he was having tremors. My mom said that EVERYONE was there, and their driveway was overflowing and cars were spilling out onto the road.. They've got a pretty big driveway, so that sounds crazy. I'm not sure what today will bring...

Lauren - glad it turned out for the best but I'm looking forward to some ladies on here TTC LOL If I can't POAS I want others to!!

Mary - so sorry about your grandpa. It's wonderful though that your mom is able to take him in her home and knows what to do etc. It has to be so hard though for everyone

Virginia - Sorry your new ped isn't great. It's hard to find good docs

It's a gloomy day here. Maybe it will clear up a little and we can go for a walk or something later. I made the mistake of weighing myself this morning. Ugh. I swapped my bagels for steel cut oats, brought my lunch all week (PBJ, yogurt, nothing junky) and I am still up 2 pounds. Sigh. I REALLY wanted to keep weight gain to like 30 pounds this time.....it's not going to happen at this rate.

Katie - I was feeling the same way about weight gain this time. I really wanted to gain less, and ended up gaining just about exactly the same... So I tell myself my body just knows what it needs to grow a baby! It'll come off after baby is born. I just realized the other day that I had hit my pre-preg weight again, woohoo!

AFM - I'm not sure if I mentioned DH's gma is in the hospital. We're having the worst luck with our grandparents this year. His other gma died a couple months ago. My grandpa is having a terrible time and probably has only days left, if that. Now his other gma is in the hospital, jaundiced due to blocked bile ducts. She also has a mass on her pancreas and is a poor candidate for surgery due to diabetes and other health issues. She is having a liver biopsy done though. Just a bunch of craziness... our poor grandparents..

ETA - OMG!!! I just let Sean eat some peanut butter. He has rarely had it... only small amounts in things. He would never eat it, so i stopped offering. well today, he grabbed a jar off the counter and wanted some, so dh let him lick a little off of his finger. he liked it, so dh just gave him a spoonful of it to eat... his face got all red and crazy!!! pleeeeeeeeeeease don't let him be peanut allergic!! i can't even imagine having to be one of those parents to avoid all things peanut-related. especially because i looooooooooove peanut anything. but i'm scared of anaphylactic reactions, i never want to be a parent that needs to keep an epipen handy. i instantly shoved some benadryl down his throat and i think it'll be okay, but i'm nervous for next time he tries it...

Katie - Sorry to hear Evan is sick, though glad to hear it's not effecting his mood too much, hope he gets better soon.

Hope the weight gain isn't too extreme, as long as your pregnancy is healthy I'd say don't worry too much.

Lauren - I loved the giant Old Navy in Toronto that I went to it was 3 stories and had a HUGE selection, our local store is kind of crappy and never has much stock.

Hope everything gets cleared up for your mom.

I played Natalie the Hot Dog song once on You Tube, we have basic cable so don't get the Disney channel, she absolutely loved it, now every time she's at my computer she wants the song played.

YAY for a well planned AF! Hope you get the date you want for a BFP.

Mary - Sorry to hear about your grandpa, I really hope his passing comes easy for him. I think it is wonderful that your mom is caring for him and keeping him as comfortable as she can at this time.

I thought of you when I was at the pharmacy picking up my botox on Friday, a lady was at the counter complaining at the pharmist about a $16 perscription, saying she thought the gouvernment paid for it kept expecting the pharmist to agree, the pharmasist just looked annoyed. Anyway I think I helped lighten the pharmasists mood when I told her that I thought it was silly of the customer to be compalining about such a cheap perscription, while I was picking up something that is $150 with insurance ($1500 without). I know she seemed much happier after serving me.

    -----

Pretty quiet here, little anxious about AF it's not due till next week but I hate the odd cycles I've been having, I think I O'd late so am expecting it to be late. No word from my family doctor or the OBGYN on an appointment time I might have to call and harrass them.

I am sooooo greatful for public health care, the whole idea of having to pay for a doctors appointment just bothers me especially to ensure a healthy child. I wouldn't want to have to worry about a sick child and the bills

Mary - Ugh I hope you don't have an allergy Evan LOVESSSSSS PB it's one of our 4 sources of protein LOL Since he still refuses most meat Sorry about all the grandparents!

Amanda - I'm lucky as my insurance covers ped appointments 100% both sick and well baby visits. They cover 100% of my OB stuff too. I have great insurance. I know it's a hot US topic but I'd go to universal health care like the Canadians in an instant. The thought of losing jobs or having Evan grow up and get laid off and owe his life to a hopsital bill....ugh so sad. On the flip side if/when you visit the US buy insurance -- Canadian healthcare doesn't cover stuff here. A friend (actually the one who passed away) had her father visiting he had a heart attack and they had a $45,000 (yes $45,000) bill to the hospital. Needless to say he never again crossed the border with out buying travel health insurance.

Katie: Don't stress the weight gain. I gained as much weight with this pregnancy as I did with Breklyn and I ran until I was 35 weeks and ate WAY better so my theory is that you gain what your body needs to for the most part. I ended up gaining more in the first half than I did with her, but then I had a whole month towards the end that I didn't gain any so it evened out. It'll be fine!! Hope Evan gets feeling better.

Amanda: hope AF comes on schedule so you won't have to stress it. I've heard mixed reviews on public health care that you guys have, glad that you like it! My insurance (which is expensive, but all insurance is) doesn't charge us for well-child appointments, but I have a $20 co-pay for any other visits I have to make. I'm just thankful for good insurance because I just got our bills from my birth & hospital stay and they are already over $6000 and I haven't seen MY doctor's bill yet. Crazy.

Mary: I'd bet that he isn't super allergic to it if that was his reaction, at least not so much that he'd have to avoid foods that came in contact with peanuts, KWIM? Hopefully if he is sensitive to it, he'll grow out of it?? Bummer.

Virginia: I don't like dr's like that who want to charge and inconvenience you to come back again IF it gets worse. I love my pedi for that reason - when Brekke's eye started getting clogged (she has a crappy duct on one side that sometimes acts up), she wrote me a prescription just for when it does act up even though when her appointment came, Brekke's eye looked fine that day

Lauren: Sorry AF showed, but glad you are okay with everything. GL next cycle (or Sept/Oct if you prefer that!)

    to everyone I missed!

I've been lurking a lot so I'm around, just not posting much. Dane's 2 week appt is today and I'm curious to see if he's grown much since last week. I was reading Brekke's baby book last night and saw that she's wasn't the same length as Dane until she was 2 months old (hahaha). He's been measured 2x already so I know that it wasn't a fluke. So funny. My new double jogger should be here today or tomorrow and I'm SOOOO excited to get back outside even though I'll probably only be walking for another few weeks. I posted this pic on my BB, check out my kid's hair (it's on FB for those on there so sorry if you've already seen it):

katie - GL with the weight. Raymond recently broke our bathroom scale. I actually kind of like not having one!

Mary - Sean just won't let you catch a break, huh? I hope it's not an allergy! My kids live on peanut butter

Amanda - your health care sounds pretty nice. (again, hot topic, so not getting too into it) We're lucky that ours is pretty good. We have a $20 copay, which adds up, but it could be worse. Maternity stuff of pretty sweet, too. My whole pregnancy and delivery was only $250.

Ash - GL with the appointment! How is everyone settling in with Dane? Is he treating you well?

I'm thinking of switching the kids to the doc I see. She's a family care doc. I have to find out what they do for the ped patients after hours and what not.

Ash, looooooooooove the pic! I love spikey baby hair!

Mary, I hope Sean doesn't have a peanut allergy. Was it just his skin? You've said he has sensitive skin, so maybe he was just having a topical reaction and not an actual allergy... Can your dr do some kind of test to see if he's allergic?

Katie, sorry you're gaining more than you'd like. I gained like 37 last time and would like to keep it under 30 next time around too, but we'll see how that goes! lol.

Virginia, I use my family doc for Xander because I loooove her. Maybe if I had a child with some sort of issues I'd switch to a pediatrician, but so far that hasn't been necessary. I don't think there's anything wrong with using a family doc for the whole family.

AFM, DH is on his way up here. It seems like I JUST saw him, but I haven't since Monday morning. This week has flown by. Did a little more shopping this morning, mainly for wedding cards/wrapping paper/etc., but I also got a few things for Xander and some nail polish that will hopefully go with my dress for the wedding. If not, whatever. I give up. It has a black top and a white bottom w/ a teal floraly design. I am not about to rock teal nail polish at my SIL's wedding, so it's been kind of hard to find a color that looks okay with it. I should just go get a french manicure done or something. lol. I might have to call the nail salon and see what they cost.
