Happy August everyone!!!!!
Mary - oooooh dried up milk! We'll see!
Nothing new here, just making the new thread!
Happy August! I'm giddy at the moment because I just got home from work and almost immediately, Sean went into the bathroom and pooped in the potty for the very first time! YAAAAAYYYYY!!!
ETA: The "dried up" milk must have been a temporary fluke. It's back today. Strange, nonetheless.
Mary - YAY for poop in the potty!!! Evan is wearing Mickey undies this morning and I keep reminding him not to pee on Mickey....he will I'm sure LOL
Lauren - I can't believe you're 18 w already, crazy!
FINALLY at 8 months old Rory's first bottom tooth broke through! He has been a BEAR the last 2 nights so I had a feeling it was coming. I'll miss his gummy baby grin!
Katie - Hopefully he'll be more pleasant now that the tooth broke through! Sean didn't get his first teeth until 8 mos, and Calvin didn't get his till 9 mos. Sean pretty much had a mouthful by 12-13 months, but Calvin is being SOOOO slow about it. He still only has 10 teeth. He has his bottom molars really close to breaking through, then he'll still need to get all 4 of his canines. Then the lovely 2yr molars. Fun times. I HATE teething.
AFM - We're still putting a diaper on Sean at bedtime until he has a firm grasp on daytime training. Anyway, he woke up dry this morning and immediately asked to go pee. Yaaaayyyyy! I'm trying to let Calvin watch him as much as possible, just so he'll understand what's going on and hopefully be ready a little sooner than Sean was.
Brekke has been day trained for months now, but still struggles at night so we do pull-ups for the most part at night. I've tried getting her up before I go to bed to go potty, but she still seems to have issues sometimes. DH was a bed-wetter as a child so we might be in for it with her  And I've totally done the "Don't pee on [insert character here]" and it didn't deter her much in the beginning.
Mary: :goodluck: I'll be stalking you!
Katie: glad his teeth finally came through! Dane seems to be working on some molars. My kids teeth come in sooooo slow (or it seems that way).
We had the kids pictures done yesterday. They were both strangely cooperative and smiley so I can't wait to see the results (although it'll probably be a few weeks or so). Dane has discovered how fun it is to throw things in the toilet and the garbage. Lots of fun...
Ash - oooooh the trash can phase!! We lost so much stuff to the trash can!! I hope all the pictures turned out great!
Mary - woo hoo for Sean going poop on the potty!! I think after we really started potty training that we waited a good month before we started putting Xander to bed in underwear. Maybe even longer... I waited til he'd woken up dry for over a week straight before taking the plunge!
Katie - I hope Rory is acting a little better today now that his tooth is through.
Nothing really going on here..................
Ashley - Can't wait to see the pics!! Your kiddos are adorable!
AFM - Gah, I got my cheapo HPT's in the mail today. I wish I hadn't bought them. The shear thought of being pregnant again after my last two pregnancies is actually really stressing me out. I thought I'd be okay with this one since everything turned out okay in the end with Calvin, but I guess a large part of me is still traumatized. *Sigh* Maybe if I'm not pregnant, I'll just adopt or something. It's probably good that we're stopping at three... I don't think I can handle anymore pregnancies emotionally.
ETA: Hi Lauren! We posted at almost the same time, haha.
Mary - I totally hear you on that! I don't want to be pregnant right now (nor do I really think I am) and today I've had some light spotting -- now assuming it quickly turns to full AF I'm very content a baby in April is not my best plan. BUT b/c I've had 2 m/cs and I'm a total basket case I start to worry what if the spotting dragggs on what if I'm preg b/c if I AM preg of course I don't want a m/c no matter how poorly timed! Sigh I'm 99.999% sure it's just AF starting, which is GOOD. But having had 2 m/cs I'm a total freak now and it sucks every ounce of fun out of the very idea of getting pregnant. Instead of being exciting the idea of it all gives me anxiety.
Ashley - yay for pics! I've been debating getting some fall ones done. I'm torn. I'd like outdoor pics but it makes more sense to do 1 yr and 3 yr pics but Dec can be totally freezing really limiting outdoor possibilities...
Lauren (and Ashley and MAry) - totally jealous of your PT kids! Evan has no interest, sigh.
Mary - Yay for Sean pooping on the potty. I'd personally try traning both boys at once, I love babies but HATE dealing with diapers. Natalie did pull-ups at night until about two and a half.
Katie - Yay for teeth, hope Rory is a little less crabby now.
Ashley - Glad the photos went well.
If you read my dog post you would know that the shelter agreed to let us foster the dog for two weeks, he came home yesterday. There was a breif encounter with the cats, them in the kitchen with a baby gate up, him in the living/dining room area on a leash with DH. Prince (the new dog) approached the gate where Silver (girl kitty) was standing, he gave her a sniff, but within a few seconds Mal (boy kitty) was at the gate puffed up and growling, Prince started barking and jumping. DH said the Prince wasn't being aggressive by what he could tell, more just that he got excited and didn't know how to respond properly. After that encounter we gave the cats free roam of the basement and allowed Prince some supervised time upstairs. Sadie just keeps away, Prince has no doggie manners so it makes her a bit nervous. At bed time we put Prince in the basement bathroom (haven't picked up a crate yet) and let the rest of the animals have free roam of the house at night.
Natalie is doing a soccer skills thing through the city, it is for ages 3-5, she isn't the best at it but she follows direction quite well and is really enjoying it.
Dana is registered in a Jr Leader camp this week, they teach the kids skills to be a camp leader, my mom plans to enroll Dana in St. Johns babysitting course in a couple of weeks, really can't believe how much she's grown up, she really is becoming a young woman.
Katie - Thanks for making me feel normal. I guess m/c's can turn you into a big freak, haha.
Amanda - I hope the new dog is fitting in okay! I figure after a little adjustment period, it'll be okay.
AFM - I posted a testing thread to stalk me.
Amanda - GL with the dog, the first few days can be frustrating when we add a dog here. Just trying to get a new routine, adjust, get the post-shelter anxiety worked out etc. I hope it's going well for you! And it sounds like your girls are busy! In some ways I look forward to activities in other ways I like the simplicity of little boys home playing.
Mary - YAY for stalking thread LOOVE IT!
Virginia - :bigarmhug: glad you're doing ok (from your other thread) but hope your M/S eases so you can enjoy vaca
AFM - AF is HERE! YAY! normal and routine and I'm not tempting fate again any time soon. Rory slept about 4 hours last night, I'm beat. At least Evan is helping to entertain him today LOL Potty score for the day....2 on the floor 0 on the potty LOL
I have a fun freebie offer!
uddercovers.com is offering 10 pairs free washable/reusable breast pads for world breastfeeding week. Go to their website, click shop, and the breast pads are at the bottom. enter promo code "breastfeeding2012". It ends up being like 11 bucks, which is probably a lot for shipping, but I figured 11 bucks isn't bad for 10 pairs of reusable breast pads. I always wanted to try them last time, so I'll try them again next time (or perhaps now, considering I can't stop leaking).
Katie - yay for AF. Boo for no sleep! I hope the PT'ing starts to go a little better.
Mary - Love the stalking thread!
Amanda - I hope everything works out with the dog. Glad the girls are keeping busy!
AFM - Feeling a few BH's the last few days and just feeling a little weird. I'm trying to drink more water and eat a little better. I think I might have had a little too much sugar yesterday - not a ton, but even a little seems to get to me these days. I feel like this pregnancy I am so sensitive to everything - caffeine, sugar, not eating enough, eating too much, not enough water, etc. Any little thing off and I start feeling dizzy and crappy. It's just so weird! I didn't even FEEL pregnant at this point last pregnancy, besides looking a little bigger.
Lauren - I hope the BH's have settled down. You're almost to the halfway mark!!
AFM - Finally off work for 5 days. I just finished my 9-day week, and I worked doubles (14-hr days) two of those 9 days, so I was like ready to shoot myself and/or collapse if I didn't get a break. I took a nap tonight... When it was time for me to get up from the nap, DH unleashed Sean on me, hahaa. It was cute, though, because he jumped up on the bed with me... stole my blanket (which happened to be his little crib blanket for his nursery)... It was the only blanket I could find because DH had stripped the bed to put on new sheets, but hadn't done it yet, hahaha. So anyway, he took my blanket, got a pillow, grabbed The Cat in the Hat (the book) and started "reading" it to me (he reads it from memory). It was cute, haha. I'm so glad to have 5 days off with them.
Enjoy your time off, Mary!
Does anyone know what happened with Karen? I have her on my Facebook and it sounds as if Evan passed away! She hasn't really posted, only a vague one about heartbreak, but a lot of her friends have and that's what it sounds like.......... I just can't even imagine! I hope I'm reading things wrong... I really hope I am! I don't really know how she'd handle me PM'ing her, so I wasn't sure if anyone else had heard anything.
So devastated for Karen and family. No words.....
So sad, I don't know that any of us can do anything but if there is anything I certainly would I've been feeling whiny and miserable about my job, today I was just thankful for 2 healthy kiddos
I don't have Karen on my Facebook, not sure why. So sad to hear about the loss of her son, I hope if she see this that she knows that we are here for her if she needs to talk.
It's really so heartbreaking - I can't imagine having to go through that ever.
I am heartbroken for Karen and her family... Words cannot even describe.
It seems a little odd to change the tone to something overall so trivial but just the same no one else will really rejoice in our potty achievements.
Evan went to the bathroom on the potty by himself with no prompting from me today! WOOT! Of course now he wants me to give him ALL the treats. But still YAY! Now we need to get a poop. I'm feeling like maybe we will get him PT'd by my target of 3 (I'm not really taking a super focused approach which I may regret)
On another note -- Sandra are you around? Did you get a Jetta wagon a while back? I think I remember that. I've been looking at the wagon TDI and wondered if you liked yours
Katie - Yay for the potty success.
I'm a little on the blue side today, DH has been working with the foster dog and he's been doing really well in many aspects, unfortunately he lashes out with unknown triggers. Having a 3 year old and two cats in the house we feel that the dog can't stay so we will be returning him to the shelter.
To try and keep our minds occupied today we are going to the Toronto Science Center after dropping off the dog, I might try to convince DH to go to Cold Stone too (there is one by the Science Center).
Amanda - Sorry it's not working out with the dog, booo!
Katie - Yay for potty success! Sean does poop in the potty now, but he HATES it. He gets all stressed out about it, haha. He'll get used to it eventually, I guess. We went out grocery shopping and went to Target earlier, and he did well. He peed once at Target and THREE times at the grocery store, haha. They were all pretty big pees except the second one at the grocery store was mostly just dribbles. I was just glad he didn't make a mess.
Karen - If you happen to pop in, please know I'm thinking of you guys, sending mental hugs your way. I've struggled to make sense of it in my mind.. It's just not fair, it's not right, I don't get it. *Sigh* Wish there was some way I could help, but I know there's nothing anyone can do.
On another note -- Sandra are you around? Did you get a Jetta wagon a while back? I think I remember that. I've been looking at the wagon TDI and wondered if you liked yours
Yeah I'm a lurker I tend to read a lot but never really get around to replying. I have 2010 JSW TDI. I love it so much! So if you want someone who will give you the pros and cons of it, well i wouldnt be the right person because I love the car I cant think of hardly any negative I only drive in town and i get 35ish MPG. If i drove interstate i would easily get 45 MPG.
If you have any more questions about it, i'm glad to help.
Oohh Sandra I love your review!! I'm SO cheap. I have been looking at cars/SUVs/Vans/Crossovers etc for years. My Hyundai Tuscon is a 2005 that I paid off in late 2008 and haven't had a car payment since. Knock on wood it's been very reliable and I keep thinking maybe I'll get one more year out of it then the year passes and I figure why not another? We've been paying off other debt (school) so I haven't been saving for a vehicle....bah decisions!
The JSW just has so many little features that seem so insignificant but when you look at the picture as a whole, its like WOW. For instance heated side mirrors (GREAT for snowy states like yours!), heated seats, touch screen radio - although I wouldnt let them sell you on the GPS - its like 1 or 2k extra for just a GPS, the upgrade is not required for the touch screen radio which comes with 3 months of free Sirius radio. I can even stream my iphone music through bluetooth OR MDI cable (located in the center console). Ooh i guess that is one negative, the center console can hold like a phone and a handful of change. Its ridiculously tiny. Other random features include DC outlets (one in the back seat and one in the trunk IIRC), locking gas tank door - if your doors are locked, its locked, daytime running lights... stuff like that.
I really should become a TDI sales person.
Karen - just sending some BIG ((((((((((hugs))))))))))) along, just in case you're lurking.
Katie - don't you love not having no car payment? We paid our Honda Accord off a few months back and it's amazing having the extra money to save elsewhere! However, we're both SO mad we got this car in the first place. Don't get me wrong, LOVE it as a car. But we realized after having Xander that we'd love something bigger... An SUV or mini van or something. But it's too late now. This car runs perfectly well and we're not about to take on a new car payment just to upgrade, so we'll be driving it until a) I start working again, or b) we HAVE to replace it. It's just a bummer that we got in that accident while I was pregnant, because we were purposely waiting til Xander was born to see what kind of car we'd want. But things didn't work out that way.
That said, I guess you're about to take on a car payment, eh? Still, super exciting to get a new car!!!!
Sandra - HI!
Mary - Xander was weird about pooping on the potty for a little while too. But it didn't take long til he realized it was much better and now it's no biggie. Glad your first outing went well and there weren't any accidents.
AFM - I've been feeling the baby a bit harder and more frequently, and last night he/she kicked so hard a few times in a row that my entire stomach popped out with each little kick! Even DH got to see them and he was so thrilled! Of course by the time he put his hand on my stomach to feel them the baby went into stealth mode. haha. The same thing happened when I was pregnant with Xander, the second someone touched my belly other than me the baby would completely stop moving, but they'd move their hand and he'd start up again. hahahaha. I always thought it was hilarious. Especially since if I touched my stomach the baby seemed to know and would just keep on bebopping along. This is seriously the best part of pregnancy, the part that makes all the CRAP worth it. You get to have your baby all to yourself and I just love that so much! I love having that special time that's just us, even if I do have to feel like I got hit by a bus half the day to experience it...
Sandra - all the reviews talk about how VW has done a really good job of keeping it a higher end interior. I HATE the interior of my car. It's cheap....which makes sense I mean the vehicle itself was pretty cheap. I'd like something nicer though especially since I will drive the next car another 7-10 years (hopefully!). I just put new tires on my car so we'll see if I do anything soon.....I think we can pay off the last of DH's college debt by Jan then my focus will probably be a car....I hate trading one debt for another though drives me crazy!
Lauren - YAY for feeling baby move!! It is the best part! I forget will you find out what this little one is? I remember Xander was a surprise by accident
I finally uploaded vacation pictures. It made me depressed that it's over LOL Especially since work has been AWFUL lately. Like so bad the VP is sending "hang in there" e-mails. Sigh. I even applied to another job I saw posted locally. I don't know that I'll even get an interview but something about putting my resume together and submitting it made me feel less like a whiny whiner who moans and does nothing about it.
I also just e-mailed the photographer that came back in Dec and asked if she'd come take pics of us and the dogs! I want FAMILY pics LOL
Katie - I saw your pictures on FB this AM - looks like you guys had a lot of fun! Our vacation plans this summer got thrown out the window when DH got this new job and had to be in CA all summer long. I have no idea when we will get to go away now, especially since he spent vacation $$ flying back twice to spend the weekend with us. Boo. My sister used to have a VW and loved it! She just bought an Altima though. Woohoo for potty success!
Lauren - Yay for tons of movement! I miss that so much!
Mary - Glad Sean did so well on your outing! Like I said on FB, I'm not really looking forward to those early diaper-free outings (especially with a girl and NYC toilets :Shudder: )
AFM - I think I am going to go buy Lily some training undies this weekend, she has asked to go to the bathroom several times already today - she has been dry for most of them, or had just started to pee. She had gone backwards for a bit recently, pooping in her diaper and waking up wet (both of which she really hadn't done in a LONG time) - I think it's kind of a reaction to DH being gone along with normal toileting process. I'll be off from the 16th - 9/11 though, so I figure it's a great time to work on it.
I thought this important and I really hope that Karen doesn't mind me posting this since it made the news.
I sadly found out what happened to Karen's son Evan, I'd just like to put it out there to everyone please be careful with your young kids around water and pools, keep them well supervised.
Karen, you and your family are in my thoughts.
I had an incident when Natalie was younger in the tub, she ended up face first in the water, thankfully I was right there and prevented anything tragic from happening, but things could have been far worse.
Lauren - Yay for big kicks! When my girls did their kicks everyone got to see/feel. My sister nicknamed Natalie Ripley because of the movement (think the alien movies).
Katie - Glad you enjoyed your vacation, going back to work does stink. Hope the job starts getting a bit better, I hate it when work sucks too. It would be so cool getting pics done with the whole family, including pets, hope you share some.
Erica - Hope you can get Lily back into a potty routine, sometimes they slip up.
Natalie had several accidents in her pants this week, most of them have been happening at summer camp I think the summer staff at her school aren't as diligent about getting her to go on a regular basis and she's not comfortable asking.
On the potty-training front, we are still chugging along. We've gone out the last two days for a few hours each time, with no accidents. The first day was grocery shopping and a trip to Target. Yesterday we went to buy a new potty (I hated the one we had... It had a foam seat cushion and I NEVER felt like it was clean and it disgusted me)... He does prefer to use a small potty when possible, so I got him one of the small, solid plastic baby bjorn ones. I was hesitant to get it, but I love it because it's so much easier to clean and he apparently loves it because he peed AND pooped in it within 20 minutes of having it home. We also survived a trip to old navy to buy them a few clothing items and.... drumroll.... a trip to a sit-down restaurant, with no accidents! Yay! If anything, he's a little overzealous and asks to go potty sometimes when he doesn't really have to, but I'd much prefer that over not telling us and waiting until it's too late. Today, we're going to the zoo, so it'll be our biggest trip yet. I'm going to be sure to take lots of extra clothes, undies, etc. Hahaha...
I will share in potty training stories (we are an exciting bunch of wild mamas). Last night Evan pooped on the potty!! We had no accidents at home yesterday! We haven't ventured out w/o diaper yet and naps/bed time is still totally diapered. But I may send him to daycare tomorrow with extra shorts and undies.
When you're out how do you take them to the potty? The thought icks me out LOL
When you're out how do you take them to the potty? The thought icks me out LOL
So, when Owen PT'd back in March, I was terrified to take him anywhere. I was freaked out by the thought of public restrooms, plus Owen was NOT a fan of "big" potties back then. I was also afraid he'd pee everywhere! I gained some confidence through a friend who told me to slap a pull-up on OVER his underwear when we went out. That way, he still felt the "wetness" of peeing, but you didn't have a crazy mess to clean up in public! Also, when I take Owen to public toilets, I pull his pants to his ankles and hold him under his armpits so that he's leaning over the toilet, and let him go. That way, (most) germs avoided!
Yay! We survived a trip to the zoo in undies with NO accidents! He did great at telling us when he needed to go. As far as using public bathrooms, I do pretty much what Jen does... Pull his pants down around his ankles and sit him on the seat. I support him just a little under his armpits... Then LOTS of hand-washing (his favorite part).
I think the public toilet thing freaks me out the most about toilet training.
On the topic of public restrooms, he pooped in a toilet at a restaurant last night, woohoo!!!
So glad to hear all you ladies having such great potty success, I love being rid of diapers.
hey all. I'm going to jump in here. I'm not going to have a chance to catch up too much (thanks for the PMs though).
First, it's Alex's birthday! 3 already. Wow.
AFM: vacation went better than I expected. The MW upped my zofran to 4x a day and that has mostly done the trick. In the past week I gained back the 4lbs I lost the week before! But, I'm still terribly tired and if I miss my dose by even an hour the m/s peeks through again. So, still have symptoms, no bleeding. Thank goodness for the u/s or I'd suspect everything was going well. I have my follow-up Tuesday morning then we'll figure out the plan. It's gotten a little tougher since I started feeling better. I'll be 9w Tuesday, I don't want to have to go back to zero and start over again. I still feel pregnant, I'm starting to bulge a little, but in a week I likely won't be pregnant. It's a weird feeling. But, I'm still doing okay. I have to do some research on d&cs to find out what I'll likely be going through in a few days. eek.
Virginia - big (((hugs))) for your appt on Tuesday! I'm glad the m/s is at least taken care of so you don't have to go through all that, too...
Mary and Katie - glad PT'ing is going well!!!
Amanda - sorry Natalie had some accidents. Hopefully the staff starts to ask her a little more frequently. I'm sure they'd rather take her potty than have to clean up.
On the public potty thing... I bought Xander a travel potty seat - you can get them at Walmart or wherever - it collapses and fits in my purse. He'll let me hold him on the potty, but I like the seat since he avoids all the germs and stuff. haha.
AFM - just got back from camping for the weekend! Xander did GREAT! He's never done so well at the campground before. He had a blast at the beach and at the parks and stuff. Plus the weather was gorgeous (for once). A good weekend!
I look freakin' huge! I need to take my most recent belly pics off the camera... Maybe during nap time today. I feel like I got giant in the last week.
Virginia - Happy Birthday to Alex! Do you get another ultrasound before doing anything? Hope things go smoothly no matter what happens.
Lauren - Glad to hear you had a good camping trip and the weather was nice.
Can't wait to see the belly.
Saturday was fun filled for DH and I we went to see both Total Recall and Bourne Retribution. Loved Total Recall, it was a fun filled action movie, exactly what I was expecting. Bourne Retribution was a bit of a disappointment to me, especially after seeing the other films. The acting from Renner and Weisz was great, but the story I felt didn't flow well and the pacing was just off, to top it I didn't like the shaky camera in the chase scene (which I felt was far too long) and the big bad guy was really one dimentional.
Sunday I went to my Aunt's house for a second fitting on my bridesmaid dress, she did a great job, got it fitting perfectly. She also lent me a pair of shoes and purse that match really well.
Slept poorly last night, not sure why, I am exhausted at work today.
Hoping to start my couch to 5k over again this week, might do it tonight to get my butt in gear.
Lauren - Can't wait to see the belly pic! Glad the camping trip was enjoyable.
Amanda - Glad the dress is fitting well. You'll have to share some pics of you and Natalie from wedding day!
Virginia - KUP. Glad the nausea is manageable now.
AFM - Heading back to work tonight after 5 days off. The other pharmacist at my store has been on vacation for the whole last week also, so it's going to be interesting for us to both show up today and see what condition the place is in, lol. It has been nice to be home with the boys for 5 days, but it makes going back that much harder. We didn't do a whole lot while I was off. We did go to the zoo on Saturday. It was GREAT weather for it... Overcast and cooler. It has been way too hot all summer to go, up until now. Unfortunately, everyone else in the area decided to go that day also, so you really couldn't see the animals unless you were ready to battle a crowd. I much prefer to go on a Wednesday morning or something, hahaha. I have the 5 days off again in 3 weeks, so maybe we'll go again on a week day. I really want to see the new baby amur tigers, but I didn't want to wait in the huge line for it on Saturday. The cooler weather that day got me excited for Fall, to wear sweaters and get all cozy.
How is everyone?
Ugh... I've been dealing with too much work stress. Crazy irate drug-seeking lady last night caused me to lose sleep and have nausea/diarrhea. Seriously, I should NOT be that stressed over work. It's not worth it. I'm just so freaking sick of narcotics and the people who abuse them. I think I need a new job. But unfortunately, I need the money that this job brings me since DH doesn't work (hospitals and other sites don't pay as well as retail). I hope that once the kids go to school, DH will go back to work and I can cut down to 4 days a week. 4 days a week would still give me my insurance, 401K, stock benefits, etc... But would be a lot less stressful. One can dream, right??
sorry you're so stressed, Mary.
AFM: just got back from routine appointments for Alex and Oliver. Alex is 38.5" (standing) 76th percentile and 40.5lbs 98th percentile. Oliver is a whopping 33.75" 97th percentile and still only 26lbs 11oz! 76th percentile. I'm amazed about a couple things. First, I checked my records and Raymond was a pound heavier than Alex at this age (also an inch taller, but he was measured lying down). Also, Oliver is almost 5lbs lighter than the others were at this age and an inch taller! Wow. He's going to be like 6'4" when he's grown. Alex, my shorty, should still top 6'.
Virgina - you have some tall boys!!
Mary - boo! That sounds stressful. I can't imagine having to deal with that all the time. Is it the location you are in or would it be this bad in any pharmacy?
Amanda - good luck with the couch to 5k! I want to do something like that, but really never stick with anything exercise wise.
I am officially on vacation until sept. 11th!! Yay! Also, DH is going to be home in just under 2 weeks!! So happy! We are going to visit my family today - we'll stay there a few days. It will be really nice to have some other people that can help out with Lily, I am looking forward to taking a shower & peeing alone!!
Ugh Mary that sounds pretty rough! My neighbor is a hospital pharmacist and she loves that. But she and her husband both work - I'm sure that helps! I hope things improve!
Virginia - I hope you're doing ok ::hugs::
Erica - YAY for time off, DH coming home and some time with family! Sounds great all around!
AFM - Ugh work. I really shouldn't complain b/c I have a job that pays well, only requires me to be in the office 3 days/wk and is stable. But things in the office are so awful. Like one of the senior guys grabbed me yesterday looked me in the face and said "you're smart, you're young, you're educated - look around here and get out when the opportunity arises." UGH can't beat that for morale. On a brighter note we are only using diapers at bed time now! Evan is a deep sleeper and has always been a really heavy night wetter so I imagine we'll have diapers at night for a while but 2 days of daycare he had ONE accident each day! In the busy distracting daycare I was psyched! AND Rory slept in today (sleeping in is 7 am but I'll take it over 5:30!). Mind you he slept in b/c he found my pillow and happily slept on it. I suppose I shouldn't let him or something but at 8+ months old the child never sleeps more than 3 hours at a time so I think he can handle a pillow....
Erica - Yeah, I think the location of my pharmacy DEFINITELY plays a role. I don't know why, because I'm small in size, not at all confrontational, not intimidating, etc... But I ALWAYS, ALWAYS get put into the very high-volume, inner city, ghetto stores. ALWAYS. So yeah. I know every pharmacy I've ever worked in has had it's trouble-makers, drug-seekers, problem patients, etc... But I float around to help out in other stores for overtime sometimes, and my store definitely has a higher concentration of drug-seekers. It's hard to be immersed in that daily... I've become very jaded in a relatively short amount of time (5 years). It's easy to forget that there are real, normal people with real, normal medical problems in the world because I spend a large portion of my day dealing with narcotic-seekers. Ugh. I know a girl who recently made the switch from retail to hospital pharmacy and she's in love, doesn't know why she didn't do it sooner, etc. But I have very little hospital experience (not to mention the pharmacist is always responsible for attending code blues, and I'm not cool with watching people die), so I feel it would be a bigger jump for me.
Woohoo for vacation! I would looooove me some vacation right now, hahaha. I do have another 5-day weekend coming up in a couple weeks, then 7 days of vacation in late September. So I have some time off to look forward to, but it seems like an eternity away.
Katie - I'm glad Rory slept well. Hopefully he'll keep it up for you. I can't believe he's 8 months old already!
Virginia - Your boys are so BIG, hahaha. I wish I had our most recent stats handy. I know Sean was 36" and maybe 32 or 33 lbs (I thought 32, DH thought 33.. I'm usually right, hahaha). Calvin was 23lb 12oz at his 15-mo, but he's almost due for his 18-mo, which reminds me, I need to make that appointment!!
AFM - I didn't win the powerball yesterday... *tear* $320 million sounded quite nice, hahaah. I rarely play.. Mostly just when the jackpot gets huge like that.
Mary - Sorry you had a rough work day Tuesday, hope you had a better Wednesday.
Virginia - Your boy are BIG! Natalie is my petit girl, she weighs about 27 lbs and is about 35", at 3 1/2 years, lots of small genes from both sides though, DH is the tallest in his family at 5' 8.5", my dad's side of the family are all short too.
Erica - Yay for vacation, glad family will be there to help you out.
Katie - I totally feel you on the job front, I may only work 3 days and get decent pay but sometimes it's just rough. Yay for Evan doing really well with potty training, night is the most difficult cause you can't remind them to go, just make sure you get a bedtime routine making them pee before they lie down, also no drinks at night. I think you've done great. Glad that Rory gave you some extra sleep.
Night 1 with puppy went really well, we didn't have a crate so we blocked the ensuite bathroom door with a baby gate and he settled in really well.
Night 2 was disasterous, my aunt brought the rest of the parts for the crate over and we put it together and set it up in the bedroom, we put him in it and he cried and cried, tried the bathroom again, he jumped the gate, so back in the crate he went and he cried on and off most of the night.
Did some research and found out that I can't let him nap before bed time so tonight we'll be keeping Apollo up until we start to settle in, and we'll likely do it a little earlier than last night, worst case we get to sleep earlier.
All cats and dogs seem to be getting along, it does help that Apollo is a really laid back puppy.
Dana thinks he's great, mostly enjoys taking care of him (not too fond of cleaning up after accidents). Natalie is a little nervous around him, he likes to jump up and give kisses and her being little that doesn't go over well.
The girls are both sleeping in, it's 10 am and they still aren't up, I'm so glad cause the puppy kept me up at night so it gives me time to just relax.
Amanda - I thought you had decided to take the dog back... Did you change your mind?? I hope things will work out. (ETA: Oops, just read your post on the other thread and realized it's a new dog!)
AFM - I just asked my DH if we were still "on" to TTC #3. I was a little confused because he's usually all over me (lol), and ever since this cycle, he has been avoiding me like the plague. Okay, not necessarily avoiding me, but certainly not trying to get any either, hahaha. So anyway, I just asked him earlier what was up and what he was thinking about it. He told me he wasn't sure if it was still on, so he wasn't pushing the matter, hahaha. So we decided we'll still give it a try. Today is CD11 and I'm just starting to get some slightly fertile CM. It should be good timing that I'm off work this weekend.
Ladies, I need MASSIVE "good luck" vibes today! I heard through the grapevine that the pharmacist who works in the store close to where I grew up and near the town we want to move is actually REALLY wanting to get into the Columbus area. She actually used to work in our area, mostly as a part-time floater, and I've worked with her on several occasions and I love her, my techs love her. She got tossed out a while back when they terminated a bunch of pharmacists due to lack of work. She was just a part-timer then, and they eliminated a lot of them from my district, but she was apparently able to retain her job with that district on the condition that she drove to that store everyday. So she never wanted to work there and was put into that store even when I was ASKING to be there. I think they really do not want to move me out of my store because of the store it is. It's high-volume, ghetto, not the easiest store to work in... I've been there 3.5 years now, and I think it's just not a fun idea for the higher-ups to think about restaffing it, so they'll avoid it and pigeon-hole me in there if possible. But now, I called her up the other day, asked if it was true that she wants to be working in my current area, and she said yes. I told her that I REALLY want to work in her store, so now... We are in cahoots to try to get this thing going. She said her boss is an a$$ on his best day (great, my future boss, potentially)... My boss is really nice, so we decided that it would be best if I approach him about it. So please, please, please keep your fingers crossed for me... I'm going to try to call him about it today and see what he thinks. My current manager and store manager both say they're going to be really sad to see me go, but they know this day has been coming and that they'll have my back, help put in good words with the higher-ups, etc. My mgr almost talked like he felt it was a done deal. I'm SOOOOO hoping this goes through, because so far this has been my only real hope for getting away from this house by the bar and moving to the area where we want to live. Gah, I'm excited, but also scared that our higher-ups will shoot the idea down as it just creates more work for them. We shall see!!!
I'm doing fine. I updated the other thread.
Mary - good luck! I hope things work out and the boss isn't as bad as she says
ETA: since you're going for #3, may I make a baby gear recommendation? Check this bag out. I got one on a whim when it was on baby half off (or one of those sites) and I love it. It's my diaper bag and when I'm out with the kids i throw my keys and wallet and phone into one of the numerous pockets. And I use the carrier feature a lot. It's so nice to have it on hand if, for instance, Oliver throws a fit in the shopping cart seat or I find myself at a store without carts. Or if I just don't feel like bring a stroller (now that he can walk).
Amanda - yikes. Natalie is Oliver's size! I was like that, too. Even to me he looks a lot older than 15 months. Good luck with the puppy.
katie - I say give Rory whatever he needs to sleep. Do you think it was that he had a pillow or that he had your pillow? Maybe you could try substituting a worn t-shirt or something and see if that works?
