Ashley - Yay for outside movement! I love that phase!

Mary - Sorry to hear everyone in your house is getting sick, hope it passes quick.

Katie - Hope the reunion thing goes well. I have been in touch with some of the people I know from HS on FB, some have families but I'm not sure how well we would get along now in the real world we just have such different views on family.

    *AFM*

I do like the fact that Canada gives you a year off, though it is at 55% of your pay, YUCK! The other down side is finding care after that year, the rate is $45 a day and most places have waiting lists.

Since Nat's in pre-school instead of daycare (since the good ones cost the same) she is getting a lot out of it, she's already doing simple reading, she's writing phonetically and shes doing math with aids. It's just amazing what she's picking up in pre-school, and she only goes 3 days a week, well worth it.

Still no strong signs of AF yet... as of tomorrow I will be approximately 1 week late. Not sure what to do, I hate that HPT's are expensive (just to buy 1 or 2) and I'm pretty sure it would be negative anyway. My family doctor at this point won't likely be open until Wednesday, I may call whether I get AF or not.

I'm not sure if it's just me but a couple that DH and I are friends with had a baby less than a month ago, tonight the Dad just spent the night drinking (about 45 minutes away from home). I always liked having DH here and able to take care of kids when they were infants if he'd have pulled something like that when I had a child under 6 months I'd be freaking.

That said DH and I don't drink, he doesn't like the side effects, I can't with my med's and never saw the point since most of the stuff I like the taste of just like kool aid or fruit drinks.

Amanda - I never understood the people who wanted to go out drinking right after having babies, either. Seems like I've known several women who did that also. It's just crazy to me. Even now that mine are older, I'd still prefer to spend the evening with my babies than out drinking somewhere. I just feel like I outgrew that phase after college. Seems like a lot of people don't outgrow it, though.

Katie - I'll be anxious to hear about your HS get-together, hahaa... I haven't seen most of my HS classmates in the past 11 years. I think the last time I saw any of them was probably in 2004 or maybe 2005, hahah... It has been a looong time. I do keep in contact with several of them pretty regularly on fb.

AFM - Work was hell today. The work itself wasn't bad at all, really, but I just felt sooooo worn down from being sick the day before. I could barely hold myself up. Now... The IL's are here and it's nearly 8pm and they're showing no signs of leaving any time soon. Ugh. I was honestly hoping to go to bed at like 8pm. I swear. When I was growing up, my parents taught me about not wearing out my welcome. Apparently no one taught the IL's this lesson. GRR.

It was fun...a little odd at moments but fun. two 6 month old babies, a 3 month old, a 4 year old girl, my 3 and 1 year old and a 2.5 year old. The kids had fun playing (the older ones). We laughed about pumping and nursing and mom stuff. 2 moms are pretty much exclusively pumping, one of them is a super pro BF'ing (not nasty at all just like uber in to her mom groups at home etc etc) funny to see how people turn out. All were nice and kids were cute, mine mostly behaved so a win all around!

Amanda - ya to each their own I suppose. I know a number of parents who do a lot of "them" time things - concerts, small trips, nights out etc Their kids are well loved and cared for so if it works for them so be it. On the flip side we've been on 3 dates in 3 years LOL not really our thing but I love me some wine so I will not judge drinking lol I'm not drunk but I have my trusty glass of pinot next to me now, kids are in bed

Mary - hope they LEAVE! BAH!

Katie - Glad it went well! It is really strange to see how people turn out (especially if you happen to fill their prescriptions). I only fill for a small handful of people I went to school with, but some of it is a bit sad, like one who is massively hooked on narcotics (but very nice about it, and it stemmed from a legitimate injury as so many do) and one who is on high-dose anti-psychotics (but never seemed at all mentally imbalanced growing up).

AFM - So I'm feeling mostly better from the stomach virus, probably 80-85% of my full self, but now I'm contending with some sort of respiratory issue. I would say maybe I had the real "flu", but I don't think so, otherwise I assume someone else in the household would've had the respiratory end of it. But I can't hardly breathe. I feel really short of breath and my sinuses are stuffy and draining and getting mild nosebleeds. Blah. I just need a week to sleep and recover.

I read everything, but it'll probably be awhile before I can type responses... At least not when I had 4 pages to go through! lol.

Things were going really well around here with Benjamin, but this weekend he ended up getting quite jaundiced and has been going downhill steadily all weekend. Now he's all tired (and not newborn tired) and his nursing basically blows now. I've been pumping after nursing him so I can give him a little extra, though I'm not getting much. He's getting quite orange, too. We called the on-call dr yesterday and she's having us wait it out til the office opens this morning at 8:30 and then we're to call and get him in asap. He hasn't pooped since he had a muconium poop on Thursday morning, so that's what's causing this. Which probably means he's not getting enough hindmilk, even though I thought he was nursing awesomely before this weekend. Shows what I know! Anyway, I have no idea what'll happen. I'm hoping they give him a suppository to poop and maybe a photolight blanket for us to use at home for awhile for the jaundice. I'll probably go see the LC again to see what I can do to get him to nurse better. I even went on Friday just to have her check my latch and he assured me I was doing great, but obviously I am not. Ugh! My poor baby, I just can't believe any of this is even happening. Hopefully they don't want to readmit him in the hospital or anything. He's still awake and looks around/at us/etc. so it's not like he's completely lethargic or something, but he's on the road to that if we don't get him in.

Alright, done pumping so gotta run! I gotta say, when you nurse AND pump you have next to no time to do anything else!!

Good luck, Lauren - Hopefully it's not as bad as you think. When Calvin was little, he looked SUPER jaundiced to me... I was really starting to freak out about it. Got him in to the doctor, and she said it was really not that bad. I had some pictures on fb where he was sitting with Sean, and Sean looks white while Calvin looks yellow. People would comment to me that Calvin looked like he had a "sun tan" and that just made me feel worse about it. It was good to get some reassurance from the doc. Or at the very least, they'll be able to help you fix it if it is too much.

How was your Christmas with a new baby?!

AFM - Whatever the weird shortness-of-breath issue was last night seems better today. I hope it doesn't come back. It seems like it's probably too early for the uterus to be crowding my lungs..? I don't know. I don't recall ever being overly short of breath with previous pregnancies, so I'm not sure if it's a pregnancy thing or an illness thing, or what... I just hope it doesn't come back today.

Right now we pay $20 per day for daycare, so $100 per week. And all I have to supply now is Diapers. Most around here are 125-150 a week but she goes to a private church so it's off the map so to speak.

I can't imagine getting together with some of the people I went to HS with. I'm Fb friends with most and they still blow my mind. But I'm glad it went well.

Lauren- I hope he gets to feeling better and the juandice isn't as bad as it seems.

Mary- Do you all have any name ideas yet? I hope you all get better soon!

AFM- I'm working today. Madison is at home with DH. She's such a rotten mess these days. "Mommy where are youuuu" seems to be the question of the week. It's too cute. DH has had an awful sinus infection this week but seems to be getting better. But you all know how it is when the "man" is sick. lol.
Have a Happy New Year ladies!!

Alright, his numbers were a little high - but not scary high. He was an 8 and he said anything over a 12 is bad (as-in needing light therapy, etc.). The biggest issue is getting him to poop so he can get the toxins out of his body already, so we're to give him 1 tsp Karo syrup in 4 oz water once a day til he poops. Hopefully he won't need that more than one day. Of course, a 1 week old can only hold 1 1/2 oz of liquid in their stomachs, so I don't know how he expects me to get 4 oz in this kid. He only drank a few sips of it before falling asleep. sheesh. I guess we'll just have to get it in him little by little. We go back to check his biliruben levels on Wed to make sure they're not going up.

Christmas was, um, I don't know. I was SO tired still at that point and had only gotten a few hours of sleep in the previous two days, so really it's just kind of a blur. I swear, having a baby in the middle of the night and getting zero sleep is the WORST! You just cannot catch up on sleep! It's only now, a week later, that I'm somewhat starting to feel normal again. I just haven't been able to catch up. But Xander was adorable! He was really into the whole Santa thing and was all excited to come downstairs and find his Minnie doll. It was cute. And he actually enjoyed opening presents - even during his birthday a few months ago he wanted nothing to do with them. But this time he got into it, though he had to play with everything he opened immediately after opening it, so it took awhile. ha.

Everyone have a Happy New Year! Someone drink some champagne for me PLEASE! I would love a glass! I considered buying a bottle and having a tiny glass, but so much of it would go to waste... Plus I'm so tired the last thing I want is any sort of alcohol.

Lauren - Benjamin sounds JUST like Sam! He didn't poop for several days after his meconium poop shortly after birth, and got progressively jaundice as the days went on. We ended up staying an extra day for him to lay on the blanket in our room, and then we took a blanket home with us. It was a PITA, though, so we didn't really use it. At that point, we knew my supply was crap, so we had started supplementing at night, so that got things moving for us. I hope he poops for you soon!!

Mary - Glad you're feeling better! Hope the shortness of breath goes away for you.

Molly - I hope DH feels better soon! Too funny about Madison! Welcome to the lovely 2's!

Katie - Glad you had a relatively good time with your old classmates! I've seen a select few over the years that I've stayed friends with, but it's a very SMALL select few!

AFM - Craaaazy weekend! We did DH's family Christmas, so it was insane (6 kids under 6!). The boys got a ton, and Owen had an absolute BLAST playing with his older cousins. My two are the youngest, so it's taken a couple of years for Owen to be able to "keep up" with the older ones. But now that he can, it's so awesome to watch him! He adooooores them. And it's nice not having to constantly keep an eye on him, too.

Hope everyone has a lovely New Year's! Hopefully we'll get to see the ball drop! Last night Sam got up to eat at 12 AND 5:30. I'm hoping it's because he's a.) on the brink of crawling, b.) had to tank up because he barely ate all weekend (I think he needs to go back on his reflux meds), or c.) was overstimulated from two super long days at my IL's. Either way, we're tired after last night! Haha. So hopefully he'll be back on schedule tonight!
