Katie: I think day care definitely has benefits like gaining social skills. Brekke took a while to learn how to interact with other kids when we started her in gymnastics in the spring because she'd never really been around kids her own age. Glad the kids and adults had fun at your little "reunion" - kind of fun hanging out with people who have kids similar in age to you.
Jen: hope Sam sleeps for you better tonight! Dane always woke up at night to eat when he was about to hit milestones. Glad Owen had fun with his cousins
Amanda: I'm glad DH isn't a "go out for drinks with the guys" kind of person either. Not that he's especially helpful (he does get better as the kids get older) but it's just nice having adult company at night after being with the kids all day. And I'm with Katie, once the kids are in bed, that's when I'm ready to kick back with a drink!
Lauren: poor little guy, sorry about the jaundice issues! Dane got fairly jaundiced in the week or so after we brought him home and I was terrified they'd want to readmit him. Luckily, being July, we just spent some time outside and it was fine. Glad his levels came back where treatment isn't needed. Pooping vibes for your little guy! Kuddos for nursing and pumping...I could only stand to pump if I really needed to because it's such a time hog!
Mary: glad you are starting to feel better! I'm a few weeks behind you, but I had a day or two about a week or so ago where I felt like I couldn't get a full breath. I think my lungs are maybe expanding and that my body wasn't sure how to handle it or something. It was annoying but short lived. Hope yours proves to be the same.
Molly: GL with the sick hubby. They are a bigger PITA than a sick kid sometimes!
Wow that was a lot of catching up, I didn't realize I was that far behind! Kids are napping and I have a ton of to do. We're going to a party our friends are throwing tonight with our kids so it should be fun. The NYC ball drop is 10 pm my time so I'll probably pack up the kids after that...they'll have a hard enough time staying awake that late. DH is planning on taking Brekke skiing again tomorrow but we'll see how she is after staying up late. Not that I'm opposed to leaving earlier, but it would be fun for her I think to do the countdown and all that. And I guarantee I'll be asleep before midnight Alright, I have got to get some laundry sorted and put away and move all the pens/sharpies up where Dane can't reach them (he recently found them in our office and is obsessed - definitely a recipe for disaster!).
Lauren - sorry to hear about the jaundice I really haven't dealt with that at all, Evan was just a tiny bit but it resolved before we left the hospital and Rory wasn't jaundice at all. I hope he'll poop for you soon! i'm glad he's doing well and Xander is too!
Ashley - sharpies, oh that sounds like disaster! Kids up until 10....I think mine would be messes. 9 is really late for my boys, they start to totally freak out by then! But I hope you have fun! Going out sounds like a good time!
Mary - I hope you're feeling better!
Molly - I hope DH is on the mend!
AFM - low key night here! DH made beef wellington and it was amazing and we're drinking a REALLY good bottle of wine and I'm enjoying a good book. The boys were tired and in bed by 8. Nothing much planned for tomorrow. It's my bday so we'll go to my mom's for some pizza early.

Hi girls - You guys were chatty yesterday! Haha. I had to work until 10pm (home at 11), then we stayed up long enough to watch the ball drop and went to bed. Yes, the kids stayed up till midnight too, hahaa. They both passed out hard once we took them to bed, though. We all slept till 9am, so it was pretty good.
Katie - Your dinner sounds yummy. I'm so freaking hungry right now. Not sure what I'll have for breakfast. DH likes to have pork and sauerkraut on New Years Day, so that's in the crock pot for later, hahaha.
Ashley - I hope you guys enjoyed your party.
Lauren - It's good to hear the jaundice isn't too terrible. Hopefully he'll poop soon and things will be better.
Molly - I have the same reaction to a lot of my old high school people, lol... It's funny to see how many of them really have not grown up AT ALL.
AFM - I think I've got some mild respiratory thing going on... My sinuses have felt weird and I've been having to blow my nose a lot. My lungs feel a little weird too, and the shortness of breath is still sorta happening, although not nearly like it was the other day. Hopefully it'll just stay mild and go away.
Mary - mmmm sauer kraut... My DH hates it, so I hardly ever make it. I cant believe both boys stayed up til midnight! At least you got to sleep in.
Katie - sounds like a glorious night to me!
Ash - yeah sharpees would be bad. Lol.
AFM - Benjamin still hasn't pooped after that syrup, ugh.but honesly he's just acting better and looks better. I read that some bf'd babies just take awhile to start pooping (and the dr said that too). It's not the norm, but happens. He has been nursing really good since yesterday evening, so let's hope he keeps it up.
My DH has been a total crab lately. I think he's just overtired, but it seriously makes me want to smack him. I'm getting a fraction of the sleep he is right now, so if anyone is going to act like a baby it should be me!
Benjamin has been sleeping in bed with us... He just flat out refuses to sleep in his cradle and wants to be near me all the time. It was kind of scary at first, but we've adjusted. But I worry that it's going to take a long time to get him sleeping on his own. Also he likes to nurse in bed sometimes and last night I totally fell asleep!theres nothing scarier than waking up an hour later with your baby still attached to you! How many things could've gone wrong?!? I need to not to that if I'm super duper tired again (as I was last night). Only if I know I can stay awake....

Lauren - Ha you won't get judgement from me on the cosleeping Rory slept SMASHED against my boob for the larger part of 10 months. He would only sleep touching me enjoying an all you can eat all night buffet LOL Despite all of that he sleeps in his crib all night now - he was really hard to get to that place but as it turns out I am more stubborn than he is Early on though mama needs SLEEP and baby does too so get it how you can is my vote! I'm hoping you get some poop today!
Mary - DH and I moved up to bed and rung in the NY from the comfort of our bed. Ball dropped, TV turned off, we went to sleep. WILD TIMES Then the kids had us up at 7. Sigh. It's great having an 8pm bedtime except for the 6-7am wake up LOL
It's my bday.....yay 31 LOL TV, coffee, reading that's the excitement here

Lauren - Calvin has never slept a night in his life where he wasn't with me. It's bad, but we spent the first 2 months of his life sleeping on the couch (it reclines) in the reclined position with him on my chest. He wouldn't lay flat to sleep, so at his 2-mo appointment, we started reflux med and it helped, and he laid flat to sleep. That's when we went to bed, but he went with me. It still freaks me out a little to this day, even though I've done it with both babies and it turned out okay. I think I'll give this one another try in the bassinet part of the PnP until he's too big for it, then go from there.
Katie - I wish I had an 8pm bedtime. Ugh, half the time I'm just rolling in from work at 11pm. It sucks. I'd gladly get up at 6-7am everyday if I could be home and in bed by 8pm each night.
AFM - Finally scheduled DH and I for our eye appointments. I'm DYING for new contacts... I swear I've worn this pair like twice as long as recommended, and they're getting really uncomfortable. But this is the first year my work has offered vision insurance, so I wanted to use it if I was going to have it, and not just pay cash for everything, ya know? So we're doing that on Saturday and my eyes are going to be so happy.
Lauren - Glad you got Benjamin checked out, hope he gets better soon. As for the dozing off with baby in bed, I did it A LOT with Natalie, I would wake with her on my chest. I agree with Katie get the sleep any way you can.
Sorry your Christmas was a bit of a blur, couldn't imagine having a baby in December. Happy to hear that Xander was entheusatic about it.
Mary - Possibly a cold causing shortness of breath? I've had a sinus cold for the past week.
Yuck on working New Years eve, at least you got to watch the ball drop with the kids and got to sleep until 9 am.
Yay for now having insurance for eyecare, that is one thing that the gouvernment doesn't cover here, so glad DH's company has insurance. I do have to book Dana in for an appointment since she is struggling with reading things up close.
Molly - It's too cute when little ones want you and ask for you, but it can sometimes be too much.
Jen - That is a lot of kids, when doing stuff with DH's family we have 4 teens and 5 kids (Nat being the youngest).
Hope Sam is just off because of the long hours, I know it puts lots of kids off.
Ashley - Hope your new year was fun, did your DH get out skiing with the Brekke?
Natalie still gets into trouble at 4 with her colouring stuff, she'll get in a mood and colour on walls or furnature, thankfully only on a rare occassion.
Katie - Sound's like a nice peaceful New Year. Happy Belated Birthday
Keeping it short I should be working (and I already did personals while "working").
AF showed on Saturday so that's a relief.
My friend that was out drinking is at home he couldn't get time off over the holidays. His wife went north to visit family with the baby, and of course mom has lots of help from family with the baby. So he wasn't drinking while baby was at home.
