    Default December Chat Thread!

Hello everyone! Sorry to be so MIA lately... Life is nuts. It was nuts already, but now add in the holidays, and ugh, I need a huge nap.

Thanksgiving was pretty good. We visited DH's family. We didn't go for dinner with the aunts/uncles/cousins, etc. This time, MIL made a dinner with everything special so the kids could eat it with the food allergies. We went to visit everyone after that, so that was nice... I didn't have to worry as much and they could eat more stuff. It helps that Sean outgrew the milk allergy, so he could eat a LOT more this year.

In other allergy news, we went for another dose increase of his peanut today. He is up to 175mg, about 30% of a peanut! He's still on tract to eat a whole real peanut right after the first of the year. So exciting!! We also fed Calvin some peanut butter in the office today and he didn't seem to have problems with it, but I'm still nervous since that was his first known exposure that he will have a problem with it next time. But for now, I'll take it as a small success. At least I got past the fear enough to let him try it (in the allergist's office).

AFM - I had another set of brain/neck MRIs about a week and a half ago. Got the results yesterday and they're the same as 6 months ago. Brain still looks normal, still minor disc bulge in the c-spine that isn't affecting the nerves. I don't know what to think. I see the Lyme doctor again on Friday, so I'll be getting the results of those tests soon also.

    Nolan Matthew - 5/1/13 @ 11:54pm 6lb 4oz, 19", 38w4d

Mary- that is great on both boys with the peanuts! I'm glad your scans came back normal even if it doesn't give you answers. I hope things get better

Happy December! My baby turned two yesterday. My big boy is four next week. So not the month for me and baby fever

We spent thanksgiving in Philadelphia at my sister's and it was so much fun. The boys had a ball.

Work is good just very busy!

Mary - Glad things are going well there, now just to find out and get a treatment for your Neurological problems, they are sooooo hard to diagnose.

Katie - Happy Birthday to both your boys.

    *AFM*

Had my treatments on Friday, forgot to bring some Ibuprofen so it was a bit rough.

Natalie was sick on and off over the weekend, my mom had her during part of it since DH and I went to see Huger Games Catching Fire.

Catching Fire was better than the first movie but still not great.

Monday I stayed home with Natalie while she recovered from being sick, it was a good thing cause I needed the rest too.

Yesterday and today I've been in the office, not much work to do, so it's kinda relaxing too.

I am a bit stressed about Christmas, I haven't got much done, mainly because of Mal's (the cat) surgery putting a damper on the budget, we've been paying the credit the vet gave us back every 2 weeks. This week is our last payment, so things should be easier from here on out.

Sorry to be MIA. DH gave me a Kindle Fire for my birthday and I can read on that, but not post.

Mary - I am so glad your MRIs were normal and the boys are doing well with peanuts! What a relief that must be.

Katie - Good luck with the birthdays. We had Raymond's party Saturday and it went really well. I can't believe I have a 6-year-old! Oh my.

Amanda - We're way behind on Christmas stuff, too. We just realized last night we've done almost no Christmas shopping. We thought we had, but we had really just taken care of everyone except the kids. oops.

AFM: Life is insane, but we're getting by. New baby plus holidays plus super busy DH plus a toddler who doesn't nap anymore and still barely talks (we're supposed to get his speech assessed, but it'll have to wait for January). whew. I wish Arthur would sleep, but other than that (and the 6-week fussiness) he's awesome. I usually have to do bedtime on my own and often he and Oliver are both over tired and both want my sole attention and both cry a lot. It's not much fun.
Arthur had his 1 month check-up on the 27th and was already 13lbs 6oz and 23". Oh my. He looks like a 3-4 month old (in 3-6 months clothes and they fit really well) and he's 6 weeks. Uh oh.
He's becoming all smiley. I took a bunch of photos yesterday. Here's my favorite (no smile, but I still love it)

I have my 6-weeks appointment this week. I'm hoping it goes well. I kind of suspect that having such a big baby so quickly did some damage (weren't you worried about that after your 2nd, Katie?). I have to ask the MW whether she thinks my body can handle a 5th. Then I have to decide whether my mind can handle it. DH seems open to the idea. I'm undecided (I really want a nanny to help me out right now. ha.) but I imagine I'll come around and want one more.

Virginia - How can you think about having another so soon? Earliest I was ready again was 3 months after Natalie, and she was small and came fast.

    *AFM*

Got some shopping done on the weekend now we are broke. Got the tree up and decorated with DH's family. Christmas stuff is getting done slowly but surely.

My appointment went pretty well. For some reason my tear is still bleeding slightly sometimes, but everything elze was great. No prolapse! My hematocrit is up to 38.3 from 22.7! And I have permission to have more if I want. Eek. That means dh and I will ahve to eventually make a decision.
Arthur hasn't been sleeping wel in general, but last night he slept 8.5 hours!

Virginia - he is beautiful! Is it just me or does he look a lot like Raymond? Sounds like things are good but crazy which I can understand! And YES after Rory I was really worried about a prolapse for a while. I just felt a lot of pressure. It's hard to explain but it felt different than Evan. I think with a toddler and Christmas coming I just did too much right away and things probably were lower. I didn't have any internal tears but did have one external. Anyway it took a couple months and I did a lot of kegals for my own sanity but everything feels just fine now. No leaking, no prolapse that I can tell. I probably shouldn't admit that I have never gone back to the OB-GYN after having him....I feel fine in the lady bits LOL I will probably make an appointment here just to establish myself with a doc/midwife. Oh and I fully expect you to have more With faces like those little boys how could you not?!

Amanda - I definitely understand. We have been careful with money since we have 2 homes and DH isn't working. On that note DH is looking for a job somewhat more seriously since our house doesn't seem to be selling. Once he's working life will be busier but finances will loosen considerably even if the NY house doesn't sell for a while.

AFM - Work has been good. Last week I had a crazy trip to Santa Barbara, CA. With the weather my first flight was cancelled my next flight got me to LAX at 12:30am missing my connection to Santa Barbara so I got my rental at LAX and drove arriving at 3am which to me was 6am which meant I had been up for 24 hours. I slept 3 hours and went to the store which should have been ready to roll the day before grand opening. Not so much they had all sorts of issues I was at the store working from 8-midnight at around 1:30 am I went to sleep got up at 6 back to the store for grand opening then took a red eye home. I'm still recovering from lack of sleep! House is decorated and shopping is done, our first Christmas away from family will be a little bittersweet though. I'm still adjusting. I love the job but still working on making friends which isn't what we're best at (does that make us weird?). I'm just not a super joiner and it's just hard as a busy family to meet people. If DH gets a job and we have the kids in daycare I imagine we might make some friends that way....maybe...

I hope everyone is doing well and keeping healthy. I have a bit of a cold but I think I am at the tail end of it, fingers crossed it clears by Christmas.

My uncle had some Maple Leafs tickets that he couldn't use and offered them to DH and I, we took them and got to enjoy a game last night. The Leafs didn't have a very good night last night but I still enjoyed myself, was nice to go out and do something different with DH.

Frustrated with Natalie's coach the Hockey pictures have been in for ove 2 week and he hasn't taken the time to go to the office and pick them up. So that's delayed me sending out my Christmas cards which I have had for over 3 weeks, now my cards aren't likely going to make it to people by Christmas. Might send the ones to friends that are local (that I don't give pictures) tomorrow and pray they get to them on time.

Yes, he looks just like Raymond! Your description of the post-baby discomfort sounds a lot like what I was feeling. It has improved some in past 2 weeks. And we've lived here for 3 years and still don't have many friends. we're too busy with our family to get out and meet people.

Sleep took a turn for the worse again. Poor guy has a nasty cold. He's developed a cough today (only when awake). I hope he doesn't end up with croup or anything.

Amanda - DH was just talking about hockey as NC has a team and he thought it might be fun to go sometime. Glad you had fun but sorry about the pics BOO!

Virginia - maybe the difference is that we don't have family here. We really didn't spend a ton of time with friends in NY but we had a fairly large support system available any time and that's a comfort we don't have here so I feel a bit like we need to make friends. Like if we were to have a 3rd baby we'd have no one right now to watch the kids...but making friends is weird LOL

Things here are good. We started looking at daycare/preschools. Oy. 1 we LOVE but it has room for Evan not Rory. It was very small, hands on, nature focused. Just felt great. Then we went to a larger facility and it was kind of sterile (for lack of a better term). Not bad it gets great rankings but it didn't feel like us. The first place talked about nature walks and getting muddy the second place talked about their plastic playgrounds with perfect rubber matted ground to prevent dirt and mess. Just different philosophies and we felt much more in touch with #1....except the whole no room for Rory. Sigh. SO we see 2 more tomorrow, 1 on Friday and 1 on Monday. Crazy but good....
