Does barrier method actually work? LOL. DH and I are awful with barrier methods.

LOL!! Two days in to the month and I realize I'm still posting in January. Yeah, DH and I are pretty good about using condoms if we KNOW it's a bad time for a baby... And it really is a bad time for another baby for us. I don't think I'm going to use any hormonal BC anymore. I just hate it all. I've been an insane, hormonal weepy mess for days. It is horrid, sobbing at the drop of a hat. I thought I'd keep an open mind and try BCP as an adult... Thought it might have a different effect on me than it did in my teens/early 20's, but no... I feel EXACTLY the same, and I detest it.

ETA: My DH said he can tell a definite difference in me with the BCP vs. without. And thank goodness for that, otherwise I'd be embarrassed by myself right now. I'm just stopping it cold turkey. I only had 4 more days to go before I got to the blank pills anyway. I want this crap out of my system ASAP.

In other news, we're going to go to a craft store shortly to look for some photo props. I'm going to attempt my own pics of Calvin for his first birthday. We'll see how it goes! I have a couple weeks left to plan it anyway. I'm also going to attempt to make his birthday cake myself. I'm sure I can make it taste good... But I doubt I can make it look that pretty. I'm NOT a cake decorator.

Mary - I fully understand your reasoning behind not wanting to take BCP, though my mood swings weren't nearly as bad as yours I still had them on the pill, I didn't like what they did either.

Good luck with the photos, I know it's difficult to get pictures once they start walking. I can bake some really tasty things too but I couldn't decorate to save my life, LOL. That said I've always wanted to take a lesson in cake decorating at Michaels, but never wanted to do it alone, wish my BFF had more time on her hands (she's single with a house so she works 2 jobs) it would be a great thing to do together.

    This is a bit gross.
I really don't know what to do with Dana, she's constantly skipping having lunch and then eating junk in it's place. I'd have less of an issue with it if she didn't try to hide the food she doesn't eat, yesterday I found about a weeks worth of rotting sandwiches in the main bathroom cupboard. In the past she's hidden it in her room, I found an orange that was more green then orange with mold. It's unhealthy in more ways than one between the mold and the not eating properly that kid is going to land herself in hospital. The problem is I've talked with her over and over, called her principal at school and her hockey teams trainer has spoken with the girls about proper nutrition yet she still doesn't listen. I'm going to call my family doctor next and see if she'll have a talk with her. Anyone have advice on dealing with an incredibly picky 13 year old? I've given her options, I've asked her what she wants for lunch but time and time again she keeps just not eating her food. It's frustrating!

Anyway today I am working, hope I can be more productive than Wednesday.

Amanda - I'm no help I ate nutter butters and ice cream for lunch through most of High School. My sister as a kid used to throw food behind the radiator or hide it in her baked potato skin (pretty creative she was only like 8 lol). We always ate dinner as a family so that was always a well balanced meal but outside of that I probably at nothing but crap. I still don't really care for most lunch foods and eat pretzels and yogurt most days Maybe it's just a phase?

Mary - GL with the pics! I bet you can do an awesome job!

I can't believe it's Feb already! Rory is 2 months old and I only have 2 weeks left of leave! CRAZY! I took pics of him yesterday. He's such a big boy. In Carter's he's wearing 6 month stuff fairly comfortably. It's a little big but fits much better than 3 mo stuff. Monday I'll get actual weight and length info on him at the doc. And he'll get his first shots. Poor baby.

Mary, sorry about the BCP. I only ever did okay on Yaz, all the other stuff made me crazy (yet I still took it for 10 years, haha).

Katie, I can't believe Rory is 2 months old already!!

Amanda, sorry to hear about Dana's diet. That's such a tough age and there are always body issues. Do you think she's not eating much to stay skinny? Or is she just really really picky?

    Jen, HI!

AFM, well my CM has turned watery and I'll probably O in 1-3 days. OMG! I am in shock, like I could be pregnant in just a few days! Not that I'd know for a few weeks, but still! EEEEEEK! For as long as I've waited, it really feels like this snuck up on me! HAHA! Celebrating with some champagne tonight, probably the last alcohol I will be having for a loooooooooong time!

Lauren - Enjoy TTC. I hope it is a short journey for you! All your TTC excitement makes me miss it just a little! LOL.

Amanda - I had the same thought as Lauren, regarding Dana's food thing. Do you think she's entering eating disorder territory? Trying to stay too skinny? Etc.. What sort of "junk" is she eating in place of her real food?

Katie - I can't believe you're almost back to work already! Time goes way too fast, holy moly! Then again, I can't believe I'm planning for Cal's first birthday... WTF?!?!!?

AFM - Going to my friend's baby shower tomorrow (the one whose baby came early), so I'm going to get to meet a 5 or 6 day old baby. OMG, I'm going to die. And I'm no longer on BCP... I'm going to be in trouble, haha. Speaking of no more BCP... My AF came today. I've never been so happy to see that witch. I just REALLY want to get my hormones back in order. I couldn't handle that any longer. I'm so much happier already...

ETA: 5 babies in the last week amongst my facebook friends. 2 in my mom's family, 3 of my college friends. 3 girls, 2 boys. Baby fever? Nah, I didn't get any sleep last night, so I'm too tired for that now, hahaha.

Mary - I love the bunk bed photo. I don't know if I could put 4 boys in one room... we'll see how it goes with 3 together! Hope you figure out what to do for BC. I can't do BCP either, sounds like we react the same way. GL with all the babies around!

Katie - good luck with the transition back to work. And I can't wait to hear Rory's stats!

Amanda - I lived off junk as a teenager, too. I think my best advice would be to try as hard as possible not to have junk around for her to eat. And try to get her involved with planning meals and/or cooking dinner. Maybe ask what she'd like than talk about ways you can build a healthy meal around that food.

Lauren - have fun TTC! I hope we get some lovely BFP pics from you in a couple weeks.

AFM: Oliver is so different from the other boys with nursing. My others, if given finger foods and water for lunch would be happy. Oliver eats it then is like "That was great, Mom. Now I want my milk I don't really mind. I figure the longer I avoid Oing the longer we'll have before the next baby, which is good because I've started to realize that with the others I was TTC or getting ready to TTC at this point! I kind of want another, but I know it's better to wait a while.
Oh, Oliver also now holds on with his teeth while nursing. It's not biting (he does that sometimes) just constant light pressure. It's not terrible, but definitely not pleasant. I hope when his next tooth (#8!) works its way through he'll be gentler again. I have no plans to wean him soon, but I'll enjoy the rest of our nursing more if it involves his teeth a little less.

ETA: Who am I kidding... I want another. I'm just not quite sure I want to take on a new level of craziness. And I'd like some sleep. Oliver still gets up 4-5x some nights. We have to move him out of our room, but that means in with the other boys and I'm not sure I trust them enough yet.
