Getting this started.
Katie - Hope things get moving on the house, best of luck. Awesome that your DH found a low stress, close by job, YAY!
Virginia - How have you been? What have you been up to?
Hi everyone else :wavehello:
Natalie had a hockey tournament on Saturday, it was all just fun no score keeping, but Natalie did score her first goal. After the tournament we took her to see her first 3D movie, we saw Frozen and she LOVED it was in awe at the visuals, didn't scare her more than a normal movie does.
Sunday we went to visit my BFF who had her baby a couple of weeks ago, she is doing well, looks gorgeous, would never think she had a baby. Baby was so cute, you forget how small they are, she's especially small weighing under 6 lbs. I can't believe Natalie was the same size at one time.
Today I am in the office, nothing exciting going on right now.
Amanda - YAY for Natalie! I have heard Frozen is fantastic I think it might be too long for my boys though. I'm glad your friend is doing well and you got to see her and the baby
Except for the two floors we are holding off on the house is back together. PHEW. Now I worry it will fall apart again but we are going to leave the water winterized and turned OFF so even if the power were to go out or something it would be ok. But I will fret. I think DH or I will probably go back every few weeks to check on it from here on out. I should know the final insurance answers this week but we have all the final numbers and we can handle it either way. Naturally I'd much prefer INSURANCE handles it but we won't sink if it doesn't. So fingers crossed.
I'm doing okay. Arthur's sleep has been rough so I've been pretty tired. We've ditched the swaddle because he's a thumbsucker. Hopefully as he gets better at actually getting his thumb to his mouth he'll sleep better. He does great falling asleep in his own bed, he's just up a lot to eat and I keep falling asleep with him.
My sister and her husband are starting IVF. She's pretty disappointed and doesn't want to talk about it. I'm really hoping everything goes well their first try and that they are able to welcome a healthy baby (or two) by the end of the year. They deserve this so much.
Virginia - I hope it goes well for her the first try and she can celebrate a healthy pregnancy soon. It must be so hard. I hope Arthur gives you some longer stretches soon!
AFM - things are good today Insurance paid out in full today woohoo! SUCH a relief! We have 2 people seeing the house, someone there today and someone tomorrow. I'm trying not to hope too much that works out but I really am. I also went to the birth center and I really liked it. The LONGEST you stay is 12 hours. I LOVE that. So I think I'll move forward. I set up an appointment in three weeks at 10 weeks along so we'll see how that goes but all seems good!
Yay for good news on the house! What a relief.
12 hours at the birth center sounds pretty nice. I don't know if I'd be ready to go home so soon. My body does labor well then craps out after. With Raymond and Arthur I couldn't sit up for a while after, let alone stand. With Alex I fainted the first time they got me up. With Oliver I did pretty well, but was exhausted (he was born 22 hours after my water broke). I'd give it a try if I had one nearby, though.
I'm really not sure how to handle wanting another baby or two when my sister is struggling so much. It makes me feel selfish and greedy even though that doesn't make a lot of sense. My having kids young has in no way influenced her ability to conceive, but sometimes I feel guilty just the same.
Virginia - Definitely isn't logical to feel badly but I think I would too if my sister was having a lot of trouble TTC. It has been so easy for me. Maybe it's the helplessness of it - you can't do anything, you can't fix it, and you know what you have is what she wants which is painful. I hope the IVF goes smoothly and she is with her own LO soon. If you need to stay past 12 hours they actually transfer you to the nearby hospital. I was up and showering with in hours of both births so if I had a similar birth it would be fine with me. Since I'm expecting to be group B strep + again I will have to stay the full 12 hours and the next day a nurse will visit at our home.
Well we got feedback that the people waiting to see the house upon seeing it again are very interested and discussing it over the weekend. ACK. I have no control over this and I shouldn't waste time thinking about it but I can't help it. I'm fretting and anxious hoping it all works out....wondering if/when we'll hear....
I hope they go for it, Katie!
Virginia - Fingers crossed that your sister gets a healthy pregnancy out of the IVF.
Katie - Really hope your house sells.
Finally a day of rest. Friday was busy cleaning up and running around shopping. We hosted a party for the Winter birthdays in my family on Saturday. Sunday we did groceries and than hockey. Yesterday I worked.
Been pretty lazy today, just messed around on the internet, watched olympics and am doing some laundry. Gotta get Chili in the slow cooker for dinner.
Happy 8 weeks, Katie! Seems like its going quickly. Crazy to think there's a chance I could be TTC by the time your LO comes.
Thanks! It does feel fast....I haven't told work (or anyone but you ladies and DH) and I am going to need to soon. I have a 10 week appointment and I'm hoping I'll hear a HB and then I can tell people. YAY for you TTC again Keep the baby train rolling!
Uff DH and I have had a bit of a stomach bug this week. Not super fun on top of already feeling pregnant off.
Still waiting to hear on the house. The potential buyers asked us some questions so they are still interested just waiting on an official offer....
could be TTC. DH is totally not on board yet. But, I had crazy baby fever yesterday after Arthur slept 8 hours straight! His sleep has been screwed up by cold after cold, but whenever he's feeling better he reminds me what an awesome sleeper he can be.
Oliver has been backing off the nursing. He went two weeks without asking then started again. The other day, out of nowhere, he asked to nurse while we were out at his brothers' dance class and tried to pull my shirt down. I don't think so. Not in public at almost age 3. I mean... you have to draw the line somewhere, right? I haven't NIP with him since he was maybe 14 months, but he also hasn't asked in all that time.
Speaking of NIP, Arthur won't do it. He gets too distracted, so he'll only suck a few times (just enough to get let down, of course) then start looking around as milk sprays everywhere. Of course, as soon as we get home he screams to eat and pigs out. It's really weird.
I'm pretty liberal on BF'ing but I see your point with a 3 yo in public I mean to each their own if you were comfortable go for it but I can see asking him to wait.
I'm sure your DH will get on board 8 hours YAY!
We accepted an offer on the house. Less than we had hoped, sigh, but a solid offer, they have a conventional mortgage nothing funky to deal with and we negotiated a good bit to both of our limits so let's DO THIS!
awesome news, Katie.
Oh, and I'm totally getting a girl vibe for you.
Yeah, I would have no problem with someone BFing a 3 year old in public, except that the only time I saw someone BF a 2+ year old she was on her cell phone at the same time. Personally, I know he can wait and I don't want to make other people uncomfortable (it would have been in the middle of a wide open waiting room) so I distracted him with regular food.
DH feels like 4 is enough, but sometimes admits he kind of wants another. I figure even if he doesn't agree, sooner or later we'll manage to forget to prevent. (not that we're currently preventing other than BFing on demand)
I got to talk to my sister. She said she's doing daily injections, so it sounds like they didn't make her do a month of BC first! I have my fingers crossed for a niece or two in November, Not that I would mind a nephew. She has essentially 0% chance of getting pregnant naturally (no tubes), but the doc said her odds are around 50% per IVF cycle, which is awesome.
On the milk topic, this is coolBoys and Girls May Get Different Breast Milk - Scientific American
DH has always thought a third would be a girl. I don't have a real vibe. I would love a girl but obviously a third boy would be fun too. Now boys are what I am used to! Anything else seems odd
Glad your sister has such good ivf odds. I really hope first time is a charm
That breast milk research is really interesting. I am looking forward to another nurser...I am generally looking forward to the whole newborn thing....well minus the lack of sleep I suppose.
I swear Evan would eat all day right now. We are trying to keep options healthy and let him be full but Jeesh it is non stop eating!!
Oliver isn't much of an eater. He often declines offered meals, but about once a day he'll suddenly start eating a lot. It's weird compared to the others who want 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. Oh, and Oliver practically lives on bananas, apples (2-3 a day of each), and cheese. He'll do crackers/pasta, carrots, yogurt, and milk, but not as often as the others.
So quiet around here...
Hope everyone is doing well. It is in the 60s here this weekend and just beautiful. It makes some of this moving stress worthwhile Spending the day outside enjoying the beautiful weather is good for my mental health.
Inspection happened yesterday and all seems well. I think there are a couple more tests to come in - the house is well water so the water test wasn't in house but we drank the water and tested it while living there so hopefully all will be well. I was a giant ball of nerves yesterday just b/c it feels like we've been on a crazy roller coaster and I'm just ready to be done, get the house sold and move on!
This coming Friday I have my first midwife appointment. I'll be 10 weeks, I hope I can hear a HB....I eager for something to confirm for certain. Then I have to tell work, ugh LOL I think they'll be fine but it is always a bit awkward.
DH started work and while we sell and buy it makes sense for him to work but we have been seriously discussing him going back to being home once the baby arrives. It worked well, it made us very happy, we just need to be sure financially it's comfortable.
I'm glad things are improving, Katie. I hope you MW appointment goes really well.
DH took some time off last week, so I wasn't on my computer much. And Arthur still doesn't sleep well at night (although he's a champion napper!). I got hit with crazy baby fever yesterday. We were at a museum with the kids and at one point I looked around then counted the pregnant women I could see. From where I was sitting I could see about a dozen, and only one woman who wasn't (visibly) pregnant. Crazy. Of course, DH had Arthur in the carrier, so the baby fever hit. Holding Arthur is usually a pretty good antidote.
We would just have to figure out how we would survive the morning sickness again. I'm all for hiring a nanny so I can spend a month in bed.
Doing good, nothing really exciting or worth sharing happening, just sitting here wishing winter away.
One good piece of news, Dana got her final report card for her first semester in high school, she got all A's.
That's awesome, Amanda!
I heard a heartbeat today! YAY! So exciting! And our inspection last week came back totally fine so we just need to get appraisal and the buyers cleared to close and we will be home-free Literally! Hope everyone is doing well!
awesome! when do you get an u/s?
AFM: long one, typing one-handed. Arthur had his 4mo . At 20lb 13oz and 27.5" he's the size of a 9 month old and outgrowing 6-12mo clothes! He has some plagiocephaly (thumb sucker, so he almost always sleeps turned to his right) and we'll decide around 6mo whether he needs a helmet to correct it. hopefully not.
we just found out we might e moving at the end of june instead of the end of aug. yikes. but, it works out better if we do decide we want a 5th because we'll have time to settle in.
my sister has her egg retrieval and fertilization tomorrow. please keep her in your thoughts over the next few weeks. if this works, she'll be due on my birthday! so excited and nervous for her.
