Happy August - Chat Thread

Well these are a little sparse these days but since folks do seem to check in I figured I'd start a new thread for August.

Next month is baby month for me and I'm starting to get really excited. I'm just starting to feel a bit awkward in size and movement. This has been a seriously easy pregnancy. At my last visit the midwife thought he was head down but wasn't 100%, they have a little portable u/s machine they check with at 37 weeks if I want it so I will probably do that to be sure.

DH and I volunteered to be soccer coaches for Evan's U6 team. Well an e-mail came out that enough kids for 10 teams signed up but enough coaches for just 3 so either they randomly picked 3 teams worth and dropped the others or more coaches needed to offer. Since I want to meet people anyway I figured why not? I did warn them we would run in to a week or so along the way the baby will come and we might need back up but the coordinator said once things are running usually other parents are happy to help and cover. So what the heck, they are under 6, how hard can it be? HA!

I've been on a sell things on Craig's List binge. We had a really nice double stroller I don't expect we'll use much. Rory has never been a big fan of being in a stroller and Evan is too big. Rory isn't going to stroll if Evan is walking so I figured we might as well sell it and use it to buy a new infant carseat. Sold that last week! Then I decided the couch we had up in the attic storage wasn't realistically going to be used any time soon. We thought it would be good when we refinish the attic room as a spare room but that is a year or more off. So I figured if I could get what I wanted for it (it was used for about 8 months, ugh, sad waste of money lol) I'd sell it. And we did! I really don't enjoy dealing with CL people but it has been a nice little bonus! I think I'm officially out of random things to sell now though so that's the end of my windfall.

We interviewed a nanny last week and have a part time back up potential person coming over today. It's nice to think we'll have some kid coverage soon! Of course now we want to test both out and I need to think of a fun date.....I'm so programmed to have the kids with us outside of a nice dinner I just can't think of much!

And in other exciting random news Rory is out of diapers except for naps and bed!! He had one accident at daycare Thursday and one Friday but he tells us when he has to go pee and is doing great! If he gets really busy he will have an accident but all in all he is diaper free! Poop is a work in progress though he tends to do it at night in his diaper, it took Evan a full year after being potty trained to reliably poop in the potty so I'm just rolling with it.

That's all from here....

all great news, Katie!
so, DH and I each lived with our parents for three weeks, closed, moved in, and almost immediately went on vacation. Things have been pretty crazy and so... well... guess who might be in the 2ww? I seriously have no idea where any of our BC ended up. I haven't been paying much attention, but I'm reasonably sure I Oed a couple days ago. I haven't had PPAF yet and usually don't have a competent LP right away so I'm not too worried.

Virginia - Oh boy I wonder if you will have your oops Smile You have always suspected it could happen! I will be curious!

I'm feeling ready to meet my LO. Just itching to have him here but since I have a history of being overdue I probably better settle in and wait!

All else is calm. We should be on vacation right now. Sigh. Instead we cancelled when DH's father passed away. I did find a local photographer to do family pics once baby is here. I'm pretty excited. We're not doing newborn shots, it will be mid november. I'm looking forward to family pictures Smile

7dpo and feeling fine. I'm tired, but that could just be from staying up unpacking. I finally got out my thermometer this morning and my temp is definitely in post o range. Either af will show in the next few days or I'll test at some point. If I am pregnant I should get really tired and kind of grouchy and anti social anytime now. And we're supposed to go but a car tomorrow.
Timing wouldn't be great because the m/s would hit just as the kids are all starting school at new schools.
I can't believe you're so close, Katie!

Arthur is still nursing on demand a bunch (including one or twice at night), so I'm surprised to be at 7dpo. My first lps after the others were 4, 4, and 6 days.

8dpo and twiddling my thumbs. Bought a honda odyssey, finally. Temp is still up and all.
But, I thought of something today. The morning if Aug first I had a ton of ewcm (with spotting) and I had been having sore ovaries and o pains for a couple weeks. But, that afternoon I did a half mile swim. I'm no exercise fanatic, so that's way more than normal for me. Then my fertile signs disappeared. So, maybe I oed, and maybe I scared my body into giving up.

I was wondering if you upgraded to a full sized van! We're debating it. I'm hoping we can hang on we have 0% financing on our Highlander and it will be paid off in a couple years, the same time our lease is up on the VW (which we leased quickly when we moved, don't hate it don't love it). So we were thinking it would be nice to have the Highlander paid off and get a van and just have a van payment. But that means a couple years of 3 kids across the back.

Lazy weekend here. Rainy and grey so mostly just hanging out. Let the kids watch too much TV but sometimes you just need to veg. I meant to get to a store to look at infant seats but didn't. I meant to dig out Rory's hand me down clothing too and sort it. Didn't do that either. aw well I have a little time

It's looking like a 9 day lp for me. No real af yet, but spotting today. Temp is low, too.

Well your body is getting active again. Have you and DH discussed a fifth? Does it have to be an oops or might you just go for it?

Another easy appointment with my midwife. I now have all my appointments scheduled through 40 weeks! I am excited to be in the final stretch!!

How is the house virginia? Is it nice to have a place that is yours?

I don't think we'll go for a fifth for a bit, if ever. We really need a chance to get settled and get the kids all started at school and everything. And Arthur needs his milk (I lose my milk shortly after getting pregnant). If things are going well in a couple months, I might be open to actively trying.
The house is great. I just wish it had more furniture and fewer boxes! We ordered a swing set last night.

We totally had our swing set delivered the week before we moved right after we closed on the house Smile My boys love their swings Smile (and slide and climbing area).

So here's a randomly awesome technicality. I'm at work a year October 7th. FMLA doesn't kick in until a year. So I have 12 weeks as of October 7th so basically the earlier this kiddo comes the more time home I have b/c I'll use disability/leave of absence prior to that. So this kid could be awesome and come at like 38 or 39 weeks and have an extra couple weeks with me home. I am sure I won't be so lucky considering both boys were late but I'm going to hope Smile

Katie - Glad the pregnancy is going well, can't believe baby is going to be here so soon. O.o

Virginia - Glad you like your new place. I could move I am so sick of how little space my current house has especially for storage.

*AFM*

The girls have been enjoying their summer sports, Natalie in soccer and Dana in ball hockey.

I got my learners permit for driving, but am a nervous wreck when it comes to trying to drive, I wished I learned to drive sooner. I'm looking into getting lessons after the kids are back in school. If all goes well we'll look at getting a second car in the spring.

Natalie really wanted a pair of knock-off Chuck Taylors (shoes) we saw when shopping but they are tie up, so the deal was she could have them if she would learn to tie them, sure enough after one 30 minute session with DH she knew how to ties shoes. Love when bigger kids hit milestones.

And as one last thing I'll share a pic of all my kitties together.

Hi guys!

Katie - I can't believe you're already almost due!!! Didn't you just announce your pregnancy!? Hope the nanny passes the test so you can mark that off your to-do list.

Virginia - glad you're liking the new house. Sounds like you've been super busy!

Amanda - how cool that Nat learned to tie her shoes so quickly. Glad the kids have been enjoying their summer activities.

AFM - How is summer break already over!? Xander started his second year of Pre-K on Wednesday, but I feel like I was just picking him up on the last day... FAST summer! He was so excited to go back to school and just walked on in like he owned the place, hardly pausing to give me a hug goodbye. lol I'm happy to have my 2 1/2 hour break back in the morning, well, "break." I still have Benjamin and BOY is he a handful! He keeps me on my toes, that's for sure. He learned how to climb on the couch, so I'm always catching him standing on it or throwing himself backwards on it. It's only a matter of time this he tumbles off, but we have an open house and there's no way I can keep him away from it. He's almost 2, so I'm just not going to be on him nonstop. Gah. He shattered a glass a few weeks back and by some miracle didn't get cut - there were shards everywhere! I had to slowly tiptoe in the kitchen and calmly pick him up and walk away... I knew if I freaked that he'd freak and then he'd step in it. The dang glass wasn't even close to the edge of the counter - but he will swipe his arms across the countertops to see what he can find! He will definitely be our first trip to the ER, I already know it. He just has no fear!

Amanda - your cats are adorable all snuggling together! Love it. My cats were locked upstairs in the rental and have free reign now in our house and they love it. They sit with me nightly, it's nice.

Lauren - Aw year two of Pre school! And I can't believe Benjamin is almost 2. Crazy. Time Flies!

We are ready for pre-k. Evan is actually in a multi age classroom Prek-1st grade. Only 8 kids with 2 teachers. I think it will be great for him. I'm SUPER excited. Rory is in their 2's and 3's room. Both boys are REALLY excited to start Monday. We had a little dinner at school and then their teachers came out to our house to meet them in their home. It was great. Evan's teacher has a daughter in Rory's class. Evan had his first soccer practice today which meant coach Daddy coached his first soccer practice today. 7 kids under 6. It went pretty well. One little girl just wasn't in to it but that's ok and Steve found each drill has to move REALLY fast. But all in all it seemed fine. One little boy has been playing for 2 years in another league (the local league U6 is the first level) so he's pretty far ahead of the other kids, and he appears to just be a pretty darn athletic little boy too. But the parents all seemed nice. One mom is due in 2 weeks so we were both lamenting the heat in our very pregnant states and another mom has a 2 year old who was playing with Rory. Now my goal is to FINALLY get pictures hung in the house. They have been sitting out since we moved and I want them UP!

Amanda- your kitties are so cute! Yay for Natalie learning to tie her shoes! My kids don't know how. I've never really tried to teach them. For tie up shoes, you can always just put in 1/4" seeing elastic instead of laces and you get instant slip on shoes.

Lauren- Benjamin sounds like a handful! Oliver is a lot like that. He turned two and I started counting down to age three. Now he's coming up on three and a half and I'm still waiting for him to get easier.

Katie- happy 36 weeks! Any chance of a photo?

AFM: unpacking, getting the kids ready for school, planning my sister's baby shower... and Arthur is crawling everywhere and almost pulling up. crazy. The baby shower is on Arthur's birthday. I might ask if she's okay with me bringing him. I don't want to be away all day on his first birthday.

I've decided my most annoying fertile symptom is baby fever. Right now #5 sounds like such a good idea, the timing seems perfect (ha!), and so on. In a few days it will sound insane again.

I have no belly pictures! I should take at least one. I feel like this pregnancy has been so far and so easy. I am just really starting to feel uncomfortable, hop pain which was terrible all through with Rory has been minimal. Sleeping really just started to get bad. Pregnancies like this make me think I could do it again lol. I did have some cramping and a little pinkish kind of plug discharge today. I have simply assumed he would be late because both boys were. I have been taking some oral evening primrose to try and avoid the nine days late thing but today made me realize I should probably take some time this weekend and get things ready just to be safe. We have a car seat but not an infant seat....the convertible would work but I should just go get an infant seat so we are ready.

In other news I was rear ended on the way to my midwife appointment. The airbags didn't deploy and I felt fine, even did a nst to be sure and all was well but it is a hassle. Luckily the boys were not with me and I had the bigger highlander. Tomorrow it goes in to get an estimate. Of course the guy who hit me was illegally driving uninsured. My insurance covers it but seriously.....pita.

The boys started their new school and I am thrilled. Evan already loves it and so does Rory. I feel so good about the choice, now we just need to be sure to get a great nanny and all will be well!

If you're having pinkish discharge I would definitely spend some time getting ready It's said baby usually comes fast after that happens. It seems like the littlest things can affect when baby comes. I never thought I'd go late with Arthur, but I think being on pelvic rest until 38w had a lot to do with it. Taking EPO could probably get things going earlier. But... I had pinkish plug spotting around 36-37w with Alex and he didn't come until a couple days before his EDD. I hope you get another week or so, but that baby doesn't take his time like the others. KUP!

I'm glad everything was okay after getting rear-ended. I had that happen at 30w with Oliver on the way home from the MW. I was told take a hot bath and drink a glass of wine and call if there's any cramping or spotting. I skipped the wine (I hate it).

Nothing exciting today, no spotting or anything. I've had some random contractions but nothing laborish just body practicing I think, totally non painful. I'm looking so forward to an infant around again Smile I want baby snuggles!
