HCG experiment (m/c ment, test pics, science ment)
may I indulge in a bit of nerdiness? I'm 3 days out and annoyed with my HPTs because they won't show any change until my levels get really low and I don't have my HCG draw until Thursday. It's driving me nuts not knowing if they're falling. based on what I've been told, they should be approximately 1/4 of what they were before the d&c (down to about 25,000 from 105,000, given an HCG half life of 33 hours).
So, I had the brilliant idea while waking up this morning to dilute and test. Cue the latent science nerd. I decided to do a 1/10 (0.5ml urine in 4.5ml water), 1/100 (0.5ml urine in 49.5ml water), and 1/1000 (0.5ml urine in ~500ml water). I figured that if my level has dropped to 25,000 then the 1/1000 test should give me a just positive since they're supposed to test positive at a level of 25 or less. I was also curious at what dilution I'd start seeing a difference from my test the last few mornings.
So... Here are the results

Looks like they're falling at about the right rate! If they keep following the half life curve (if nothing is still producing HCG) then they should get below 5 around 3 weeks after the procedure, or Sept 6th. I'd love to have them back down within a month, so this is going well so far.
And the 1/10 dilution (approx 2,500 HCG) looks just like my test from the morning after the procedure, so I guess if I want to see any progress I'll have to keep diluting for a while.
okay, nerdiness done... for now.
