Poor Cal Mary and poor you and DH that's a crazy few days! As I watch Rory climb a chair....you just can't stop them! And so sad on your coworker. I had a coworker wind up addicted to pain meds after a surgery she landed on meth in the end losing her home and children it was horrifying to see her on the news (she robbed her neighbor). She looked NOTHING like the woman I worked with who was a sassy admin who you could always count on to do things right. Totally depressed me b/c I knew how much she loved her girls.

Ashley - it has been so cold here too!

Virginia - GL catching that egg!!

Jen - definitely no googling medication stuff (not that I don't do it!). I think I recall you having some odd cycles after Owen didn't you? Long and potentially annov maybe? Or am I making that up?

Sigh I had a good interview for the job but it's way less a year less than my current job (before considering bonuses which would widen the gap), that's not going to work. SOoooo no go on the job and I'm thankful I asked prior to any intensive interviews. I mean I had a feeling it wasn't going to be at my range but it still stinks a bit!

The doctor said he prefers the splint thing over a hard cast if possible.... He said they have more problems with poor circulation and infection from the surgery when they use the hard cast. This thing he has on is actually still a pretty hard/tight wrap. Just to look at it, it looks like nothing more than an ace bandage, but there's something hard and thick underneath it, and it stays put quite well.

To add to my run of terrible news... First the 7th grade boy who committed suicide, then Calvin's elbow, then my coworker's addiction, now this... The girl who used to do my hair when I lived with my parents, she still does my mom's hair. She was pregnant and due within a few weeks of me. Well, she recently lost her baby at 22 weeks. The baby had some sort of genetic disorder that caused its head to be much larger than it should have been, in proportion to the body, and its brain wasn't formed properly. Had she carried the baby to term, she would have needed brain surgery and still would not have lived long. She labored for FOUR DAYS to deliver her baby, never got to see/hold her. So depressing. I hope this is it for my bad news for a while.

As for my former coworker, I guess he's talking a little bit to one of my former technicians who was an addict/alcoholic and has been clean for about 6.5 years. She contacted him and told him if he wants to talk to her about addiction, she's there for him. He told her he's really scared and is looking into treatment in Cleveland. So sad. Ugh. You just HATE hearing this about any fellow coworker, but especially someone with such a huge heart. Blah.

That is all way too much bad news. But since we're sharing the daughter of my neighbor growing up was diagnosed with leukemia. She's 3 and totally adorable and looks like the picture of toddler health. She just started chemo and they have a facebook group for her with updates that her grandfather added me to. I grew up next door to her mom but she was 5 years older than I was, her brother was my age though and we went to school straight through together. Their mom still lives next to mine. SIgh. It's so sad she just started chemo and had to cut her hair b/c she'll lose it. Then another neighbor of my mom was just diagnosed with lymphoma. Apparently it is a very treatable kind with a very high survival rate but I practically lived at his house growing up with his 2 daughters. My sister and I and their two girls spent many summers in elementary school together. He is a wonderful man. My mom walks daily with his wife and they are all just very sad he's sick at all and needs chemo. Soooo that's my depressing news. I'll take my displeasure with my job over sick kids and parents.

Jeesh - Way too much bad news around here at the moment. I'll take a happy toddler with a broken arm over any of this other news, sadly enough.

Really late here, had company till 9:30 pm then read and got cleaned up, now waiting for DH to come to bed.

Just wanted to say Nat had a great Birthday Friday, we picked her up at school took her to Boston Pizza for dinner and then went to Dana's hockey game which she really liked. For gifts we got her some educational cards (at kindergarten level), Little Mermaid Barbie like dolls for the bath, and a few Disney Brave themed things a Merida doll, a bow and arrows, a dress and a book.

Very busy day today, went to a party for Nat's friend from school, it was at an indoor playground she really enjoyed herself there. Then we had a small party for my nephew A and Natalie, it went pretty well everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Amanda - Sounds like a great weekend so far. I hope today is also good for you.

AFM - I'm working all weekend. The IL's came to visit DH and help with the kids yesterday and my parents are coming today. DH just felt like he needed some help to keep Calvin from further injuring himself while I'm not here to help. He just refuses to accept any physical limitations, but then wakes up in pain overnight because he's probably overdoing it. He will take his meds pretty well mixed in juice, thankfully. You can tell right when it starts to kick in because he'll stop crying and go back to sleep. I hope the pain starts to subside soon...

Mary - so sorry about Calvin! I hope he heals quickly and you guys can get a break. Too sad about your co-worker. It's too bad he couldnt keep his job if he agreed to go through treatment or something, but I'm guessing they have a zero tolerance rule when it comes to stealing...

Katie - I miss reading! I finished my last book right when Benjamin was born and it'll be awhile before I start another. Probably not until I can transition him to a crib in his own room, which requires me to a) set up his crib, and b) get him out of my bed. Something tells me it'll be a long time! He's a lot like Rory was...

Amanda - glad Natalie had a good birthday.

Jen - I'm sure the spotting is just from PP hormones. Those first cycles are crazy.

Virginia - sorry about the colds.

Ash - I'm not looking forward to preschool routines. It can be so hard to get out of the house on a schedule!

AFM - things are good here. Benjamin is my little mommas boy. Haha. It's kind of nice, but overwhelming at times. I'm either holding him or nursing him almost all the time, which is tricky now that DH is back at work and I need to do stuff with Xander. I'm able to get a lot done by putting him in the Moby wrap, but I'm also trying to get him used to going in his bouncy seat or PnP more. That usually results in crying, but he's Slowly tolerating more and more... Why couldn't I have gotten an easy baby? Heh.

I have more to type, but Xander is demanding my attention.

Lauren - I know that well! I'm still so thankful for a full night's sleep with no baby in the bed Rory is upstairs napping now - that really only got reliable recently I think he napped in my arms until he was 11 months old. Hopefully Benjamin gets with the program

Mary - I can see why DH would want some help, it has to be hard! Poor Calvin!

Amanda - yay for a good birthday! I can't believe how old she's getting!

AFM - Well AF is officially late.....we were not at all risky this month. Not even a little. But I have 29-31 day cycles typically and today is 33. I broke down and bought tests today and took one this afternoon that was a total BFN. I'll take one with FMU tomorrow if AF hasn't arrived. It FEELS like she's coming but now I'm so over analyzing it that I can't decide what I feel. This would not be a well timed pregnancy I'd be due 1-2 weeks after my sister's wedding in which I'm matron of honor. Lovely. And really I can't imagine when we'd have DTD to get knocked up we did it unprotected a couple days after AF ended then used production until last week which was like CD 27. Super sperm? Faulty condom? Wacky body? I'd say I'm not typically late and I don't think I am but I really haven't had that many non-BC, non preg, non heavy nursing AFs so maybe occasional long cycles are normal for me...

Katie: GL Hopefully just a wonky AF.

Lauren: sorry Benjamin is clingy. I know what you mean about it being nice, but not. My DD was like that (luckily I only had her to deal with though). I wore her a lot too, otherwise nothing would get done.

Mary: poor Calvin, hope the painful period is over soon. My FIL broke his wrist 2 winters ago and said a few days after surgery was the worst. Sorry to hear about all the negative news and whatnot...hope things turn up!

Amanda: indoor playground?! I need to find one of those (besides McDonalds..ick)

Hey everyone else! Sorry I have .5 seconds to type because I need to go dry my hair before Dane wakes up from nap (he went down later than normal today). It's snowing here again which is fine because it clears our nasty smog air, but I'm so ready for spring! I'll be the first to admit I've let my kids watch way too much TV this winter because it's too dang cold to go outside and do anything...I'm itching for park season & going to the zoo. Brekke starts swimming lessons tomorrow - super excited!
