January Chat Thread!

Happy New Year!!

Hope you all have had good holidays. As for us, we're SUPER close to having a walker!! Cal is taking some steps here and there, and has perfected his ability to squat down from standing, pick up a toy from the floor, then stand back up. He can now stand up in the middle of the floor without needing furniture to pull up. I'm just waiting for him to learn how to connect more than a step or two at a time. I think it's merely a matter of days! Smile

Happy New Year! And Happy First Birthday, Claire!

Good luck with the walking, Mary.

AFM: TMI no O yet, I think. I felt super fertile yesterday but hadn't had a + OPK since early Thurs. It'll be soon. I'm being careful. I'm also looking forward to having my body back to normal.

ETA: here's a chart link (if anyone feels stalking deprived)

My ovaries hurt like the blazes, so it wouldn't surprise me if I got another +OPK in the next few days.

Virginia - Yay (or boo?) for no O yet, hahaha... Just waiting on your oops!

AFM - I'm bored with the non-winter weather here. We might see an inch or so of snow here today, and that's our first snow here all year. My DH got a snowblower for Christmas and I want to see how it works, haha. I have a friend who lives in a little pocket of the state up by Cleveland that gets the crazy lake effect snow and they're supposed to be getting 2 feet right now. He's always trying to sell me his house since I always complain about wanting to move. Hah.. NO thanks!

hope you get some good snow, Mary! I'm still enjoying a break from snow after last winter!

AFM: OPK super close to + this morning. Definitely being careful. I'd like to put off an oops for a bit longer.

Happy New Year Smile Quiet NYE here Smile DH and I realized we haven't gone out and done something for NYE since the very first year we met 2004 ringing in 2005. Apparently we settled in to being lame old people really quickly (and happily). I enjoyed a glass of wine - my first since last Feb and we watched the ball drop and went to bed. Rory gets me up 3 or so times a night so just making it to 12 was a waste of good sleep haha

No snow here but I'm fine with that. We are due for a few inches and we have family in a lake effect region that are supposed to get slammed. but by this point last year they had had 3-4 ft already. This year they haven't had 1 ft total. I'll take it though. I'm not a winter person.

I'm officially 30 now. I thought I might care but really I'm pretty indifferent. I think my 30s may be better than my 20s and between college, marriage, and 2 kids my 20s were pretty fantastic. As my mother says "It's better than the alternative" LOL

Mary - You can have our snow, supposed to get 1 foot by tomorrow morning, I'd rather be in Florida enjoying warm weather instead.

Way to go Cal! I'm sure he'll be walking in no time.

Virginia - Hope you can hold out on that oops until things are a little less crazy.

Katie - Happy Birthday! :cake: 30 really didn't feel much different to me.

*AFM*

AF decided to show on the 31st, guess my new years gift from my body...

Anyway she didn't stop me from having fun, the girls went out with Nana, DH and I went to Dinner at the best pizza place in town called Pie, then we went to Williams (a coffee house) and had some drinks, went to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, then came home and watched Rise of Planet of the Apes, by the time it was over it was past midnight so we wished each other a happy new year, then talked to the girls on the phone and wished them a happy new year. (wow run-on sentence, LOL).

Yesterday we went to my aunt's house for New Years day celebrations, she does it every year and it's always a good time.

Today I was really lazy didn't really do much, tomorrow it's back to work.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Katie - Happy Birthday! Thanks for sharing to pic of Rory. They look pretty similar! Oh, and I had to check... Raymond was 12lbs 3.5oz and 22.5" at 1m (I don't have stats for my others, but Alex was heavier, Oliver lighter). Yeah, 13lbs is a big boy! wow.

Amanda - glad you had a good new year's!

AFM: my body wimped out. oh well. I'd like to start cycling because if I know when I'm actually fertile it makes it easier to take preventing seriously. But... if I'm not fertile I can't accidentally get pregnant, so that's good, too.
I'm not sure what happened, but DH has gotten more relaxed about preventing, has made references to when we have an accidental baby, and even told me he's surprised how manageable it is having 3 little boys. Uh oh. If he starts asking for another I'm not sure if I can hold out.

Whoops posted this in Dec accidentally - thanks Virginia for catching that!

Hope everyone had a good NY!

Just throwing out a pic compare of the boys! As you can see Rory is a BIG boy LOL I thought Evan was big at a month! I don't think I've posted any pics of Rory but really only Virginia isn't on FB Wink The rest of you can see him there where I'm more reliable about posting pics for my family

Happy New Year y'all!!

Katie, adorable pic. I love the comparison. I remember staying up til midnight on NYE when Xander was just a few months old and thinking the same thing in the morning - waste of sleep. lol. Happy 30th!

Sandra, hi! hope to hear more from you soon.

Amanda, sounds like you had a great night! I haven't been to a movie in a loooong time. One of the few times I wish we lived closer to family so we'd have a babysitter.

Virginia, I can't believe you're DH is on board! It took him a lot longer after the others, right?

Mary, WTG Cal!!

AFM, not much going on here. Slowly starting to take ornaments off the tree. Ugh, I just don't waaaaaaaaanna! It's much more fun to put Christmas stuff up.

I finally go in for my PET Scan on Monday. It's done by some special company that visits the hospital once a week (they bring all the equipment with them), so that's why it's taken forever to get me in. I hope this is the last thing I need to have done, I'm just so over all of the poking and prodding and x-rays and BAH!

Anyhoo! So who else put on a few pounds over the holidays? I definitely gained my 4-5, but I think I'll have 'em off pretty quick now that I'm back to clean eating and regular exercise. Totally worth it - I ate some good stuff! haha.

Sandra - It's great to hear from you! I was just wondering how you were doing. Smile

Lauren - good luck with your PET scan. I hope it goes well. I hope the holiday weight come off easily, too.

Oh, DH isn't "on board". We haven't had much luck finding a "perfect" form of BC and so he's kind of accepting an eventual oops. We're using spermicide and, honestly, I'll be surprised if we make it a year of regular cycles without conceiving in spite of it. The failure rate is around 20% and we're definitely on the fertile end of the spectrum. I'd like to at least make it to summer before having an oops. I like the idea of a "surprise" baby, but not just yet. Lol

Yay I can finally jump in! And hopefully keep up. Wink

Katie - Hope you had a great birthday! I can't believe you stayed up to watch the ball drop, seeing as you have a newborn still demanding your attention during the night. Wink Even *I* didn't stay up! Okay, well, DH woke me up at 11:58. Wink

Amanda - Boo for AF, but glad you had a great time with the girls!

Sandra - Hi!

Mary - I know, winter has been sooooo warm so far! Everyone keeps saying January and February are supposed to be "bitter and snowy", so we'll see. So far it's been true here! It was seriously so cold today, I wanted to cry just putting the groceries into the car! We got some snow, but it was just an inch or so. I'm ready for more!

Virginia - I'm sure there will be an oops before summer. Wink I personally think you're insane!! Lol

Lauren - Good luck with the PET scan on Monday! Keep us posted! We'll all be thinking of you, I'm sure. And yeah, I'm sure I gained some weight over the holidays! I haven't been on the scale since before Christmas, so I'm not actually sure. As of the last time I was on, I'd only put on 1 lb. of the 3 I'd lost during the first tri! So that was good. No official "gain" yet, but I'm sure Christmas and everything shot that to crap. Wink

AFM - Not a whole lot going on here! Now with all the holiday stuff out of the way, we have some time to breathe! But now I'm excited to start planning Owen's birthday party next month! I can't believe he's going to be two already! It's insane. Time really does fly!

I've been feeling the baby for the last few weeks, so that is totally cool! It's nothing more than a random poke once or twice a day, but it's nice to feel! Saturday night, after a piece of ice cream cake, it freaked out for a good 15 seconds, so that was awesome. Wink Of course, it's been quiet the last two days, which always freaks me out. Even though logically I know it's still so small, moving half an inch can make it impossible to feel. I felt one little jab at lunch, so that was nice. But I can't wait to get to the point that I'm feeling strong movement all the time!

Jen - Woohoo for feeling the baby! That's the part I always miss the most about being pregnant. I loooove the movement! (except hiccups... for some reason, I always found them painful. they're still really sweet, though)

Lauren - Glad you're getting your PET scan soon. I wish I would've gained 4-5lb over the holidays, haha. We had to do stupid health testing for our insurance this year for a discount on our deductible, and I came up underweight.

Virginia - My DH wants an oops, haha. Maybe not RIGHT NOW (although I told him the other day I forgot to take my pill the day before, and he still tried to molest me... luckily the kids woke up, hahaha... I am NOT ready for an oops).

Sandra - Welcome back! How's everything going??

Katie - Love the pics! Rory has more hair! I see some similarities, but some differences too.

Katie - Both your boys are big compared to my girls at that age. Rory looks like he's a bit more physically developed too.

Sandra - Hi, hope to hear from you more.

Lauren - Hope your scan goes well. I've struggled to put on weight since the Dystonia started, so the holidays really didn't do anything to me except help me maintain.

Jen - Yay for baby movement, can't believe you are at that point already.

Mary - On birth control I missed pills plenty, not once in 9 years did I get pregnant. Yet if I go off them and DTD instant-preggo.

*AFM*

Virginia - I'm sure you'll have an oops if you don't convince DH to have an intentional first:) Me on the other hand I think I may go the BCP route in a bit - I'm totally on the fence about a 3rd at this point and definitely don't want one right away

Sandra - good to "see" you! How's Andrew?

Jen - yay for movements! SO fun! I'm trying to get my body back. Sigh 25 lbs to lose uugghhhh

Mary - I've got plenty of weight for you right now Wink

Amanda - fast non-stressful days are the best work ones!

I've been able to get things done around the house today. I feel very productive but I've really only accomplished the "normal" chores. But compared to what I've been able to get done since Rory came home it's a step in the right direction! We finally got around to getting a new fridge yesterday. We had a mini fridge and the basement freezer so we were just going along and frankly being lazy LOL It arrives Tuesday and is basically identical to what we have - how exciting can a fridge really be?

Mary - DH always force-feeds me when we have some sort of health thing coming up which requires BMI. You better stay on top of those pills if your DH is that sure he's ready for more! Lol

Jen - yay for movement! Do you have your big u/s scheduled or will baby be a surprise?

Katie - I'm glad you're sort of getting back to routine. How's Rory doing?

AFM: I have some work to do for family so I might not be on much for a bit (not paid, just family obligation stuff). Also, Oliver
is pulling up and trying to cruise. Mostly he falls down and bonks his head. He had his first hair cut, too. I'll try to post pics evenutally.

Hi everyone! I haven't been on the computer much the last few days... Work and the boys are keeping me busy, I guess. That, and trying to get this house in some sort of order after the holidays.

Laura - I can't believe you've past the halfway point in your pregnancy already!! Holy moly!!

Virginia - Can't wait to see haircut pics! Hahaha... I can't imagine one of my babies ever needing a haircut that young. My kids stay bald for SOOOO long. Wink

Katie - Woohoo for a new fridge! LOL.

AFM - We're trying to work out a little vacation this summer. My mom mentioned in an email last night that they're going on a beach camping trip with my uncle/aunt and their kids in June, to a beach in SC. It so happens to fall on the week that I'm on vacation. But unfortunately, they are leaving over the weekend, and I work that weekend. So I'm trying to switch a weekend with my partner that I work with, but unfortunately, the weekend he wants me to work happens to be Sean's birthday. I REALLY don't want to work my kids' birthdays, so I'm not thinking I'll do it, but I really want to go and take the kids on a little trip this summer.

ETA: Bah, n/m... I think DH is too skittish about taking the boys on that long of a drive. So we'll probably just stick around here for my week off. Not quite as fun, but whatever. It's a lot of work taking one baby on a beach vacation as we learned with Sean... Probably much the same, and worse, with two...

I had a dream last night that I gave birth at home, unassisted... To triplets! LOL. In the dream, I easily could've made it to the hospital, 5-10 minutes down the road, but I lied and said they were coming too quickly because I knew my OB wasn't going to let me attempt to deliver them vaginally. The first two were born about an hour apart and the third was born about 45 minutes after the second. I don't know the genders, but they were all nice and big, hahaha...

I'll post personals later this afternoon, but i've gotta say, not pleased this morning with 4.5 hours of sleep. Andrew apparently had other plans other then sleeping.

Virginia - Rory is good - a very different baby than Evan but we're finding what works for him. GL with the cruising kid! I feel like he's moving a lot earlier than Alex did

Laura - 1/2 way SO exciting and Happy Birthday to my BDAY buddy Claire! NY baby rocks:) Actually she'll find in time her friends are all too hung over to celebrate but there's always a party the night before Smile

Mary - Triplets at home eh? LOL Triplets at all makes my head spin. 1 at a time for me!

Sandra - I heart coffee. Mmm necessary for functioning!

So I started getting set on losing the baby weight and getting back in shape and I was feeling a little self pity about how woefully out of shape I am. So I fired up my old lap top and dug out my weight tracking sheet from PP with Evan to see how far off I was this time (thinking I weighed a lot more now than I did with Evan). It's FREAKISHLY identical. Like 5 weeks PP with Evan I was .4 pounds more than I am with Rory and the progression from delivery to 5 weeks week by week is never off by more than about a 1/2 pound. Apparently this is how my body operates. I got to Pre Preg weight with Evan around 15 weeks PP so hopefully I can hit that again. I just found it insane that it's EXACTLY the same to this point.

Our fridge is being delivered as I type and Rory is in the swing behaving. He seems to be liking the swing more and more which is a relief b/c napping every nap in my arms was getting difficult. It will be nice to have a full fridge again! We've been making due with a mini fridge and that was getting OLD!

Off to get my second cup of coffee and wait for the fridge delivery guys to leave Smile

Mary - funny dream. Lol

Katie - yay for a fridge!

Sandra - I hope you get more sleep tonight.

Laura - yay for halfway! It's hard to believe I was there just a year ago!

AFM: just hanging out. I just splurged on some more Mommy Necklaces. I one when they were on Baby Steals or Baby Half Off (I forget which) and have been kicking myself ever since for not buying every style they had. If I ever see them there again I am so stocking up. But at least now I'll have more variety. I found myself skipping clothes which wouldn't match my necklace. Lol

Laura, woah! Over halfway there already?! And Happy Birthday to Claire!

Katie, horray for a new fridge!! I get overly excited about my kitchen appliances, hee hee. I was so bitter at you for getting to your PP weight so quickly last time, heh - I couldn't lose any weight while bf'ing and it suuuucked. I weaned at 18 months and WOOOOOSH it was gone in less than a month! lol. Guess we're just all different. Hope you get back to your skinny minny self just as quickly this time!

Sandra, ooh running out of coffee is the worst!

Virginia, gl w/ your family work stuff.

Mary, triplets, eh? No thank you. hahaha.

AFM, well my insurance and doctors office made a huge mess of everything and they've had to postpone my pet scan til this next monday instead of yesterday. Thanks guys, I'd love to wait another week. Booo! So I'm just trying not to think about it. Oh, and I guess I'm out for this month because I'm about to O (or possibly did early, more on that in a sec), so obviously I will have O'd before I even have this scan done. Oh well, another month to get the holiday weight off! Did Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones dvd just now and it about killed me! I don't know if I should love or hate that woman.

So you know how I suspected I might have a cyst in my uterus or something like that? Well I'm pretty sure I did/do because I think it popped last night. I was woken up at 3 am and almost started screaming, it hurt SO bad! It didn't feel like ovulation and it felt like my uterus, not ovaries... I laid in bed for an hour and it just killed. I finally fell back asleep and today it's just throbbing. Not horribly and it's getting better. So maybe I did ovulate early (cd 12/13), but I doubt it. I feel like I'm getting more fertile, not less... Time will tell. So yeah, that was fun. heh.

Xander's doing well. It's been freakishly warm here, so we've spent a ton of time outside playing. Lots of fun!

Lauren - Sorry about the delay in the scan, and about the weird uterus pain/maybe-cyst. I hope that was an isolated thing... Sounds miserable.

Virginia - Yay for more necklaces... I've always thought about getting a couple when they were on babysteals, but never have done it.

Katie - Woohoo for similar weight loss pattern... I have had a pretty similar experience both times too. I gained 40 or so lbs each time, then lost a lot of it quickly, but then stalled for a couple months, then dropped the rest quickly after stalling (coincidentally, that was around the time I returned to work both times...).. Actually, I doubt it's a coincidence. I don't get a lunch break, I rarely get up early enough for breakfast, and I run for 8 hours like a chicken with my head cut off, hahaha.

Sandra - Sorry about the poor sleep. I feel your pain. Cal still eats a lot overnight (so weird, I swear Sean stopped eating overnight at 8 weeks! He was fat though, so maybe that helped?)... So anyway, my sleep still sucks for the most part.

AFM - Calvin goes tomorrow for his 2nd flu shot. None for Sean this year because of the egg allergies. The IL's got me and DH gift cards to the outlet mall we like to visit, so we were going to go there tomorrow, but I forgot about that appointment. I'm off work for 5 days, so I think we're going to go shopping with our gift cards on Thursday instead. His parents are visiting Friday and mine will visit Sunday. Not sure about Saturday, but I'm hoping to find something fun to do other than just sitting around.

Lauren - Boo! I can't believe they're making you wait another week!

Katie - glad the weight is coming off easily. It's taken me a little longer every time. I plateau then it suddenly drops. With Raymond it was at 4m PP, with Alex at 6m PP, and I'm still waiting at 8.5m PP. But, it's okay because I normally run underweight and I'm currently barely at a normal weight.

Mary - you should definitely get some of the necklaces. They kids love them and I actually get compliments every time I wear one out of the house.

Laura - Happy Birthday to Claire! Congrats on the 1/2 way point.

Mary - What a crazy dream, and triplets being birthed that far apart . DH is a twin and they are only 3 minutes between them, born naturally. Hope Cal's flu shot goes well and you don't get a cranky baby. Have fun spending your gift cards.

Katie - Yay for the fridge delivery and being on the same weightloss track as with Evan! Glad to hear Rory is taking to the swing, Nat loved the swing when she was little, it does make things soooo much easier.

Virginia - Those necklaces look like a great idea, Natalie like to pinch when feeding, even when I used a bottle, a baby proof necklace would have been nice for her to fidgit with.

Lauren - Sorry to hear about all the complications with insurance/doctors, that can be such a pain! Hopefully everything is in order for your appointment, and TTC after that.

*AFM*

I've been keeping busy at work and home, nothings stressful just lots to do. Yesterday my Aunt came up and we went to get a replacement kitchen for Natalie (the first one I returned to TRU cause the noise it made scared her). Anyway she loves the replacement we got, bought it at Ikea and it fits nicely in our kitchen so she can play cook while I make dinner.

A few days ago I put Dana's old Barbies in Natalie's toy bins. Some are Disney Princess themed and Natalie is in love with The Beast (from Beauty and the Beast), wanted to bring him to bed last night, I told her she could sit him on the toy chest beside her bed (I don't like hard toys in bed). Anyway he sat there all night and was dragged around everywhere before we left the house to bring her to school.

Dana had her first hockey game of the new year last night, she apparently played pretty good (according to DH, the game was late so I was home with Natalie). Her team tied the game so she was pretty happy with that. Dana has a tournament this weekend it's not far away, just 45 minutes north of us, it just leaves us with a busy weekend.

Friday I have Botox for my Dystonia, though I do like the benefits and I do want to talk to the doctor, I'm really not looking forward to the injections this time, so sick and tired of getting needles every 3 months. I've rearranged Natalie's school care so I can be at work 3 days this week since I will be off Friday for the injections.

Ugh.. I ended up very, very sick last night. lots of vomiting for hours. Finally went to the ER around 12:30am because I couldn't hold down even a small sip of water and I was starting to get really dizzy and dehydrated. Didn't get out of there until 6:30am. It took me 3 hours to even get into a room. I was sitting in the waiting room vomiting into a bag. Yeah.. awesome. I was getting pissed because a lot of the people in the waiting room were just laughing and having a good time like it was some sort of damn party. Of course my job leaves me a little jaded to that, so I was convinced that they were all just a bunch of narcotic-seekers, abusing the medicaid that I pay for with my tax money. Cynical? Yep. But I was pissed to be left sitting there for hours, sooo weak and vomiting, while they all got to go back before me. Grrr.

We got home around 6:30 or 7am and I went straight to bed, where I've stayed all day. DH has been great and has stayed downstairs with the kids all day. In crappy news, I'm pretty much done pumping after this. I tried really hard.. I pumped amidst the vomiting last night, pump on one side of me, trash can on the other. I didn't even move from the spot on the floor where I did most of the puking. But today, I have already missed my morning and mid-day pump sessions and I don't even feel full. I'm too weak and exhausted to care now. We made it to 10.5 months and I still have lots of frozen milk. Ugh, not feeling great again.. Back to sleep.

Mary - That's miserable! Were your boys and DH with you that entire time? Ugh I HATE stomach bugs. I hope you're feeling better today. Pumping 10.5 months is amazing!

Virginia - yay for a few extra necklaces!

Amanda - I bet those shots are hard to handle Sad I hope you can figure something out

Lauren - Sorry insurance is being a PITA! Ugh! And I hope you're cyst etc is feeling better

AFM - we finally got some snow! I may suit up Evan (and bundle up Rory) and have him go out and play in it. Maybe I can tire him out for his nap. We've been having a terrible time wiht him fighting his nap. And he's NOT ready to drop it not even close. Of course daycare has commented on how EASILY he goes down. Argh! He's better behaved for them! Figures! LOL

Mary - I really hope you feel better soon, it's awful that people would laugh at your miseary.

Katie - Have fun in the snow, my girls didn't really nap past 2 years unless they were really worn out, hope the fresh air wears Evan out so you can get a little break.

*AFM*

Just working today, my day didn't start great though I got to the office and realized I forgot my breakfast and lunch, thankfully it got sorted out quick, my mom has some oats in the kitchen so I made oatmeal, and I called her and asked if she could bring me some thing to eat on her way in, so we are getting subs for lunch. Yahoo

DH & I have trouble on both sides of the family right now. My grandpa is rapidly degrading mentally, and not wanting help cause he thinks he's fine. On DH's side his mom is trying to get us to let her park her truck in our driveway (her rental lease for her town home has parking for one vehicle and she has two), but I know if you give that woman an inch she'll take a mile and then our house will be flooded with her crap, I really hope that DH said no to her cause if I see that truck in the driveway I will get it impounded.

Crap, just posted a big response, but clicked the wrong button to post it. I'm still not used to this new set-up yet. Anyway, the people in the ER weren't laughing at ME... They were just sitting around in their little groups, supposedly ill or injured, and they were all (literally ALL of them) were just laughing and talking and having a good time. Like you could tell they didn't need to be in an emergency room. Stupid, stupid. I was so irritated because I was sitting there actively throwing up, watching all of the non-sick people go before me. Whoever was working triage should be fired.

I hope your DH doesn't let him mom move all of her crap into your house... So annoying! I'm still annoyed that my IL's keep bringing us this ugly old window unit AC every summer. We have central cooling in our house. We don't need this ugly annoying AC. We don't use it and send it back to them and they keep bringing it back. WTF

I'm just one to toss unwanted stuff so she'd come back and all her crap would be gone, that would include the truck, i'd impound it or sell it.

Mary, sorry you were (are?) so sick! Hope you're feeling better now.

Amanda, what a load of cr@p. I'd be furious if anyone, family or not, tried to store a TRUCK at my house! lol Good luck handling that.

Um, my brain just emptied and I can't remember if anyone else posted since I last did. Hmmmm...

Anyhoo, okay, so insurance FINALLY approved this scan again and I go in on Monday morning. The lady gave me a novel of instructions for beforehand, so that was fun. Oh, and I'm n ot allowed to touch my own child for at least 6 hours after the scan (and preferably more) because I'm being injected with nuclear radiation! WHAT!? I do not like the idea of that! Is that going to have any effect on my eggs and stuff? Like am I going to need to wait longer to TTC? Ugh, research time... Anyway, I'm glad it's finally scheduled and this will all be behind me in a few days. Hopefully, anyway.

So we got dumped on with snow for the first time this season and I took Xander out to play earlier. He just wanted to push his little sled around. lol. We're meeting his "girlfriend" and her mom this afternoon to play outside as well. He's just so cute in his little snow pants and boots! Awwwww....

Mary - hope you're feeling better. When I took Oliver to the ER for his hand the woman in front of me checked her (18m?) daughter in with "She's had a cold and I think it's worse." and then proceeded to talk on her cell phone while her daughter ran all over the waiting room. Seriously? Sunday night and you can't wait until morning?

Amanda - GL with MIL

Lauren - I hope your exam goes okay

Virginia - That's EXACTLY what I'm talking about... Ridiculous abuse of the system. I can't tell you how many prescriptions we get from the Children's Hospital ER for ringworm creams. REALLY?!? You've gotta take your kid to the ER for ringworm? Grrrrr...

Lauren - Glad you got to play in some snow. We got a few inches, but with me being sick, we didn't go out to play in it. I realized I never even bought Sean any snow pants or boots this year. Duh! Maybe they still have some out at Target or something? It's crazy how early the swim suits and summer stuff come out anymore.

AFM - Cal is sick now. Sad He's been vomiting since early this afternoon. I'm so sad for him. I know how miserable it felt. I hope his is similar to mine in that it's a few hours of hell, but then it does lighten up. He hasn't even been able to hold down any pedialyte. Sad I hate it when my kids are sick... And I can only assume Sean will be next, with the way he's constantly stealing Calvin's binkie and clobbering Calvin. Blaaaah!

The thing is when people don't have insurance they don't have primary care doctors so sadly they do have to go to the ER for anything and everything. Our system is horribly flawed and difficult to fix Sad

Mary - sorry the stomach bug has spread ugh I am hoping we don't get hit with one this year, we did around this time last year - I only recall exactly b/c I was hoping for an Oct baby and got the sstomach bug right around O time counting us OUT for that LOL

Lauren - we played in the snow a bit - it kind of freaked Evan out but he was starting to enjoy it

Amanda - UGH to MIL!

Rory is officially growing out of 3 month clothing -- pants are ok but sleepers aren't long enough. My friend stopped by with her daughter who is 2 weeks younger than Rory but tiny. She was born around 7 lbs but dropped a good bit and has been a very very slow gainer. OMG Rory looked like a toddler next to her, it was kind of hilarious. Evan has a runny nose and Rory has done nothing but crab, eat and sleep today so I'm betting he's getting a cold too. Fun times!

LOL... I can't believe Rory is growing out of 3-mo clothing already, hahaha. It's weird for me this time, having a 50th percentile baby. I thought baby clothing sizes were totally stupid and skewed with Sean because he always grew out of them ahead of time. Having an average-sized baby, he actually has followed the sizing pretty well (depending on brand.. Gerber stuff is just TINY).

AFM - Cal is feeling a lot better today. He woke up laughing at EVERYTHING this morning and has been playing and acting pretty much normal. He's still been eating only pedialyte, but we'll be transitioning back to BM soon. I'm desperately hoping DH and Sean don't get it...

I forgot to mention this, but the other night when I was vomiting non-stop, I couldn't help but think that 1/11 is just NOT meant to be a good day for me. It was also my EDD for my m/c... Would've been 1 year old. I don't think about it a whole lot now since Cal (thankfully) came along so quickly. But every once in a while, I do let myself remember it...

Jen - Just wondering if you are finding out the gender of your LO and if I had somehow missed the announcement.

*AFM*

Dana had a hockey tournament this weekend, I missed a bunch of it cause the games were early and I didn't want to drag Natalie out of bed to go. I did get to see the final it was an excellent game, Dana played very well, it came down to a shootout in the end and her team took 2nd place, so I am very proud of her it was well earned.

I'm at work today really not focusing right now, should just get to it and get the ball rolling.

Amanda, glad Dana played well! Hope work goes by quickly for you.

Katie, yeah the snow freaked Xander out a TON when we got about an inch back in early Dec. He wouldn't even step on it... I was worried he wouldn't want to play in it, but I think because he's been watching Handy Manny and they played all their snow episodes this last month that he "got it" and had fun. However, that may be over now... We took him to our friends house and their 4 yo tripped and accidentally dumped a huge ball of snow on Xander's face! He FREAKED out (understandably), so hopefully he's not traumatized now. lol.

Mary, glad Cal is feeling better. Sorry to hear that Sean and DH are sick now (you posted on FB). I hope it gets through everyone quickly!

Katie, Wow, already growing out of the 3 mo clothing!!

AFM, got back from my Pet Scan a little bit ago. I'm holed up in my bedroom with my laptop since I cannot be anywhere near Xander. I thought it was just contact, but she said today he should stay away. I guess the radition decreases by half for every 3 feet he's away from me. CRAZY! So my scan went okay, I stayed calm and just got through it. I should have the results by Wednesday and then HOPEFULLY that is that and I can go onto TTC next cycle and all that! *fingers crossed* I'm just so ready to be pregnant again!

This cycle has been CRAZY. Remember how I thought I had a cyst burst? Well it had to have been me ovulating because I had CM the day of and day before that cyst and then it went away after... That was CD12!!! And now I'm spotting! Yesterday was CD 19! I've never had a cycle like this! Lets hope my body gets this all figured out so my next cycle is somewhat normal. lol.

Lauren - Weird short cycle! I had one like that just two cycles before we conceived Sean. Maybe it's good luck? hahah... Wink

Amanda - Glad Natalie's team did well! Smile

AFM - Up to my neck in vomit and diarrhea, ughhh... Sean and DH both started vomiting in the middle of the night. I guess DH started around 1:30am, Sean started around 4:30am. I was glad it hit Sean when it did, so his stomach was pretty empty and he didn't have much to vomit. But he has had some major diarrhea today, yuck! It smells like poison. I guess it probably is poison, haha. I ended up taking another day off work because there is NO WAY my DH was going to be able to handle the kids in this condition. Nothing like having 6 days off work, and dealing with someone's illness literally from the beginning of it to the end of it.

Mary - that is no way to spend time off work Sad At least it has hit everyone and you know you're through it....hope everyone is feeling better quickly!

Amanda - hope the afternoon goes quickly!

AFM - long night. Rory wasn't feeling sleep yesterday or last night. He fought napping most the day cat napping here and there, fought going to bed, was up from 2-3 when I finally just stuck him in bed with us but he still wouldn't settle. I'm hoping it's just a bit of the cold or something. He seems better today, is sleeping now in the swing for longer than I think he slept all together yesterday.

Mary - :bighug: It's so rough when a bug like that goes through the family! I hope everyone feels better soon.

Katie - I hope Rory feels better. Oliver hasn't been sleeping well the past 3 nights either. He wants to play at 3am.

Lauren - weird cycle. I hope the test comes back okay.

:wavehello: hi, everyone else! I've already gone over my allotted wasting time time for this morning, but I wanted to share a few recent pics of Oliver.

first haircut before/after

he's pulling up on everything (this time it was his jumperoo)

first snow! He had a blast crawling around in it, but wouldn't smile for the camera... only when he was looking down at the snow

He has his 9mo appointment coming up soon (wow). He's tall like the others and moving into 18mo clothes, but he's a little slimmer than Raymond and a lot slimmer than Alex. Lol He's such a sweet, smiley, loving little guy. He gives kisses and claps and waves and says Mama and Dada and maybe Hi and tries to say Cat. (Sounds crazy for not yet 9mo, but Alex was like this, too.) I'm being reminded every day why we've ended up with 20mo spacing both times. This age is so much fun!

Katie - I hope Rory gives you some good sleep soon. I thought I was going to die if I didn't get good sleep last night. I had been up since 4:30am with sick DH and Sean, so I was dying of exhaustion.

Virginia - Cute pics! I can't believe he's almost 9 months already. I also can't believe I'm starting plans for Cal's first birthday. Only about 6 weeks to go! It really does not seem possible... Grr, why do they have to grow so fast??

AFM - We're feeling a bit better today. No vomit or diarrhea yet in the house yet today. I had to have changed nearly 20 diarrhea diapers for Sean yesterday, no exaggeration. Just one huge one for Cal (he had his a couple days ago and was mostly better yesterday). Dh was totally wiped out, so he was no help. These boys are a handful to take care of by yourself when they're both healthy, but with one very sick, OMG... It was a rough day. Now, my parents are coming down with it. They must have picked it up on Sunday when they visited. Uggghh...

Virginia - he is so darn cute! What a happy boy!

Mary - I'm glad everyone is on the mend but ugh to all that sickness Sad

Rory is not a happy camper. He was up a bunch last night and finally around 4 DH just got up w/him b/c I was just done. He's crying and cranky and just generally unhappy. Sigh. I'm feeling ready to be done with baby-dom today.....

Virginia - That boy has a crazy amount of hair! The cut looks cute.

Mary - Sorry to hear about the illness hitting your house, hope everyone is back to 100% soon.

Katie - Hope Rory starts sleeping better.

*AFM*

Monday night I was cooking dinner and spilled a good bit of grease on my hand, it hurt really bad Monday night but my fast response in treating it prevented it from getting bad, I woke in the morning feeling much better.

Yesterday I just cleaned up my kitchen while Natalie decided to leave trails of toys everywhere.

Today I'm working so nothing exciting.

I don't know if anyone has been to any of the sites protesting censorship by the US gouvernment, I don't mind the ones with pop-overs like http://icanhascheezburger.com/, but I am annoyed by what http://www.wikipedia.org/ has done when you try and search something, there are other sites following suit. Thankfully it's only for 24 hours but still it's annoying and for the smaller sites doing this they are just going to lose possible repeat readers. I am against government censorship but there are just ways of educating people and I don't think blacking out your own website is the way to go.

Amanda - I actually read an interesting article on Wikipedia and how they had a major vote on how to approach the legislation and what they would do to protest. They only took down their English version but all of it came down for the day. It was impressive the thought that went in to their actions because of how detrimental the legislation would be to their operation. I can see how it would be irritating to you though being a Canadian. I did my part educated myself on the legislation decided I agreed with Wikipedia and e-mailed my congressman and both senators. To give credit where due I probably wouldn't have been as proactive w/o Wikipedia's black out to make me more aware of the magnitude of the pending legislation.

We had a good night last night. Thankfully! I think he's feeling better. His nose is running a bit more today but I wonder if it wasn't plugged up and hurting him maybe? It's so hard when they can't freaking talk! But I was only up twice last night like normal and he isn't screaming all day today! Another cup of coffee in me and I'll be good to go Smile Evan is in a good mood today too. Yay for good moods Smile

I have happy news!

I got a call from my doctor - her nurse actually (which is a GOOD thing since you know it's good news if the nurse calls, lol). Anyhoo, as suspected they think it's the histoplasmosis. They can tell it's inflammation, not cancer (the radiation they injected me with would've "lit up" had it been cancer). SO YAY! Obviously it's not 100% clear that it's histoplasmosis, but they're pretty dang sure and since I have no symptoms they're not worried.

That means I can TTC next cycle! But I may wait an extra month, maybe, because...

In other news, I called the dr last week about Xander's speech. She was out of the office until today, though, which is why I hadn't heard back. I said that he definitely talks a lot more, buuuuut most of his words don't sound right - especially t's, s's, and r's. Which is a big red flag for problems with the tongue or mouth... So she referred us to a speech therapist at the hospital and a speech therapist that will come to our house once a week. I should be getting a call in the next few days to schedule appts. I'm not worried at all that it's anything cognitive, like autism. The kid is smart and follows commands, even quite detailed ones. He knows all his colors and shapes and a lot of letters. He looks me in the eye, etc. etc. etc. It's just the way he talks that is off (Pink is "tink" Grammie is "mammie" park is "****" things like that). So hopefully this won't be a big ordeal. I'm hoping he needs something simple, like getting his tongue clipped, and then a little bit of speech therapy. We shall see, though.

I'm sure this won't be a big deal, but if I go to the initial appt and it is I may hold off TTC for a month just to get Xander going on speech therapy before I go a get preggo (and tired, sick, etc.). I'm sure I'll be TTC next cycle, but I'm not going to force it if I think it'll be better for our family unit to wait a month.

I'm glad everyone and their babies seems to be on the mend! Lots of illness and injuries going on around here lately!

Virginia, love the pics! How cute!

Katie, glad Rory is feeling better. I always feel so bad for the little guys when they get stuffed up since they don't know how to help themselves (and I feel bad for the mommies, too, of course).

Amanda, ouchie on the grease burn! Glad you knew how to handle it!

Lauren - So glad you got good news!! I hope the speech thing turns out to be no big deal.

Amanda - I wasn't around my computer a lot yesterday (more on that in a minute), so I didn't need to use wikipedia. It was probably annoying, but from what I read, I can totally see why they did what they did. I've just browsed a few articles on it, but it sounds waaay too restrictive.

Katie - I'm glad Rory was in a better mood for you. We all need some good sleep around here!

Virginia - I agree... We need more happy news. Should we expect some from you soon? Hahah. Wink

AFM - We ended up taking Sean to the ER yesterday. His doctor was booked and the nurse really thought he should be seen before the urgent care opened for the day, so we took him to Children's hospital. He was vomiting again after no vomiting on Tuesday, and he still had diarrhea, and he was not drinking fluids. He was acting really lethargic... He got up for the morning, vomited, then laid there staring blankly for a long time, then fell back to sleep... Just really not acting well. And he had only had maybe 2 or 3 pee diapers in the last day. Very few pee diapers over the last 2.5 days. When we took him, they actually said he was only mildly dehydrated, so that's good... I just wasn't sure with the lack of pee, it was making me nervous. His blood pressure was a bit low, 105/55. They ended up not having to do IV's... They gave him zofran to stop vomiting and gave him an oral trial of fluids, then would do IV's if he failed that. But he did okay with the fluids once he had the zofran (at home, he vomited after 1 ounce of pedialyte). So they sent us home with some zofran and instructions on hydrating him. He seems a lot better today, so I hope it sticks this time!!
