Katie: I dated a guy named Rory in HS and always liked his name a lot. I've heard a few people on here use it as a girls name (thanks Gilmore Girls I'm sure) but ugh, not my style for a girl's name. Then again, NO boy's name is safe these days. Anyway, good luck on figuring one out. We still aren't 100% settled on one, we have about 3 that we waiver between and we'll probably just pick after he's born at this point.
Virginia: Raymond definitely had the darker look that Oliver has when he was that age, but not Alex It'll be interesting to see which of the kids he looks more like in a year from now.
Amanda: booo to your DH having to work long hours!
Erica: sorry Lily isn't being the best sleeper - I hate those little phases
AFM: took Brekke to our little aquarium late this morning and she ran around like crazy and totally wore herself out (yay). She was trying to give the fish kisses the whole time. DH is training for a half-ironman that is later this summer & bought a new road bike for far more money that I would have preferred for him to spend but oh well, he's happy I guess. The nesting bug has gotten to me...wish it would've held off another 2 weeks so my house could STAY clean.
I've heard it for a few girls too....I prefer it for a boy but hey whatever works for you We still mostly go through names casually so not to argue about it LOL
yay for nesting! I could use some cleaning bug to hit me. Things are a bit of a mess!
Virginia I think it's too funny that WITH a baby you still HAVE baby fever Oh the wait is going to be interesting for you!
Hoping all is going well for PAM!!
Lazy rainy day here. I let Evan hang in PJs all day LOL We slept in and relaxed and didn't do much. It was nice.
I like Rory, but that might be cause of the character in Dr Who (that is male), the character is a bit of a dork but a real sweetheart. Natalie's middle name is after a Dr Who character, Rose, she was AWESOME!
Yes DH and I are geeks.
Though incredibly popular right now I still love the name Liam.
My choices for boys in the past were.
Yes Virginia I could easily name 4 boys.
Funny thing is both times we had no trouble with boys names, but girls was a real trick, and of course we had girls.
I like Liam too DH isn't a fan and since it's getting popular I figured I wouldn't push it. But I do really like it. I know three Jacksons called Jack....all in a relatively small group of friends so despite liking that one too I'll pass and DH already has a nephew named Christopher plus I dated a Christopher and it's a little hinky to pick a name of an ex LOL
DH also has Gregory, Jonathan, Cody, Matthew and Robert all taken up by his family. I actually really like the name Gregory but DH is rather anti using a name already used soooo it's a no-go
Katie - DH and I are going to have issues with names if we have a boy!
Amanda - I LOVED rose! She was the best (also, the 9th Doctor is my favorite). I am a pretty huge geek too, so is DH.
Ash - at least the nesting bug hit you - mine was all weird and it involved obsessing over socks and burp clothes, not cleaning the house. LOL!
Virginia - yay for cloth that fits Alex! You'll have to let me know how they worked out - I remember they were a really good price.
AFM - we are at my mom's - Lily was awesome with the chaos of traveling/packing and being in a new place with new people (she hasn't seen some of my other family other than on skype since she was a newborn, and obviously doesn't remember them). She's even doing okay sleeping here so far (well for Lily - she's always a pretty lousy sleeper). Tomorrow should be interesting - I am going to get a pedicure (first one since she is born!!) and there will be even more new people, plus tomorrow night is my reunion, so she will be with everyone else. DH is staying with her, so it should be okay, although she has been super clingy with me, even screaming when DH held her and I left the room earlier. Fingers and toes crossed that it goes okay.
We brought all of our laundry and I am just waiting to switch clothes into the dryer, then I am going to bed. I miss having my own washer/dryer - so much more convenient than having to go out and do it.
Actually, we do better with boys' names than girls' names. I think. We've never really discussed girls' names.
Erica - so far so good. No leaks, (haven't tested with a big breastmilk poop, though), did fine in the first wash, etc. The velcro is super easy to put on and get a good fit, but I'm sure I'll have to replace it someday (not a big deal). The diapers came with 2 inserts and it says to use both. Using 2 on Alex makes it about the same size as most CDs (inserts are thinner and narrower than most) but using one on Olier makes it fit really nicely for a OS pocket. It doesn't seem huge under his clothes at all. The diapers were such a good price because they've made revisions and are clearing out the old ones. The only reason I'm hesitating to order more is reviews of the diapers from a year or two ago said there were issues with them delaminating. I might just get some more anyway. I'm going to keep trying the same 5 out of a week or so, I think, so if some disaster happens I can return the others (warranty isn't great because they're clearance). If you want some pics I can try to get some up later.
I looked at those diapers and thought about buying a few, but really we have exactly how many we need and there's no point in buying more... Hopefully Xander will be potty trained before we have baby #2, so we won't have to double our stash.
Erica, hope the pedicure goes well! Have fun at your reunion. Glad Lily is doing well with the new environment.
Katie, it's turning into a lazy rainy day here too. Though no pj's. Congrats again on your little boy! Hope you guys can agree on a name.
Amanda, OMG I looooooooooooove Dr. Who! Though no spoilers, we just started watching them on Streaming Netflix and are only on the beginning of Season 3 at this point, so obviously we have a lot more to watch. I'm going to be so sad when the switch away from David Tennants Dr. Who, though, because I just love him! DH and I are total geeks, too. We watch all the geeky shows. lol.
AFM, my mom and sister were here for a couple days and we had so much fun. Xander is at a great age and had so much fun playing with them. My mom loved it. DH and I were going to go camping this weekend, but the weather changed and we're getting hit with more rain. booooooo! So we decided to just stay home instead. Oh well, I'm behind on laundry anyway.
Hm I am going to have to look up this Dr Who we have Netflix and summer TV is terrible lol And I'm averaging over a book a week so I think I need some TV to balance me out. HAHA DH is a total nerd and while I like to think of myself as the semi-non-nerd in the relationship I'm not too far from it
Lauren - sorry camping didn't work out but weekends home are nice too
Erica - glad Lily was so good that's always fun
Virginia - glad you like the diapers!
Evan has been in a shy/cling to mommy mode lately. Must be a phase. He warms up eventually but it takes a while and even after he does he prefers to stick to me lately. He never really went through a sep anxiety phase earlier so maybe it's hitting him later. DH is at a bachelor party right now. I use the term loosely - they are playing cards, eating pizza, and hanging out. I mean the father of the bride is there LOL It's nothing wild and crazy by any means. I'm not even sure if there's beer. And it started at 1pm b/c besides the groom most everyone has kids so late night benders aren't in the cards Hopefully DH has fun playing texas hold 'em he knows nothing about cards. Evan is napping and I should swap the laundry.....I already cleaned the family room....wild times
LOL... I totally looked prego. I didn't get as big this time, but that's because I gestated 3 weeks longer with Sean and he came out 2 lbs bigger. I swear it's that white lab coat that I have to wear. It hides all bit of body shape, so my coworkers always all think I'm such a tiny prego when in reality, I've gained 40 lbs both times. It's all an optical illusion, haha. On that note, I'm almost to my pre-preg weight, which is comforting... It took a lot longer this time, so I was starting to think it would never happen. I still have ~3 lbs to go, but I'm pretty sure that's all in my boobs, with 3 extra cup sizes, hahaha.
Pam - CONGRATULATIONS!!! Saw your fb updates this morning. She's an adorable little chunker!
Katie - Good luck with names... I have no clue what we'll do if we end up with a 3rd boy, hahaah...
Erica - Good to hear Lily is traveling well. Sean was always hit or miss with it as a baby... So far, Cal has never melted down. He is SO much more laid back than Sean was.
Ash - Happy nesting!! I never really got the nesting bug with either one, aside from ONE day that I can remember with Sean. I blame it on being induced, haha... I'll bet it would've happened eventually!
Amanda - Booo for allergies. Hope you're feeling better and your physical went okay.
Virginia - I'm glad the IL's were able to give you a bit of a break. I can imagine that 3 little boys of those ages can be insanely overwhelming all by yourself. I get overwhelmed with my two and DH is always here to help!!
Lauren - Booo for crappy weather ruining plans. It was supposed to be nice here all weekend, but now they're calling for T-storms tomorrow. We were hoping to go to the zoo, boo. But at least we had good weather today.
AFM - Had a small party for Sean's birthday today... Just my parents, DH's parents, and my 2 grandmas and my grandpa (the one who has been in and out of the hospital this year). It was so nice that he was able to make it. They only stayed a couple of hours because they also have a total of about 3 hours of driving, but it was good to see them since my gpa has been in such poor health lately. I made Sean's cake and the frosting all from scratch and it was a big hit! I was nervous because I always manage to screw something up, but it turned out really good! I could've died... MIL and FIL bought Sean fish for his birthday... Uggghh... He LOVES them, but to me, they're just two more things to try not to kill, hahaha... OMG. Ooooh well... I'm going to name them, just not sure what yet.
ETA: Can't believe that 2 years ago today was my EDD. I remember feeling so restless and antsy, but mostly disappointed that he still wasn't here yet, haha.
Just checking in. I read it all. I'm exhausted today. Oliver was up 3 times last night. He usually does much better.
Mary - yay for fish. I want to get some, but first I need to figure out where to put them where the kids can see them but not reach them and the cats can't eat them. It mihgt be a while.
LOL... The fish are kinda cute. Sean loves them. It's SO funny though because I was JUST talking to my coworker the other day about how Sean loves fish but I've always intentionally NOT bought them because I don't want to deal with the upkeep of the tank and I'd probably just kill the fish, etc. And literally two days later, I have fish. Oh goodness...
Sorry about the poor sleep. I hope the boys give you a break today.. Maybe a nap! I actually got decent sleep (for once) last night. Cal hasn't slept all that well in the last 2 months. I swear he slept better as a newborn (haha, probably the bit of jaundice).
AFM - Sean can officially count to 10 on his own. He just walks around the house counting. He has also started counting objects, but he only really points out objects in 2's or 3's. I also has him to throw something in the trash earlier and his response was "No. I don't want to." He's starting to say longer sentences. So fun to watch!
I took some sweet naked baby butt pictures of Cal yesterday, then was so sad to find that my memory card screwed up and they were apparently lost. A photog friend of mine had the same thing happen recently and was able to retrieve her pictures, so I tried the same program and it worked. She didn't get all of hers back and I'm not sure I did either. It found 1183 pictures, but of the ones I took yesterday, it seems like I took more than I actually ended up with, so I guess I'll never know for sure if I got them all. Here are a few anyway...
In this one, he looks a bit like Sean near this age -
And a picture of Sean with his birthday cake. I can't remember if I updated on his party, but it went well. My homemade cake and frosting both turned out awesome, and my grandpa (the one with health issues) made it.
Mary - Glad Sean had a good party and that your cake was yummy.
Fish aren't too bad, the former owners of our house left behind a betta that the real estate agent brought in to decorate while selling, anyway me, who has a black thumb of death for house plants, managed to keep the fish alive 4 months, I know not much but we don't know how old it was when we got it.
Love the pictures of the boys
With Dr Who Tennant is definatly my favourite, though Matt Smith is good, so you will not be disappointed when he takes over, won't say any more to prevent spoilers.
The weather dried up today so my allergies are better.
I thought I posted about my physical, it went good, my PaP tests will be a while coming back but the doctor said I seem healthy to her. She said if my period goes back to being weird she will send me to a specialist.
The past few days my body is has been odd, I should be getting AF by the end of the week but its showing signs of O'ing, TMI, lots of EWCM.
Anyway I should get back to work. Canada Day is Friday so I only work 2 days this week, happy for a long weekend.
Mary - love the pics! Cal is getting so chubby! And OMG, Sean has hair!
Amanda - sorry your body is being weird.
AFM: well, we spent the morning playing in sprinklers at a park. Or, rather, given what chickens my boys are, watching other kids play in the sprinklers.
I bought Raymond some dry erase books which are supposed to teach how to write his letters and numbers. He has shown no interest in drawing anything recognizeable except circles and deformed smiley faces. I was expecting either no interest or random scribbling, but instead he has insisted on doing the books whenever he gets a chance and has already shown improvement tracing over the letters! Pretty exciting.
Amanda - I get a day or two of EWCM right before AF typically. It's super normal and is due to the sudden drop in progesterone.
Virginia - Glad Raymond is having a good time with the books and tracing his letters! That's super exciting! I bought Owen his first coloring book and set of crayons last week (those fat, triangular ones that are supposed to help them learn how to hold writing utensils properly) and all we get is two-handed scribbles for about 1 minute and then 5 minutes of him attempting to eat all of them. Haha. I guess he's a little young yet. The sprinkler sounds fun!
Mary - Love the pics of Cal! So cute! Glad you were able to retrieve all of your pics! The software I mentioned on FB was what DH used to retrieve mine. But he is an IT guy, so it was probably a confusing program.
Katie - Good luck with names! I can't believe we already know the sex! I swear you just got your BFP yesterday, right?
Ash - How did your nesting go this weekend? He'll be here soon! Only a few more days til YOUR MONTH!
Erica - Glad the traveling went well!
AFM - Not too much going on. I go to see my OB (well, the new doc in the practice - I hear she's awesome!) on Thursday. TMI - I had some mid-cycle spotting (well, pink and red and brown swirled in my CM) and cramping last week that wasn't associated with Oing (haven't O'd yet, actually), so I decided to just make an appointment to get things checked out since we'll be TTC in ~3 months or so. Just want to make sure everything is in working order and it's not some funky hormonal thing or something. Charting has been awesome, though! I went back through and saw I had a month like this back in December, too! I wonder if they're random cysts or something? I've also been having spotting right after DTD the day or so before AF is due, though I read in TCOYF that it's super normal and totally fine. But I'll bring it up with the doc on Thursday just in case, too. It's happened in the last two cycles, so we'll see. I'm glad I'm going! It'll be nice to get that pre-conception check-up.
GL at the appointment, Jen.
Oh my. I need to get off this site for a little bit. Crazy pregnancy fever.
Hey everyone, no time for personals right now but wanted to pop in. DH threw a curve ball at me over the weekend & now we are torn between 3 names. He suddenly wants to make a decision whereas I'm finally settled on deciding when he's born, so I don't know what we'll do. His fave of the 3 is my least and vice versa. Sigh.
Had some minor contractions last night - nothing regular or really painful, but it was a little freaky that something might happen (but obviously they went away). Have an appt tomorrow so I'm hoping for a little progress but I really doubt it. I'll update after I get home anyway. Hope everyone had a good weekend!
:biglaugh: I couldn't help but laugh at that... It only took two years! He has only has his hair cut twice ever, hahaha. I wonder how long it will take Cal? I'm glad Raymond liked his books!! Sean tries to draw fish, lol... They don't look like fish, but I pretend they do because he's so proud of them, haha.
Jen - Hope all is well at the appointment! How exciting that you'll be TTC again soon!! Yeah, that program confused me... I was all stressed and sad over losing my pics too, so that probably didn't help.
Ash - Good luck with the name decision!!
Amanda - Sorry about the body weirdness. You've had a few weird cycles lately, booo!!
AFM - Just got home from work and was hungry after not eating all day. I grabbed some leftovers from Sean's party and some potato chips. Sean wanted one, so I gave it to him. He wandered off, and DH apparently shut his finger in the door when he was taking out the trash, and Sean had the chip in his mouth... CHOKED on it! Freaked me out, but was still able to (sorta) cry... So I could tell he was breathing, but it wasn't normal. Then he started VOMITING!! OMG... It was terrifying. I was holding him and he was crying... Never stopped breathing... Just scared me sh*tless. He puked up a stomach full of food... blueberries, bread, strawberries... just all sorts of random stuff. Eww. OMG. He just cried for a while as I held him. *Sigh*
Ugh! I just typed all the personals and my browser went haywire. Grr!
Mary - I can't believe Sean is 2! All our babies are growing up way too fast! Calvin's new pictures are so precious! The one with his little baby butt is great blackmail for the future! OH GOODNESS! I would have been terrified if I were in your shoes too. I'm glad Sean's okay. Poor baby!
Amanda - Ugh! Allergies suck. I'm glad you're feeling better. Claire, DH and I have all had troubles with our allergies lately. Boo! Sorry your cycle is being a bit wonky.
Erica - Glad Lily's doing well on the trip!
Ashley - Not too much longer!!! Sorry DH threw a curveball with another name option! Can't wait to see pictures of your little man!
Katie - How are you feeling?
Jen - Hooray for a pre-conception check-up! And for a TTC date!
Virginia - Sorry Oliver was up more than usual last night. And I'm right there with ya with all the baby fever. I cannot wait to be :preggo: again!
AFM - I'm a bit annoyed right now. Crazy SIL hasn't even called/text since Claire's been born. The only time she calls DH is to gripe about something we did or didn't do, gripe about his parents or her boy drama, etc... We're flying up there on Saturday and tonight DH got a text that said, "Hey. I want to keep Claire when y'all are up here." Umm... I just looked at DH and said, "You know how I would feel about that." He's in complete agreement. He's irked that she has acted like Claire doesn't exist and now that we're visiting she's trying to be all involved all of a sudden. He just text her and said that she's more than welcome to hang out with all of us while we're there. No response back from her. Ha!
I'm SO anxious about this trip. SIL and I have had tension between us for the past 5 years. (She's jealous because she's older than DH and divorced, no kids, bad relationship with their parents, etc...) I just feel like she is always trying to attack me. Anyway, there's been a few times that I've spoken my mind, but it's few and far between... (I HATE confrontation.) But if she smells of smoke and makes me feel uncomfortable when she's around Claire, I won't have any trouble standing up and speaking my mind. Momma-Bear is going in fully equipped to handle her.
Any advice for dealing with in-laws?
Virginia - Raymond sounds like a smart boy, practicing letters already, WOW!
Jen - Hope your preconception appointment goes well and you like the new doctor.
Ashley - Go with the middle name of the 3 you have chosen :D, actually I would wait until baby is born. Can't wait to hear if you are progressing.
Mary - Sorry to hear about Sean's accident, it is so scary when they choke, glad to hear he was breathing the whole time.
Laura - So annoying of your SIL, glad your DH is on side with you, hope she can be respectful while you are there.
Seems there is always drama with DH's family, so 2 weeks ago we had MIL over for dinner, she cried at us that she was broke and going to lose the house. Well I get on Facebook and my SIL (who is living with her) posts pictures of them (MIL, SIL and Niece) at Wonderland, a days admission plus parking costs about $180!!! I think if the mortgage isn't being paid for NO ONE in the house should be spending money on entertainment, especially something that expensive. It gets me mad, just cause she complains to DH and I on how tight money is all the time!!! After that fiasco I decided to stop FB from showing any posts by MIL and SIL.
Anyway on to other stuff.
Natalie's school had a graduation and barbecue yesterday, the ceramony was cute they put all the kids in little cardboard graduation hats that they made. We didn't bring the camera cause we thought the graduation part would be only for the kids leaving, it wasn't, so DH and I ended up using our phones to take pictures, I'm not sure how well they turned out, I'll have to take a peek later.
I can't believe the school year is almost over, Wednesday is Dana's last day. Her best friend is having a pool party after school to celebrate so she will be heading there for some fun. After that she goes with my mom to Ottawa to Celebrate Canada Day.
DH and I are probably going to take it easy in the morning on Canada Day (Friday), then spend the late afternoon and evening at Wonderland so we can see the Canada Day fireworks.
My grandpa is turning 70 on July 4th so my family is having a celebration at the race track for him Saturday the buffet is good at the resturant in there, so I can't wait. He's so tough to buy for but he's had a picture of Dana and him in his office for years (he really likes it), so I think I might print some pictures of him with the girls and frame them as a gift.
Our city holds a festival every Canada Day weekend, down at the waterfront, I also hope to find some time to go there.
Yes it's Tuesday and I already have my entire weekend planned.
Had my 37 week appt today. Nothing exciting whatsoever to report - still 1/2 cm dilated and uterus measuring 37 cm (same as last week). He says my cervix is really "tight" so I don't know exactly what that means, but I guess he can't really stretch it any bigger than a fingertip. He did mention that if I start dilating & my cervix gets softer, we could induce @ 39 weeks, and if not, he'll probably induce at 40 weeks. I'm not sure how I feel about that since I wanted to avoid the induction but there are some pros as far as scheduling help with my DD & that he'd probably do it over a weekend so we'll see how the next few weeks go, but I may end up going that route again. Funny how towards the end your priorities change
Laura - Good luck with the IL's. I'm certainly not sure how to deal with them since I've had my own issues of my IL's wanting to monopolize my days off work. I also hate confrontation and speaking my mind, so I keep my mouth shut and then complain on here to you girls, hahaha...
Amanda - Sounds like someone has their priorities mixed up if they're paying for expensive entertainment like that, but not paying the mortgage... I feel no pity for people who get into trouble due to their own irresponsibility.
Ash - Sounds like things are right on track... Hopefully you've made some more progress by next week!
AFM - Just feeling Cal and trying to entertain Sean while DH installs our new faucets in our master bathroom. He already did the one in our bathroom by the kitchen and still needs to do the one by the other bedrooms. We hated the ones that were here when we moved in and one of them was prone to dripping, so we're just replacing all of them except the one in the basement. The new ones look much better.
Virginia - you can't possibly have pregnancy fever already can you?! LOL Of course you can too funny
Laura - sorry about SIL. No advice my SILs are all much older than I am (Sue is 49, Debbie 47, and then Kathy is closest at 39) so there are never issues. I'm lucky like that. But I say she better be respectful -- and compliment Claire on how adorable she is over and over!!! Just sayin' b/c it's true!
Mary - aww I bet Sean's adorable Love the pics I can't believe how big Cal is getting
Ashley - I remember wishing my doc would mention induction lol But my doc is one of those die hard unless you have something dangerous he'll let you go 2 weeks so it never even came up for me. at some point you're just READY!
Busy couple of days working etc But tomorrow then 5 day weekend (Monday off for 4th) then 2 more days and I'm off for 11 straight days and we're going to Cape Cod! Yay vacation! Not that I'm counting down
Katie - Yaaay for vacation soon! I want vacation. Too bad my maternity leave was so early in the year. Now I have to wait until 2012 to take more time off. Next year is my 5-yr anniversary with the company, so I'm supposed to get an extra week of vacation. I'm not sure if my extra week kicks in at the beginning of the year, on my hire date (August), or not until the beginning of 2012, though... I've heard all those are possible, so of course I hope it's ASAP.
AFM - I had a stress dream about being prego last night. It's the second dream I've had since Cal was born where I got pregnant and the baby was born on a date that would make him Cal's Irish twin. The first dream wasn't really stressful, but this one had a stressful feel to it. Good thing we're pretty much past the point where we could have his irish twin (with the exception of a preemie), hahaha. The anniversary of my BFP for him is coming up on July2.
Mary - I'm having those dreams, too.
Katie - yay vacation!
Ash - I hope things pick up for you.
Amanda - sounds like a fun weekend!
AFM: got the pregnancy fever under control, I think. I met a group of moms at a playground yesterday and i think we hit it off. They get together at a playground every week and one of them asked for my e-mail. I hope I actually hear from them. I need some friends.
Today is Raymond's last day of preschool for the year. But he's really excited about the "swimming school" he has coming up.
Read everything but at work so not able to post much, just marking my place.
Laura, sorry about your SIL being a pita. I'd avoid confrontation with her over small things (she seems to like drama), but if it's something very important (like the smoking around Claire) then definitely say something. I'm sure your inner momma bear will definitely come out!
Mary, already ready for vacation, eh? hehe.
Ash, so close!!!
Virginia, the playgroup sounds promising!!
Katie, I'm so jealous of your vacation! Can I come?
Amanda, I'm also in the boat of not feeling sorry for people that complain about having no money, yet spend what little they have (or charge) on stupid stuff.
AFM, we've finally had a couple rain-free days, so Xander and I have been outside almost all day. It's been awesome. However, he's become much more prone to tantrums lately and will freak out if he even SEES the swings from afar and I don't let him go. I'm kind of a harda$$ mom and don't give in, so we have a lot of meltdowns outside. The last thing I need is him thinking he can go to the playground whenever the heck he wants. We go once or twice a day, so it's not like I don't take him. He's just trying to push me. haha. Now if only he loved the pool that much! I want to go to the pool, but he never wants to get in the water. Ugh.
UGH! I had personals all written and everything earlier this morning and then pg.org went down for a minute and I lost it. Grr! So sorry for the shorties...
Lauren: yay for rain-free days!! We've had good weather too but it's been soo hot (mid-90s) and windy that we've stayed inside for the most part.
Katie: woohoo for a vacation!! I can't figure my OB out; he was anti-induction until at least 41 weeks with my DD, but with this one he seems really open to the idea. Maybe it's because I did so well with it last time (?) or just because I'm delivering at a hospital 20 minutes from where we live (he lives like a mile from my house, lol).
Mary: why do you think you keep having the dreams about the irish twins? What BC are you using? Just wondering if you are stressed out about it on some level of actually happening. Anyway, yay for new faucets, that makes such a difference!
Virginia: I hope Raymond likes his swimming lessons. I can't wait to get Brekke is some "real" ones next summer. It's hard to find any around here that'll let you have babies in diapers (even the swim ones) because they had a really bad outbreak of cryptosporidiosis a few summers ago and now most public pools are anti-diaper.
Amanda: giving pictures of your kids to grandparents is always a safe bet for gifts. It's super easy and they love them!
AFM: I decided to charge up my camera & camcorder yesterday (plus I needed to get the videos off my camcorder since it's memory card was full). After I put the battery back in my Canon, the lens wouldn't auto-focus. Long story short, Canon is going to fix it under warranty supposedly (I guess there's a chance they might try to charge me) but I had to send it in this morning to California so I might not get it back before the baby is born. I have another lens but it is for distance so it is tricky to do regular pictures with. Oh well, DH has an OK point-and-shoot plus we have the video camera so we'll get buy if I don't get it back. Still a bummer though.
Mary, already ready for vacation, eh? hehe.
More than you know! LOL. I did check into it today and they said I'll definitely get my extra week of vacation next year, but they're not sure if it'll be effective Jan 1 or on my anniversary date which is in August. It doesn't matter... That just means I can take my 2 weeks that I normally get in the early part of the year, then take my new third week off sometime after August. Fine by me! Can't wait, lol...
Sorry Xander doesn't like the pool. I really want to take Sean, but haven't tried it yet this year. Our weather hasn't really been all that great. LOTS of stormy days.
LOL... Abstinence, hahahaha. I'm not on BC, but it's a rare day when I actually put out too. :biglaugh: Poor DH. It's funny... In the last dream, I called my boss to tell him I was in labor and wouldn't be coming back to work because I'd be on maternity leave. He acted VERY irritated and told me he didn't even know I was pregnant. I was SO stressed because I knew that meant they didn't have time to think up a solution for replacing me and that it would cause everyone else a lot of stress and a lot of extra work. It's actually feasible... In my pregnancy with Cal, I only saw my boss once and like I said, the white lab coat hides EVERYTHING. So I really could go through a whole pregnancy without him even knowing. So really... This last dream was really more about being stressed about work than about having another baby. It's the exact same way that I felt toward the end of my pregnancy when most of my OB appointments ended with me headed to L&D and not sure if I was going to miss work or be late for work, or who knows, maybe have a baby that day, etc. I felt SO freaked out the day I was induced... Just stressed to call my boss and tell him, and then he sorta seemed to have an irritated tone when he asked how long I was taking off and I told him 12 weeks. So I think it might just be leftover stress from that that's back now that I'm back to work.
Wow, that was long. LOL. Sorry...
Sorry about your camera. That's such a bummer! What horrible timing with the baby coming so soon... Since I'm doing the 365 project, I'm so scared that something will happen to my camera and I won't be able to finish it. And then I had the issue with my memory card losing pics, and I'm so scared something will go wrong!
Virginia - Good luck with the mommy friends. I don't really have any either, and I need some. I'm too much of an introvert... I don't really go out and meet new people much.
I've read everything and am marking my place. We are back home and settled back into some normal routines, but it's been crazy since DH has 2 freelance projects right now, both with July 1 deadlines.
Just copying this from my facebook status for those of you not on there...
Back from the boys' Dr. appointment. They both got 2 shots (lots of tears, aww). At 2 years, Sean is 30 lbs and 35.5". At 4 months, Calvin is 14lb 10oz and 25.5". I looked back at Sean's 4-month stats and he was the same length, but 17lb 3oz. He was FAT, lol!!
Doctor was impressed with Cal's development, said he has perfect head/neck control and he smiled/squealed/cooed/laughed for her, so she liked that.
And the best part.... I found out that apparently in January of 2010, I paid a bill that my insurance also paid and I am owed a credit somewhere in the realm of $400!! It's always nice to find money you didn't know you had!
Amanda - Dana just got out of school? Seems so late! When does the school year start up there?
Ashley - Come on baby boy! Sorry you're still just 1/2cm dilated. I can totally understand why your priorities have changed on wanting to be induced! I was like that towards the end too!
Katie - I like your response to my SIL rant. And I like your siggy picture! Hooray for a vacation soon! I've never been to Cape Cod, is it beautiful there?
Mary -I've been having pregnancy dreams too! Yahoo for the surprise $400!!!
Erica - Glad you had a good trip!
AFM - I'm a bit worried. My Mom's mammogram came back abnormal last week. She had an ultrasound (or was it a sonogram?) yesterday and they're doing a biopsy this afternoon. They think it's a cyst, but they just want to make sure. If it's anything to be concerned about, they're catching it early. The spot is only 6mm, so that's good! Still scary!
Mary - Way to grow those boys! Hope the abstinence works for you. TMI: We're definitely not going that route. Let's just say, if I suddenly became fertile there's a pretty good chance we'd catch the egg. Fortunately, LAM seems to work well for me (fingers crossed it works this time, too!).
Laura - My mom is going through that, too. She had an abnormal mammogram and recently had a lumpectomy, but it wasn't enough so she'll need a mastectomy. If you need any support or someone to talk to, PM me.
Lauren - GL with the tantrums
Ash - hope the camera comes back before baby comes!
AFM: I got an e-mail from the women I met! The only catch is that they all know each other from church. They're Mormon, (which is why they're my age and have kids, that's rare in my area) and I'm definitely not. But they seemed okay with it. Hopefully it'll work out.
Also, at the playground this morning I spent a while talking with a woman who was there with her autistic, 4 year old, great granddaughter. She told me that in the 40s-50s she had 9 kids in just over 11 years (no twins). Busy busy! Obviously, she was still very with it and did an amazing job with the little girl. I was really impressed. I'd like to be like that someday (maybe with fewer kids and with a completely healthy great granddaughter. ;))
Mary - What are you feeding that boy? I need some advice on helping Natalie gain she's about 25lbs at 2 1/2 years.
Yay for the credit!!!
Laura - School starts the weekend after labour day, so early September. I know a couple of schools have modified schedules where they get more time off during march (spring) break and christmas, so they miss less over the summer.
Thinking positive thoughts for your mom.
Virginia - I found that some Mormon's can be really pushy about religion, there were some in my old neighbourhood seemed really nice if you just chatted with them but over time they would try to force their beliefs on you. DH has managed to keep them away from our homes in both the neighbourhoods we live in. I do hope that these people are different from the ones I've encountered and will be your friend for who you are and nothing else.
Thats great that she is such a wonderful grandmother, good for her taking care of the grand kids.
Went to the park with Natalie, she had a great time.
I felt kind of bad for this one girl she was disabled and needed assistance to walk, but looks like she will return to normal over time, this isn't want made me feel bad, what did was her mother giving mixed signals. The mom first told the she couldn't play on the stairs and slides cause she wasn't able to, suggested a springy see saw type thing, the girl walked over to the stairs with her walker anyway and started crawling up using her legs a bit, but not much, the mother walks over and tells her if shes not going to stand up then she's not going to get the play on the equiptment. Just made me so mad, I don't care if a kid is disabled they need to play and do it in their own way as long as it's not harming anyone, I would bet she'd heal faster if mom just layed off a bit.
Mary - What are you feeding that boy?
Hahah... He's addicted to milk. I actually wish he'd lay off a bit, but she said it's fine as long as he's not getting constipation and he's within healthy BMI range.
Amanda - That's so irritating about the people at the park. I agree, if she's not hurting herself or anyone else, just let her play the way that is best for her... Grr.
Laura - I hope all is well with your mom. How scary! I've been through that with my mom and she had to have biopsies. Thankfully in her case, it's always been related to fibrocystic breast disease, which really is not a big deal. I think I inherited it from her though, which sorta sucks. Anyway, sending T&P your way!
Virginia - WOW, 9 kids in 11 years?!?! Holy freaking moly. I wouldn't have any hair left because I would have ripped it out by #5. Hahaha. It's funny that it's rare in your area that people your age have kids. In my area, it's rare for people to start as late as I did. I was 25, almost 26 when Sean was born, and I'm an old mom, hahahah..
AFM - Sean had fun for his birthday today. There's a cool park nearby with nice elevated wood paths over a sort of swampy wetland area. Anyway, it leads to an area that is more in town, but set up in a way that it feels more isolated. And it leaks to a place called Creekside (literally that, a big creek). Anyway, you can do whatever there... Play in the water, fish, walk dogs, etc. So we took Sean there to let him play in the water. There's a (I think man-made) waterfall that he LOVED. It's probably only 4 feet tall, but it's pretty wide and has lots of water flowing over it. So I held his hand and let him stick his other hand in it... He had so much fun splashing and playing in it... He even stuck his face in it a few times, which surprised me because I figured he'd be scared of it. It was loud with all the water flowing, but he didn't get scared at all. He had a blast. After we played in the water for a while, we took the boys walking in the double stroller to another nearby park and let Sean play in a big play area. He had a fun birthday. We might take him to Steak n Shake earlier and let him try strawberry shortcake. (Okay, we were trying to think of desserts we could let him try for his birthday and that popped into my mind and I have been craving it ever since, hahaha).
Amanda - it's all about the dairy for my older kids, too. They love it. I was actually friends with a group of Mormon moms while DH was in school and it was great. They weren't pushy at all. I'm actually a little more concerned about always feeling like and outsider because they all share the social community at their church and I'm obviously not part of that.
Mary - sounds like a fun day!
AFM: I got a shower sling off babysteals last week. Oliver has showered with me twice and he seems to enjoy it more than a bath. Today, Raymond joined us, too. Oh my. it was fun, though. I'm looking forward to using the sling with Oliver in the water (obviously not swimming!) in late August when we'll be spending a week at a lake.
I'm so far behind so I'm just going to pick up personals from here
Virginia - I hear you on friends. I have a strange mix my rescue friends mostly don't have kids or have grown children. So we have rescue in common and I probably talk to them most as we're always arranging rescue stuff etc Then I have a few mom friends but besides the fact we all have kids I don't have a ton in common with them personally. With work, dog rescue and the family I guess I don't have a ton of free time to search out moms who are also a lot like me personally.
Amanda - school is a similar schedule here too this was the first or second week of summer and the week after labor day is when everyone goes back
Mary - sounds like a fun bday! Big growing boys YAY!
We actually went to a friend's house today (funny based on my comments to Virginia). But my friend from HS who lives about an hour away invited some people with toddlers over. She has a pool and a blow up bouncy thing the kids loved along with painting. Evan had a ball. It was fun to get out despite the 2 hours of car time. And a totally beautiful day not too hot but plenty warm enough for the kids to all run around wet. I actually think she and my friend with a 1 year old may swing over Saturday b/c DH is golfing. I'm tired from a day out in the sun
