March 2014 Chat Thread

Starting a new thread since we are 4 days into march.

Katie - Great news on both baby and the house.

Virginia - Great to hear Arthur is growing well, hope you don't need to do anything for the plagiocephaly and it corrects itself.

Both scary and exciting about having to move in June, great that it would work if you plan to have a 5th. Have I mentioned you are crazy?

Fingers crossed for your sister.

*AFM*

Went to my aunt's baby shower (she's only a year older than me) it was good.

Dana went to her first concert without an adult last night, OMG my oldest is getting big! She had a good time really enjoyed it.

Natalie has her last swimming lessons for the season today, she'll start the spring ones in early April.

Did my first successful conversion from wheat to gluten free baking, made a batch of Sour Cream Oatmeal Cookies with Chocolate Chips. Biggrin They pass the kid test but DH hasn't tried them yet.

Virginia - what a big boy! Whoa that would be moving soon! I hope it goes however you want! GL to your sister I hope this is a one time fast thing and she has an easy, healthy pregnancy.

Amanda - aww Dana really is getting old! The kid test is always the one that sounds like it came out well!

I have a 12 week ultra sound set for the 14th. I might just take a vacation day and get some other errands done too. We have been juggling house stuff getting the last of the flooring done and the appraisal is this week. Of course on FB I see that there are wide spread power outages in our NY area. UGH. We had the water all drained but it needs to be on for the appraisal and people have been in and out doing the flooring so I think it is on right now. I just texted my contractor and asked if she could check first thing in the morning and just let me know that everything is ok. I can't wait to have this stress out of my life. Seriously i can't handle it much longer!

Katie - how exciting that you're almost rid of your house!! Yay for a hb!! And double yay for an u/s soon!

Amanda - wtg Dana! I'm going to be putting Xander in swim lessons pretty soon. I'm excited and nervous. He's already a pretty good swimmer w/ arm floaties, but we'll see how he does without.

Virginia - wow what a big guy! I think Benjamin is like 22 lbs or maybe a little more, and he's 14 months. lol But I've always had little guys.

AFM - yeah I'm still here. haha. I have been staying somewhat caught up, but I'd often run out of time to actually post by the time I caught up... Things are going well, I'm just over winter. I think everyone is. Next week is Xander's spring break from school, so we're spending the week with my mom and dad. DH will stay here with the dogs. Lucky guy gets a break! haha. I may be a little jealous... Xander has been a real................... handful... these days. I'm not sure how else to put it. He's definitely testing his limits!! Lots of new words he's picked up at school. *sigh* Benjamin is getting really good at walking around while holding onto stuff. It's only a matter of time til he lets go. He's also into EVERYTHING! He is a big ball of energy!

It's great to hear from you! Sorry the boys are being such a handful. Toddlers are tough.

AFM: well, not much about me, but... my sister and her husband had 6 eggs fertilize! I'm hoping and praying (I'm agnostic but, well, who knows?) that they grow into nice, healthy blastocysts and they're able to transfer 1-2 healthy ones in a few days. I want her 2ww to start. I'm at least as nervous and anxious as I get for my own 2ww! (No, not in one now... just referring to how I've felt in the past ;))

Katie - How are things going, hope the deal is done on the house for you.

Lauren - Glad to see you found a moment to pop in. Sounds like the boys are keeping you busy, have fun at your parents, hopefully your mom and dad can give you some relief and you can get some R&R over the spring break.

Virginia - I have everything crossed for your sister, so sad that some people struggle yet other just can't seem to catch a lucky break.

*AFM*

Natalie passed this level of swimming lessons, figured she would since she passed it before, I just enrolled her in it to keep her in swimming, the level she was supposed to be in was full. She starts the next level at the beginning of April.

Starting May Natalie starts soccer, she's excited for it.

Yesterday Dana turned 15, OMG shes growing up so fast, DH measured her this morning, she's now standing 5' 7" o.O

Dana had a small group of friends over on Friday for her birthday they watched movies played games, ate chips, pizza and brownies (she didn't want a cake).

Yesterday she had a Harry Potter Marathon, and had her boyfriend over for a bit of it, she watched movies 1-5, she's going to finish the rest over the March break. We took her out for dinner at a Thai resturant since she wanted curry for dinner, the food was DELICIOUS and the portions were HUGE, I brought home food in a take out container.

I'm now 5-7 days late on my period, my cycle is normally 29 to 31 days, thought I was going to have my period exactly on time had all the PMS symptoms and then they passed after a few days and no period showed, not sure what's going on, I've had late cycles in the past but not recently. Don't really want to do a pregnancy test since they are expensive and I really shouldn't be pregnant, DH had the big snip, and my doctor is on maternity leave so getting an appointment in the office is difficult.

Happy Birthday to Dana! Wow, 15! I hope AF shows so you can relax.

AFM: My sister transferred one "beautiful" embryo yesterday! I don't know if she'll test or just wait for the blood test. I guess she's technically 6dpo now.
Getting a touch of baby fever again. Yes, four little boys is crazy. Yesterday was a super busy day on top of it. But, we're starting to do some packing and I really don't want to get rid of all the baby things yet. A lot hinges on what happens with DH's work. We might get some idea in a few days of where things are going.

Amanda - 15 and a boyfriend wow! I feel like I'm light years away from that but I know time will fly! I hope your cycle evens out

Lauren - I hear you I have days like that with Evan and it's tiring! I can never exactly pin point why he has testing days, probably just part of being 4, but it is hard!

Virginia - YAY for your sister I hope this embryo is your niece or nephew!! I can't believe you could be moving soon, I hope it works out however you want it to

AFM - all is well. I'm debating if I'm going to go to an u/s Friday. I called my insurance and they only cover 1 u/s unless otherwise medically necessary. I've never had the 12 week u/s....we can pay it's not really a financial hardship but it's an hour away and I'm just not sure. Part of me wants to see the baby part of me is like ehhhh why spend 4 hours and who knows how much money. Decisions decisions. But I'm 12 weeks. That's kind of crazy....time is FLYING

As for the house we're just waiting for a closing date! All else is done, just need the date. Which also means a trip to NY which I'm psyched about. Will be good to see people!

In other good news Evan got in the college pre school program in August! YAY It's a great program all the teachers have 4 year degrees, all the part time help are students in the teaching program at the college. I'm very excited. And hopefully Rory will eventually get in their toddler program as siblings get preference. Though we are debating if DH will keep working once the baby is born or take a year or two off. Ugh another decision! Life is much easier financially with two incomes, even with three in daycare/school we're far more in the black with 2 incomes than 1 but it's tiring and exhausting to juggle two jobs and multiple daycare/preschool schedules and then Rory got sick a good bit his first year in daycare and I'd really like to avoid that added stress and illness.

all great news, Katie!
Call the u/s place and ask what they charge. The one I've gone to with #3 and #4 was very up front about what it costs if insurance doesn't cover it. I think it was something like $150. Our insurance covered it, but I thought it was great that they has the info for women who needed it.

I called the center and she said based in my insurance and the doctor's order she would be totally shocked if it wasn't covered. And the cost wasn't crazy if by chance it wasn't and I want to see the baby so tomorrow morning is u/s day yay!! Assuming all looks good we will then tell people bc second tri is fast approaching crazy!!

Appraisal is all in there are some other flooring related house headaches but I think mostly we just need to wait for the bank to schedule closing. We are looking at four houses Sunday here to start our search for the perfect house. I would like to be in and settled before baby three.

I feel a little like you virginia....I have been set that this would be my last but it is feeling hard to accept...

pico83 (not verified)

Well, four is pretty darn awesome, Katie! Wink
Yay for u/s tomorrow! You can always ask if they'll make a guess at gender, if you want to know. At 12w the doc was pretty sure Arthur was a boy. I wouldn't announce based on a prediction at that point, but it's fun.

No personals right now, keeping it quick since I am at work and have lots to do.

AF started up yesterday in full force, relieved for that.

Have been dealing with family drama, my sister separated from her other half recently. My mom has been horrible for supporting her, she's been there but hasn't really been there, if you get what I mean. Yesterday my sister had a really rough day, barely made it a few blocks from her workplace (on her commute home) and texted DH, we met up with her had coffee and calmed her down, helped her out. We also let her know that we are a safe to turn to, and she's welcome to come by at any time.

pico83 (not verified)

I'm so glad you're able to help her, Amanda.

AFM: My sister is the equivalent of 9dpo today. I've had BFPs with all my pregnancies at either 9 or 10dpo. She's waiting for her blood test (she's keeping the day a secret so she can announce when she wants). Now how do I get rid of my POAS urge?
Actually feeling a little fertile, but I'm sure it's a fake out. The question is how sure am I? Since Arthur is under 6mo and still exclusively BF on demand (usually every 4 hours at night still) I think I'll ignore it.

Amanda - I hope your sister has better days ahead and I'm sure you are a huge comfort

Virginia - I'm excited for your sister Smile I hope this is it! I can't even imagine that level of stress. And ignore the fertile signs...MWhahaha Wink I think you probably are safe and if not one more makes five Smile

AFM - super appointment. Baby was measuring 13 weeks, which isn't enough to change anything. NT was totally in the normal range blood won't be back until next week. I keep calling the baby he, I think I will be shocked if it isn't a third baby boy. Monday I'll tell work, get that out of the way. Then hopefully we'll head to NY for closing soon and tell our families. E&R had their first dentist appointments today. I know, I know waiting until E was 4 was late....but on the bright side both kids were fantastic and had beautiful healthy teeth so YAY! And then all 8 dogs went to the vet (in two groups of 4 and of the foursome I brought 2 in at a time, it's a process). All looked great and the vet was very complimentary which was nice. A nice way to start the weekend Smile

Virginia - So exciting for your sister.

Katie - Glad to hear baby is growing well. Nat had her first dentist appointment just this month and she's 5, though the health unit does regular checks in schools and daycare here on kids under a certain age, so a hygienist has seen her twice before then. It's so amazing you can handle all those dogs, we tend to take our animals 2 at a time to the vet and typically it's one dog and one cat with two people. Our vets are amazed at how well our animals behave, especially since both our dogs are high strung breed mixes.

*AFM*

My sister decided to take a break from her troubles and visit a friend in Texas, DH and I are going along with her to keep her company. My mom is watching the girls and the house for the days we are gone. Looking forward to getting away from the cold for a short bit. Biggrin

Amanda: that sounds like a great break for everyone! I am jealous of the trip

I told my boss. Since I have only been there about six months I think she was surprised and maybe not thrilled but it is what it is. Now she knows. My mom still doesn't since we should be going to NY soon I will tell her in person. Feels more real by the day lol

pico83 (not verified)

Amanda - have fun!

Katie - sorry telling work didn't go better, but it must feel nice to have it out in the open.

AFM: no news from my sister and no news on our move.

ETA: Oh my goodness. Arthur has a TOOTH! I knew he was acting like he was teething, but I expected it to last a while. He's not even 5 months yet! And he's already such a biter. Oh dear.

Virginia - I hope your sister shares some good news soon! A tooth...time flies! I hope he doesn't bite yikes!

Telling the rest of my team was fun. Two of the women that report to me are my age (one has a one year old) and they were super excited. Another on the team is also trying to get pregnant (same sex couple her partner is via iui) so she was fun to talk to too. House looks like it should close a week from tomorrow! So exciting!!!

I think I promised some pictures about a month ago.

My little marshmallow splashing in the tub

and a smile from today

Still waiting to hear from my sister. She must know by now. She's 16dpo. I'm nervous that she hasn't said anything yet. And not knowing about the move is driving me crazy. It's hard to know what to start packing when we don't know where we're going! So much of what to take or get rid of depends on that.

Oh total chubby baby! He's getting too big for that little tub quickly! He's adorable and still reminds me most of Raymond. I take it DH's work would be relocating you vs an entirely new job? Would this be the move far away from family? Sigh....come to NC! Wink I so hope your sister has good news and is just waiting for a final confirmation, a HB or something....

I both forgot I'm pregnant completely then feel so excited and like it's so far away and I can't wait to meet him/her (I default to him, it's what I know).

TGIF! Both boys have seemed a little off the last two days. Not exactly feverish but stuffy and cranky and tired. Hopefully a good night's sleep and a calm weekend will help

pico83 (not verified)

Ugh.
Arthur is teething, congested, and having a growth spurt all at once. I have barely slept for 3 nights.
I just got back from the Dr and Raymond has scarlet fever (no signs of strep until the rash showed up and he still doesn't have a sore throat or anything) and I get to take Alex and Oliver in this afternoon to find out if they have strep, too. And there's a norovirus going around our area which I'm really, really hoping we don't get.

I want a week off.

Oh that's terrible Virginia Sad I hope the kids are on the mend soon. Four sick boys = one run down mama. Not fun. You deserve a week off!

We officially close Tuesday YAY! And I'm second trimester now! WHOA! Time FLIES!

Looking at new houses is exhausting. Here's to hoping we can find something when we want!

pico83 (not verified)

Congrats on the second tri! And on closing!

AFM: Raymond is enjoying being home from school and feeling fine. As of yesterday Alex and Oliver were strep-free. It's been a month since we had a mostly healthy family. I'm ready to get it back.

Checking in from my mom's yay Virginia that is wonderful news!! I am in bed with a wrestlers Evan who is fighting sleep. The hardest part of this whole trip is definitely getting the boys to sleep in New strange places. We told all our family about baby three. They are all excited. Tuesday is closing yahoo!!
