Mary - Congrats! Hope you get to go home pretty early today.
Jen - Hope your mom's recovery is quick, sounds like things went well.
Lauren - Good to hear that Xander behaved for the doctor, 3/4 year olds are funny their attitude towards things can change day to day.
Virginia - Glad the NT went well, are you now offically on Team Blue?
Since Wednesday was my dad's birthday DH and I went to visit him in the hospital. He made HUGE progress since a week and a half ago, amazed everyone, including nurses and doctors. He had anti-biotic resistant MRSA caused pneumonia, which many people don't survive, so it's great to know he's recovering. Every day he's progressing well, coming of supports pretty quickly.
The weather has been nice, so yesterday I took the dog out and did a run, ended up walking half of it in intervals cause I was getting pretty exhaused, when I got home and looked at my tracking online I realized that I was going faster than my normal speed on the treadmill, was relieved to know I wasn't a wimp.
Mary: looking forward to some crazy stories. Hope you get out of there soon!
Virginia: :woohoo: Great news!
Lauren: GOOO Xander! That's the best when they totally surprise you like that. And "only" 35 pounds makes me laugh (although I understand what you mean) because Brekke is maybe 28 pounds and a few months older. But she isn't tall either... poor little peanut!
Amanda: glad your dad is improving and that you got to see him on his b-day!
Trying to start tackling my "to do" list before the baby gets here in a month. Suddenly I feel the pressure to make sure things are done. I need to sew a crib skirt (bought the fabric Wednesday) because I couldn't find anything that matched what I was going for elsewhere. Then I need to hang a few shelves, make an IKEA run for a storage cube (love them for the kids instead of a dresser), and make/hang a few decorations for baby's room then I should be done. Only 32 days until my EDD...yikes! Mary must have lit a fire under me to get moving ;)
Ashley - Hope you can strike out a few of those things on your to-do list.
Just complaining about DH, I do really really want to see the new Ironman and Star Trek movies, but his asking me about plans for them is driving me INSANE! My Mom was going to watch Nat tomorrow night so we could go see Ironman but cancelled cause my Dad wants her to stay at the hospital and watch the Leafs game with him. She said she'd watch Nat tonight but I forgot to see if she'd be okay with the show time we were planning on going to and asked me to call her cell phone, uh no, she's on her way to the hospital to visit my Dad now there is no way I am going to call her. Does he just not get it or understand? Her priorities aren't on our kids right now, I'm cool with that but he doesn't seem to get it.
Nope, not officially team blue yet. still just an 80% chance. ;) I haven't had an u/s since 12w, I just head additional bloodwork to finish the test and got the results from that. big u/s is in 2 weeks.
ETA: since I was uploading a new belly pic, I figured I'd share one from Oliver's birthday, too. He was having a very sad party, but stopped crying for the cake. And he really wanted us to just stop singing and give him the whole thing
Alex wanted the cake, too. And in case you're wondering, it was a delicious chocolate mousse cake with shaved dark chocolate and candied violets on top. We have an amazing cake bakery near us. :D
Virginia - so cute! Happy Birthday! I can't believe he's 2 already
Amanda - so glad your dad is doing better! Hope you got/get to see the movie
Ashley - GL getting everything done. I can't believe you have a month!
Mary - Hope you're enjoying those first few crazy days! I was wondering....are you going to be 5 in a bed? If so you'll be my hero LOL
The weather is beautiful here I LOVE it! Just playing outside and having a generally relaxing day!
after 2 1/2 hours straight putting away laundry and switching the kids to new sizes and/or summer clothes I'm ready to sign the whole family up for a nudist colony. How do people with a bunch of kids handle all the darn laundry?
Virginia - you tell me how you handle all the laundry! lol. I can hardly keep up with two kids, I don't know how you do it!
Amanda - so glad to hear your dad is doing better. Sorry your DH doesn't seem to get it, obviously your mom has other priorities at the moment...
Katie - we had some gorgeous weather, too. Too bad I was stuck inside cleaning while DH and Xander got to play outside! Boooo!
AFM - Allergy update.... Well I was right about the sesame, I'm allergic to that. And I'm also allergic to SOY! SOOOOY! It's in EVERYTHING! My ranch dressing, mayonnaise, canned tuna (!), bread, crackers, and, well, everything... And I'm more allergic to that than peanuts or sesame, so I really have to avoid it. This sucks so bad. It explains why I've felt so crappy for so long... I'm also allergic to apples and carrots. Seasonally, I'm allergic to most trees (except pines), grass, corn pollen (great when you live in IL!), cats, guinie pigs, dogs (great since I have TWO!), and I'm majorly severely allergic to dust mites. The spot on my back was bigger than a golf ball when she came to check me after a few minutes, she was like "oh dear!" lol So they said I have to be crazy strict about keeping my house clean or I'm always going to feel crummy... They said to start with my bedroom, so I've spent the last two days completely taking it apart and cleaning everything (with a mask on, yeah I have to wear a mask when I clean now), which has been awesome... Luckily we have a temperpedic-like bed and pillows, which dust mites can't live in, so I don't have to buy those expensive protectors. But I'll have to dust everything weekly, vacuum weekly, and keep up washing all the bedding. Not to mention keeping the rest of the house spotless. Totally doable with a four month old, right? hahaha And the dogs aren't allowed to sleep in bed with us anymore since I'm allergic to them too, which they're not thrilled about. We're going to hear a lot of whining in the weeks to come. *sigh* And I'll have to bathe them often. Luckly Brodie is supposedly hypoallergenic, but Zuul isn't and he has a lot of dander. Gah. What a pain in the butt! I can't believe how much stuff I'm allergic to!
Xanders dental work is on Wednesday, we go for a dental visit on Tuesday to go over stuff... I just want this week to be over with!
Virginia - Sorry Oliver had a sad birthday, hope the cake cheered him up. Yay for a good bakery near by.
With laundry I make my 14 year old do her own. Even just cleaning 3 people's laundry (Nat, DH and I) is a pain.
Lauren - That stinks about the allergies, guess it's good that you know now. I think the big one my DH was surprised by was dandlions, it explains why he has trouble cutting grass when he doesn't have a grass allergy.
Had a good weekend.
My mom asked me at about 3:00 pm on Friday, when we were dropping Natalie off, so we could see the movie, I thinkk she was happy to have someone at the house with her for the night.
Dana, DH and I saw Ironman, I thought it was a good fun movie.
Saturday's Apollo has school, he was a bit of a nut because one of other dogs set him off. He did mostly good even with the distraction. After his lessons we picked up Sadie and went to the dog park. I think it's great to let them socalize, Apollo still needs some work.
We have Seasons passes to Canada's Wonderland, since yesterday was opening day we went there. I spent the first hour and a half with Dana going a couple of big rides then spent two hours with Nat on kids stuff. After that we went to the mall near by and picked up some hockey gloves for Natalie, she needs them for Jr. Sports Club this week, she'll need them if she does any hockey, ball, floor or ice.
Amanda: glad you were able to see the movie. I've never had to venture the dog park since my pug gets a solid workout walking around the block (haha) but I'd be all about it if I had a bigger dog. Wonderland sounds like a blast!
Virginia: poor kid, glad he liked his cake at least!
Lauren: yikes, your allergies sound like my DH's (aside from food allergies which he's never been tested for). Huge bummer about the soy, that'll be a major pain until you get used to what it is and isn't in. *hugs* Cleaning with a mask on sounds super sexy, haha. Oh well, totally worth it if you start feeling better!!
Both of my kids picked up a cough over the weekend, presumably at a birthday party we went to. Last night, I got to rotate sleeping in each of their beds because they were up all night coughing/crying. Did I mention Dane has a TODDLER bed?? Good thing I'm short, but this huge belly makes it tough to fit! Praying I don't get it but doubt my odds are great after getting coughed on all night. They both had fevers when they got up this morning, but seem to be feeling somewhat better after some ibuprofen and liquids, at least not burning up anymore or looking like they were beyond miserable. I've been trying to give them warm milk with honey for their coughs but neither will touch it so I resorted to sucking sweet throat drops and water. Oh well, better than nothing I guess.
