Nolan Matthew is here!
On my phone, so this is a short update. He was born at 11:54pm after about 7 hours from beginning of induction. I ended up doing it without pain meds... holy crap, most intense experience of my life. I actually did request an epidural, knowing I had likely waited too late. He got it placed, but didn't even get the meds running in it. They tried to lay me back down because sitting was making my contractions come one on top of the other. And then instantly, my body was pushing whether I was ready or not. I was freaking screaming like a banshee... his head was out in one push and his body with another push in the same contraction... all the while, everyone was screaming at me to slow down. Yeah effing right! I screamed I can't and my doc just shrugged and said OK... and it was done, lol. No tears, just a minor skid mark.
Holy cow, that's awesome that he just flew on out! Bummer the epidural was too late. WTTW Nolan :) What a perfect name to fit in with his big brothers - love it!
ETA: What a peanut! No wonder you were so cute and tiny ;)
Wow, what a crazy birth! I have heard third babies are wild cards!! ;) Great job and WTTW, Nolan! Love his name!
ETA: sorry, got interrupted last time. Wow for going through induction without pain meds. I always cave. The natural pushing automatically is so cool, though, isn't it? I'm glad he came quickly and you didn't tear (so jealous of that). I also hope you got some sleep last night. Raymond and Oliver were both born in the middle of the night and I didn't get to sleep until the following night because the darn nurses were in so often. (well, and Raymond spent much of his first night in NICU). It sucked.
If you're BFing I hope it goes more smoothly that the last two times and that the nipple soreness doesn't get too bad.
Oh, and I can't wait for pictures! I love the name. I've considered Nolan, but never really pushed it because it's the name of my ex-sort-of-boyfriend (close friend who I "dated" but who turned out to be very gay and so I think we kissed once, ever. if that.) He's a great guy, though, and we're still sort of in touch. As in touch as I am with anyone (e-mails once a year. ha.)
Congrats Mary!!! He's precious!
Thanks everyone! Little man is almost a full day old, aww. :). First day has gone pretty well. He's a pretty peaceful little guy. He would mostly rather sleep than eat. I don't blame him.. last night was exhausting. I expect cluster feeding soon. I'm already experiencing discomfort and some skin breakdown in the same areas where they cracked with Calvin. I expected it BC he had basically done permanent damage.. there were still deep grooves where the cracks had been. I plan to just do the pumping thing again. I'm okay with it shockingly. I guess I've already had the chance to grieve the true breastfeeding experience twice over... I've already cried, lost sleep over it, and gone through excruciating pain with the other two and I've had time to move on. I'll enjoy this couple days of nursing him, but once we get back home, I'll be back to pumping. I've had a taste of that pain again and its not worth it to me when I know how successful I can be at pumping. Plus I have a new pump waiting on me at home. It arrived on his birthday and I never even got to come home that day, so I haven't seen it. I went right from work to doctor to hospital.
Speaking of that, I didn't get to see Sean and Calvin at all yesterday since I was up at 6 for work and never got to go home. I was really missing them by the time they came to visit today. They were both SO sweet with Nolan. They gave tons of hugs, kisses, and nuzzles. They were wild too, so I eventually said they needed to go home BC they were being too loud and crazy for this place. And Sean hurt himself here. He fell and hit his throat on the corner of the foldout couch thing. Scared the crap out of me but he was OK. He was funny... he tried to whisper most of the time, like he knew he should be quiet.
Anyway, just rambling. Little one is waking up. He probably wants to eat.
Congrats! Saw the pics on FB, he's a cutie.
Glad the birth went pretty quick.
With both my girls I planned it to go natural, Dana was, Natalie I took some Nitrous Oxide near the end the induced labour was too much pain for me to handle, but I was too far along for anything, she was born about 10 minutes after I asked for drugs.
My body "gets" the natural pushing thing, both girls came like that for me.
We got out of the hospital around 2 this afternoon, yay!! I was SO ready to get out of there. Nolan only lost 4oz from his birth weight, so that was good since he was a little small to begin with. :) He was low on the risk scale for jaundice, so that was nice... I had worried about it quite a bit with Calvin. The boys are in love with him. Lots of hugs/kisses/nuzzles... Both boys said, "I love you" to him when we got home. :) Sean mostly gets that he needs to be gentle, but he doesn't always think about whether he's close to the baby when he's playing. Calvin doesn't quite get the gentle thing yet, so we have to keep them from clobbering him. He's just the sweetest thing... He's so little. It's funny to me that I was pregnant with him 6 days longer than Calvin and he was still smaller than Calvin. I guess the ultrasounds were pretty accurate this time.

First day home:
Awwwwww! I'd have major baby fever if I weren't already pregnant. As it is... is it October yet? I want one, too!
GL getting the boys to be gentle with him. It can be so tough at first. At least they're happy to have him home!
Congrats!! I am glad it went well he is just beautiful! I have been been fb stalking for more family pics:)
