September Chat Thread

I see a lot of you posted in the August thread today, oops!

Katie, wow that does sound exhausting! Three days on your feet at 30 weeks does not sound like fun!

Mary, sorry about the crayon incident. Brodie ate some hot pink Play-doh last week, but luckily I didn't realize it til he came out. haha. He's usually sensitive to food, especially wheat, so I was surprised he didn't get sick!

Ash, sorry about the lack of sleep. Hope tonight goes better!

Karen, also sorry about the lack of sleep!

Laura, you have 9 months to prepare, you'll have it all worked out by then.

Oh geez, now I'm forgetting what everyone else wrote over the last few days...

AFM, been doing a mega cleanout of the basement so I can set up a playroom for Xander. I've decided I'm taking my living room back! haha. I'll let him keep like 3 or 4 toys up here for when I'm doing dishes, otherwise it's all going downstairs. He's become addicted to TV and I won't let him watch it all day, so he spends allllllllll day (when we're not outside) whining for me to put the TV on. And I won't. So he throws a tantrum. Ugh. But DH lets him watch TV all weekend, so he doesn't get it. If he's away from the TV then he doesn't think about it, so I'd rather his play room be TV free. It's coming along nicely! It'll probably take me another week or two to sort through boxes and organize, though. AT least junk day is coming up so we can get rid of tons of junk!!

Otherwise, AF just started today... That means in about TWO WEEKS I could be pregnant! Like holy wow, I can't believe it's time!!! YIPPIE!

Yay Lauren it's TTC month for us!! Yahoo Yay for AF! I should be getting her in about 14 days and then I will be joining you!! Biggrin

Katie - I hope you get some rest after that! That sounds terribly exhausting, and I'm not even pregnant! Lol

Ash - Hope tonight is better for you! Lack of sleep is awful!

Karen - Lady, you need to go back to sleep when it's 4am! Yikes!!

Laura - Sooooo freakin' excited for you!!! Biggrin You are gonna do GREAT!!

AFM - Busy, busy, busy!! I had a family shoot last night, a newborn shoot tonight, and then the wedding I'm shooting is on SUNDAY!! I, weirdly enough, am not stressing about it, though! Haha, I'm actually stressed that I'm NOT stressed! I feel a little too blase about it. Lol But I think part of me feels that if I overthink it, I'll screw up. So I'm trying not to plan every single second of my day and just shoot the emotion I see, which will be plenty! Smile So, here's to success! Hopefully I can pull it off!

Oh, and just to reiterate... I officially TTC in 2 WEEKS!! :woohoo: Which means, I will be adding a chart to my sig then. Biggrin

Holy crap it is Sept! Moving fast!

Lauren - I'm jealous of the basement! I kind of wish Evan was a tiny bit more interested in TV.....I can leave it on all day if he sits at it for 5 minutes it's a lot. I sometimes put it on PBS or Disney for a little in the morning b/c a few songs catch his interest but he really could careless if it's on.....DH can't sit in the living room w/o the TV on though so it's on whenever he is home! Sometimes like today when I have a ton of work to do I selfishly wish he'd watch something LOL

Jen - GL at the wedding very cool!

And YAY TO TTC for both of you!! whoohoo POAS time coming soon I LOVE IT!

Oops, I accidentally posted in the august thread AGAIN. lol...

Just wanted to say hi and...

Grenet... I can't believe your LOs are almost 11 months already!!!

ETA: I just copied this from the other thread since I posted there by mistake...
Wow, I need a do-over for yesterday. Horrible day, for the most part. We took Peanut to an emergency vet bc ours couldn't get us in till 11am today. So they did xrays, and nothing was stuck in there, but they said they could see some MASSIVE diarrhea ahead. They said he was probably already dehydrated from all the vomiting, and would continue dehydrating when the diarrhea hit. If we brought him home, we'd have to do subQ fluids (didn't even know you could rehydrate subQ... seems like you'd have to do multiple injections to get enough fluid into them?)... So anyway, we opted to leave him there so they could do IV's and take care of the diarrhea. I had to leave straight from there. I was supposed to be at work at 2pm, but told my mgr that I'd be in by 4 when he had to leave. I left with plenty of time to be there by 4... But then my commute to work took almost TWO HOURS when I got stopped in traffic. I came up about 10-15 minutes after a fatal accident on the highway and they had the highway shut down. I eventually got past, and the accident looked horrific. This poor 62-yr-old woman's car was just flat. There was a big flat-bed truck up on its side. The stories I'm reading now said that traffic was stopped (rush hr) and she was sitting there in traffic and the flat-bed truck didn't stop and rear-ended her. Soooo scary. So anyway, I didn't get to work until probably 5:15. My poor mgr had to stay there and wait on me when he was supposed to be out at 4. I felt sooooooo bad. Ugh. I guess I'll just owe him one. I got home after work last night and Sean came to the door yelling "Peanut!" He thought I had the dog with me, and I didn't, of course... It was soooooo sad.

Got a call from the vet this morning that Peanut is doing well, but had profuse diarrhea last night and is still on IV, nothing by mouth. Her plan for the day is to stop the IV and start offering small amounts of water/food, and hopefully he can come home by the end of the day. We'll see...

Yaaaayyyyy! My BFF from high school (who I haven't seen in years, but keep up with on fb) sent me a message at midnight to say she's at the hospital and they're keeping her, but she's only 1cm. She didn't say why they were keeping her if she's only 1cm, so I'm not sure if something else is going on. At my hospital, they'd make you walk around for an hour and see if there was any progress, unless something else was going on. But... She is like 3 days past her EDD, so maybe they just decided to go for it since baby is well-baked already.. Either way, it's baby day, woohoo! Baby fever, whaaaaat??! Wink

ETA - She just messaged me back a couple minutes ago saying they started pitocin about 40 minutes ago. She said her BP was slightly elevated and she was having so much bleeding that they couldn't tell if her fluid was leaking, so they kept her, especially since she's already past due. Baby day! I'll bet her DH is a wreck... He lost his last wife in childbirth with his second son (who is a healthy pre-teen now).

Laura - Don't feel bad, I loved growing up with a sister so close in age, we were 18 months apart and I had a best friend in her for many years. That did change as we got older because our personalities are so different, but we still do have a strong bond.

Ashley - I know in Canada the infant/toddler passports are a minimal fee ($25), I know its still a hasstle but I like the security they bring.

Mary - Sadie gets ill at the drop of a hat, my vet can't find the source so we just have to deal with it when it crops up, I think she just has a really sensitive stomach. Hope peanut is feeling well soon.

Lauren - Glad you got Xander his on space, my house has been invaded by toddler toys.
Yay for the possibility of being pregnant in 2 weeks, keeping everything crossed for you.

Jen - Great to hear that you are feeling not so stressed about the photo shoots.
Yay for TTC, hope things go quick for you.

Greda - Good to hear an update, sounds like everyone is doing pretty well. How are you feeling taking care of 3 young kids?

*AFM*

DH got back from his work trip early, came home Friday night instead of Saturday morning. Biggrin

Hockey season has started again, Dana's team had power skating all week and then practices in the evening, she's definatley rusty, going to have to work hard get her self back in game shape.

Normally Natalie's Montissori school keeps the children with their teachers but both of Natalie's teachers are moving on to something new so she is going to be getting a new teacher in the fall. When asked by the school corrdinator I requested one of the teachers Mrs C. because I really like her she is good and organized. The coordinator (who is an unorganized mess) told me that teacher would be upstair which has inconvenient access to washrooms so we both agreed it best to put he downstairs with another teacher Mrs B. I missed the orientation last week because DH was out of town so I didn't get any information, but on Friday when I picked Natalie up from thier summer came I find out that Mrs C. is on the main floor, now I'm wondering what is going on, I'm a little upset that I was told Mrs C. was going to be upstairs and is downstairs, I like all the teachers but Mrs C. is my favourite from my experiance with the school. The teachers and the school itself is excellent, but the coordinator is just horrible at her job, guess I'll see what's really going on on Wednesday.

I just fixed up the PAFG list, and just realized that only 1 baby in our group here left to be born this year, where has the time gone?

http://www.pregnancy.org/bulletinboards/showthread.php?t=488252

Anyway if there are any corrections or new info to add just post in that thread.

pico83 (not verified)

Jen and Lauren - Good luck! I can't wait to see some more BFPs.

Amanda - GL with the teacher issues

Mary - I hope peanut gets better quickly and your friend has a quick, easy labor!

Grenet - almost a year already? wow.

hi, everyone else!

AFM: vacation was great, but crazy with the 3 kids. I spent most of the week unable to imagine ever having more kids because it was so overwhelming. It's easier being home where things are babyproof. Whew. of course, seeing Laura's BFP makes me wish I could see one of my own, soon. Maybe in a few years. Raymond's school starts in a couple days and Alex and I will be taking a class together this year, too! I can't believe it's getting to be fall again already.

pico83 (not verified)

Mary - just read Sean's 6m stats. That's my guess for where Oliver will be at his 4m appointment this week.

So... 2 close together isn't too bad. I felt like I missed out on Raymond from 12-14m because of the m/s, but it worked out fine. with 3 close together I feel like Alex really misses out. Raymond doesn't nap, so I get time with him while the others nap, and I get time with Oliver while the others play together, but I rarely get time with just Alex. Since I was also middle of 3 growing up I feel terrible about it. I'm glad I've got a class scheduled with him this fall. I think that's one of the main reasons I want to wait a bit for #4. I want to make sure I can devote enough 1 on 1 time to each kid and right now I'm not managing it.

My friend's last fb post was about 3 hours ago. She was loving her epidural and said she should be pushing soon... So I'm guessing he's here by now, but no updates yet, aaaaaggghhhh!!

ETA: She FINALLY posted that he was born at 7:04 weighing 8lb8oz (Same as Sean weighed!). Said she did have some complications, but they're both okay. I was getting nervous!!

Lauren - Hooray for TTCing! Can't wait to stalk your chart! Join me in May! Wink

Jen - I hope that you'll be joining me in May! I'll be stalking you too! Biggrin

Mary - I'm glad that Peanut is home from the animal hospital! Poor dog! I saw on FB that your friend had her baby! Yahoo That's so exciting!

Amanda - That coordinator seems out of sorts! I hope that Natalie will get the teacher that you want! And hooray for DH coming home early!

Grenet - It seems like your little ones were JUST born. It's unreal how fast the babies grow up. They are precious!

Virginia - Sorry to hear that vacation was a bit overwhelming. What type of class will you be taking with Alex?

AFM - Saturday night DH and I (with Claire!) went out to eat to celebrate baby #2! We had a nice meal with lots of leftovers! Plus dessert! Yummy!

Today we went to my parents' house and shared the news with my Mamaw. I was holding Claire and said, "Mamaw, Claire wants you to know that she's gonna be a big sister!" My Mamaw's face went blank and she turned around and said, "David, please walk me to a chair, I think I'm about to faint." Then her legs started wobbling. That lasted about 1 minute (seemed a LOT longer at the moment) and then Mamaw started giggling. She's so silly that she faked it all! Scared me half to death! ROFL She's excited but can't believe it's so soon!

Laura - how did your DH take the news?

Alex and I are taking a toddler art and music class. Smile

ROFL That's too funny!!! I love it.

My friend who had her baby last night finally posted some pics and this game (pick which letters happened during her labor... answer is K, all of the above):

A) Stalling out at 1 whole cm
Dirol Pitocin is a hell of a drug (Not in a good way either)
C) Meconium in the fluid
D) Epidurals are your friend
E) Baby facing wrong direction in the middle of labor
F) Having to stop pushing for half an hour so loads of vomit could be cleaned up
G) Forceps dlivery
H) 2nd degree episiomity (don't look it up if you don't know...)
I) Retained placenta and a post-partum trip to the operating room to rectify that
J) Having to post-pone the OR proceedings because of vomit, round 2
K) All of the above

Doesn't exactly sound ideal, but I'm glad they're all okay!!

Laura - too funny! I bet everyone is/will be shocked but it's so exciting!!

Virginia - sounds like fun!

Mary - oh jeez her poor husband must never want to consider another baby again I can't imagine all that AFTER losing a wife in child birth. Poor guy probably needed a Xanax. Not that it sounds so great for your friend either!

It's been a nice weekend here. Busy though. We went to DH's parent's Sat for the day. It was HOT and we were outside. Then yesterday we had dinner with my fam. My sis and her fiance spent the night here last night and we had bfast with my mom this morning. Then did nothing all day to make up or the busy few days Smile Back to the grind tomorrow!

Mary - HOLY COW!!! Your poor friend!

Virginia - DH was in a bit of shock/denial for a few hours. He didn't believe my first BFP because it was so light. My CP back in 08 has him quite skeptical of faint lines. He just couldn't believe that it was real until the line was darker, so I POAS around 9:30 that same night and it was much clearer. He believed it then! Smile The next day he sent me a link to a Google Doc that we created when I was pregnant with Claire... it's full of names and we use it to rate the ones we like, etc... So he's very excited!

Katie - Sounds like you've had a busy weekend! Glad you were able to rest up today!

AFM - We went looking at houses this afternoon! Yahoo So exciting, but exhausting too! We found 2 that we really like a lot! We aren't ready to set up a contract until we look at more, but it's neat that this whole process is FINALLY getting started!

Laura - Yay for house hunting!! I LOVED it... I just loved going in all the different houses and looking at them. I hope we can sell this house sometime in the not-horribly-far future. I want to move a little further into the country (DH and I both grew up in the boonies, so I think we're both drawn there a bit, even though we like the conveniences of living in a city). I think we'll try to move somewhere intermediate, but just far enough out of town that things like LOUD BARS don't disturb our sleep. Wink That's *someday* though... No plans any time soon. Anyway, enjoy!!

Katie - Sounds like a good weekend. Boooo for back to the grind. I had to work all weekend (today was day 8 of 9). The weekend was nice and slooooow though, so it was easy money, if nothing else. Smile

AFM - Tomorrow is the last day of my loooong week, and then I have 6 days off. Yahoo We're taking Sean to ride Thomas the Train on Friday, DH and I have eye exams on Wednesday (I'm desperate for new contacts), and I want to go outlet shopping one day. The huge outlet mall around here has a ton of baby stores... Carters, OshKosh, Gymboree, etc. Plus I want some new things for myself since Fall is coming... It was cool today, 60's, dreary... It was a welcomed change though. I LOVE this time of year!!

ETA: I forgot, I wanted to share a pic. I loved this one because they were both being so smiley and sweet.

OMG! I think Cal might FINALLY be starting to STTN!! Yahoo For the last week or two, he hasn't been interested in eating when he wakes up at night. Then for the last two nights, he has essentially STTN. Last night, I don't think he woke at all. The night before, I think he woke and fussed around for a few minutes, but went right back to sleep. FINALLY!! We just started solids recently, so I'm thinking that can't be a coincidence.

pico83 (not verified)

Love the pic, Mary! Sorry your friend's labor was so rough. How's that baby fever treating you? Mine is on the upswing again.

Katie - yay for a day off!

Laura - glad DH took it well! I met a woman at the library today who made me think of you. She has two boys: 21m and 5m (16m apart!) she said the second was a surprise while BFing the first... and that it took them fertility meds to get the first. So, you're not alone! It was funny to hear almost the same story from someone else so soon after your BFP, so I told he a little of your story. She wanted to tell you that it's tough at times, especially at first, but it's worth it, especially getting to avoid the fertility issues the second time around. Wink

AFM: Raymond had a great day at school! Poor Alex, we decided we're not sending him until next year and when Raymond left he cried and said "No Raymond school! Raymond come back! Alex school!" He missed Raymond so much all morning and was super excited when we picked him up. Alex speech is getting more and more amazing. The other day I told DH "We need to get Alex down for his nap" and Alex came over to me and said "No, I don't want to take a nap!"
I'm exhausted today and felt pretty nauseous this morning. I'm betting it's Oliver's sleep getting crappy again (up almost every hour last night, ravenous every time). I'm 99% sure I'm not fertile yet. But, if the nausea gets a heck of a lot worse over the next week I'll know the test, huh?

A few decent nights of sleep from Cal, and mine is back on the upswing too (it didn't help that my friend just had a baby and I've been seeing all the sweet newborn pics online, hahaha)... And anyway, it wasn't THAT great of sleep. Just better. I'm 99% sure I'm not fertile yet either, but I was considering buying some cheapo HPT's online just to have around since we're still not taking any measures to prevent pregnancy. I'm thinking of cutting out my pump session during work here pretty soon, which would take me down to three times a day. I don't think I had my first AF with Sean until I cut down to pumping two times a day, so I would guess that I've still got a while before I'm fertile again. I just don't really need to pump four times a day anymore. I've got to have well over 2000 ounces in the freezer by now, and I'm still freezing 100-115 ounces every 7 to 10 days. I don't really need to outpace him by that much. But for the time being, I do enjoy not having AF, so maybe I'll just keep it up. Maybe I'll cut out the work session in a couple more months, like 8 months. I dunno.

I'm not in a hurry to get pregnant again since it will likely be our last. DH and I both toy with the notion of having 4, but in reality, I think we'll be done after 3. I can't fathom the thought of paying for college for 4 kids. We'll see. I just don't want to stretch ourselves too thin, both with money and the amount of attention we can give to each of them. But at the same time, I've heard complaints from so many people who were the "middle child" of 3 that they never got any attention, and 4 seems better balanced... So I dunno. It's still up in the air, but definitely not 5, hahaha. That's where I draw the line!!

pico83 (not verified)

Mary, you should totally keep pumping to delay fertility... and look into donating any extra you have. I'm kind of toying with doing that. But I also kind of doubt pumping works for me like BFing does. When I was away from Oliver for a day during my mom's surgery, I pumped 3x and got 23.5oz. He took 3 bottles totally 13oz (he doesn't like bottles all that much). The next day I suddenly felt really fertile TMIsore ovaries, EWCM, open cervix, but since I was BFing again it faded as quickly as it came.

Laura - yay for houses! Are you looking to rent or buy? I hate moving but having a house is wonderful Smile I had fun in NYC with my sister but living in a small apartment would make me nuts haha I've gotten used to space!

Mary - LOVE the pic and yay for 6 days off!! WHOOHOO! Sounds like you have some fun things planned too! YAY for STTN too! Oh how I'm not looking forward to disrupted sleep....I think if babies STTN I'd have 100 but that part of the whole NB thing isn't my favorite

Virginia - Aww Alex sounds so sweet! You're so funny with baby fever!

AFM - Nothing too exciting. Trying to decide if we should pick up 2 Radian car seats for the new baby....Evan really likes his and they are reduced (someone posted on my BB that they are changing their name/logo so are reducing prices to sell). We'll need 2 eventually....we'll use the infant carrier for a while though. Decisions....

I'm kind of bummed. There is one other gal in my dept and we always room together at the corporate event next week. Well my "trainee" is coming and they roomed me with her Sad I was looking forward to rooming with Liz, we have fun. I have NOTHING in common with the trainee gal. She's nice don't get me wrong I have no issue with her but Liz and I have a lot in common and it's a fun 3 days of chatting and catching up on all the topics we don't have time at work to chat about. Alicia won't be bad or anything but we'll just coexist. Darn. On the bright side due to a 2 week vaca for her and some other things I have like 3 weeks left with her before I leave. I'm not a huge fan of a tag along all day. She tries hard but training isn't my gig.

Virginia - Crazy how similar that lady's story was to mine! I can't even comprehend how it'll be with 2, let alone with them being so close together!

Mary - I agree with Virginia! Keep on pumping! I donated my extra milk for a while, you should really look into it!

Katie - I'd be bummed about not rooming with my friend too! Are you headed to anywhere exciting?

AFM - I had my 2nd beta this afternoon. My nurse will call tomorrow morning with results! My original u/s appointment was scheduled for the 28th, but after my blood work I asked the front desk if I could reschedule for sooner. Now I'm going on the 22nd! Only 2 weeks and 2 days away! Yahoo

Just for fun, I POAS this morning...

pico83 (not verified)

Crazy how similar your timing is to mine with Oliver! I got my BFP 10dpo on Aug 23rd, was due around May 5th, and had my first u/s Sept 22/23. Lol It'll make it extra fun to watch your progress.

Lol the "baby fever" is really just BFP fever. I don't really want to be pregnant again for a while and I'm definitely not ready for another baby! We'd need a bigger home and bigger car and I'd need 2 more arms attached.

Man, it's amazing how quickly I fall behind! hahaha...

Virginia, Alex is so sweet missing his big brother! How nice that the two of you are taking a class together, that should be fun.

Laura, funny story about your Mawmaw. lol.

Katie, sorry you don't get to bunk with your friend. Too bad they never ASKED you who you wanted to stay with... What do they think you're going to be training that girl in your hotel room or something? haha.

Amanda, hockey season again!? Geez, this year has flown by! And wow, you do such an amazing job with our TTC/TOC/etc. list! Thanks for keeping up with it!

Mary, sounds like a scary accident. I hate seeing accidents! Like driving doesn't freak me out enough as it is...

AFM, still working on the basement. The worst of it is done, though. I finally got DH to sort through all his junk and he easily threw out 75% of it! So we've been holding onto a bunch of stuff he didn't even want for 7 freakin' years! MEN! Anyway, I packed everything up nicely and organized it all, so there'll be plenty of room for a playroom once junk day comes. It's not til the 23rd, so we have a huge heap of junk in the basement til then... I should be able to move it all to the other end of the basement so that I can set up the playroom now, though. I'm afraid if I don't do it now and I do actually get pregnant in a few weeks that I'll be too tired to do it and it'll never get done. Plus there's a lot of hauling to do and I don't like doing that kind of stuff while pregnant and I'll NEVER get DH to do it! haha.

The in-laws came for the weekend, so that was nice. They brought the easel I bought for Xander a few months ago (but couldn't fit in the car), so he's been having a blast playing with that. One side is a chalk board and he thinks it's the coolest thing ever! It also has a dry erase board, but I'm not letting him play with that side til he's a little older. Only washable markers for this boy! He's messy. So I bought a huge roll of paper that you can attach to the inside and it wraps over the top of the easel over the markerboard, then he can color with his washable markers, crayons, or paint. Very cool!! I got it at Ikea and it was super cheap - I highly recommend it!

My baby fever is so through the roof it's insane! It's funny how I barely thought about it til AF started and I knew this was the month we TTC! I can't wait to get pregnant again! (never thought I'd say that, hahaha)

and I'd need 2 more arms attached.

I feel like I need this already!! I don't have them both in public by myself very often at all because DH is a SAHD, so he always just comes with me. But today we had our eye exams, and just trying to keep Sean under control while Cal sat in his car seat thingie during DH's exam was a feat, LOL. I don't know what I'll do once they're both running around! Can't even imagine adding more!

Lauren - Yaaaay for TTC this month! I hope it happens fast! I found a bag of cheapo OPK's under the sink in the bathroom... I was going to try to avoid OPK's the next time we TTC and have more of a laid-back JLIH style, but I can't let them go to waste, right? Hah!

Katie - Booo for not getting to room with your friend at the work thing. I'm glad I don't have to travel a lot for work...
Funny story - I only had to go overnight once and it was like 4 days in Chicago when I was fresh out of school.. sort of a party/conference for new grads. It was with CVS. I had been an intern with them and planned to work for them. It was actually at that conference that I decided to find a different employer, because some things rubbed me the wrong way. But anyway, the conference as a whole was SO fun. I felt a bit awkward at first because I had just moved from Ohio and I didn't know ANYONE. But everyone was really nice, and they fed us a LIMITLESS amount of alcohol, LOL. I remember being surprised by that. But... Here's the funny part. Everyone was able to practice self-control for the most part with the alcohol... No one wants to be the douche to get too drunk at the work function, right? Except for one of the top dogs!! He was one of the waaaay higher up guys... TOTALLY drank too much and kept being loud to the point that other people staying at the hotel complained and they threatened to remove him (LOL)... Anyway, at one point, I was in an elevator with him and several other people, and he asked me if I wanted to "go to his room and make some mistakes" or something like that. So of course, that was the talk of the rest of the thing... The married higher-up gets too drunk and makes passes at the new pharmacist (ME), lol. At least HE was the one that looked like the ***, and not me. Wink

Virginia - Ahh! That's neat! I love following the January 2012 board because it brings back memories! Smile

Lauren - Hooray for getting DH to get rid of all his junk! Ahh, I'm ready for you to start OPKs! So eager to see your BFP!

Mary - Oh my! I bet you were so embarrassed when that higher up dude made a pass at you! Yikes!!!

BETA UPDATE!!!

Beta #1 - 30 (11dpo)
Beta #2 2,039 (18dpo)

The nurse mentioned the possibility of twins. Yahoo  Also, I posted the same thing on the May board and someone from April due with twins commented that her numbers were similar at 18dpo! Hold cow. These next 2 weeks cannot go by fast enough.

Laura - Yahoo for great betas! Wouldn't that be so crazy to go from trouble conceiving the first to twins in no time with the second?? Heck, even if you don't have twins, it sounds like you've at least got one very healthy sticky bean in there! Yaaayyyy!!!

And yeah... That elevator ride was awkward to say the least, lol. Note to self: Don't get drunk at work functions, LOL.

ETA: It has begun. Sean doesn't want to share toys with Cal. If Cal is playing with a toy (ANY toy), Sean will take it away and call him "bad baby". OMG. So I have to repeatedly tell him that the baby is not bad, and I've started making him pick up whatever he has taken from the baby and make him personally give it back to him. I'm just going to do that every single time, and I assume he'll eventually get the point. Fun fun... Oh and I forgot... Sometimes, he'll take away whatever fun toy Calvin has and replace it with a boring toy... Like a plain plastic ring from the stacking ring set or something. Jeez...

Laura - WAHOO! That's fantastic news! Twins or one very sticky bean either way such a good feeling! I'm so excited for you Smile

Mary - Too funny I'm pretty sure Evan isn't going to be good at sharing off the bat....he's a bit spoiled!

UGH. So last night around 7:30 we realized 2 of our smaller dogs managed to find a spot at the fence and get under. We have our fence chicken wired to the ground to prevent that but with all the rain the ground must have been really soft and the wire was easily pulled up. And it's fall and the critters get active so the dogs tend to get more interested in the scents outside the fence. Anyway we realized Joni and Chloe were gone -- mind you they couldn't have been gone more than 10 minutes the dogs are never outside when we're not home and I had JUST let them out after we ate dinner and gone to do a few things before letting them back in. Chloe came home after about 5 minutes, she hates everyone but us but Joni wasn't with her Sad I wasn't so worried about them together knowing Chloe would never leave too far but Joni has been gone all night. UGH. I've driven around, walked around, called, and this afternoon I'll put out fliers I called animal control and the sheriff. DH will tromp through the woods tonight, it was too dark last night and I can't really do it today with Evan. I'm so worried. Joni is sweeeeet My guess is she heard a dog out there somewhere and went to visit and Chloe said screw that and came home. I keep looking out my window expecting her!

Katie - Sorry to hear the dog got loose! I hope she finds her way home. I'm always worried Peanut will get out. He has managed to a couple times, but thankfully, we never leave him outside alone for long and we noticed within minutes and got him back. One time was when I was huuuuge pregnant with Sean, and my neighbors let us know he was loose and helped us get him. I can remember my neighbor laughing at me having to chase the dog when I was due in just a few days.

People on my fb from further east have been posting a ton of crazy pics of flooding. Do you have it bad there?

Actually we do have flooding going on. The one county is in a state of emergency, a bunch of the schools either didn't open today or opened yesterday and closed today. The roads are a mess. A town about 10 minutes away evacuated AGAIN. The poor people just got back in. It's very sad. And worse bc no one here has flood insurance this is a "once in a hundred years" event. So unless the gov't helps these people will have lost EVERYTHING - entire crops, homes, everything. It's so sad. The pictures are heartbreaking. We don't live anywhere near the creeks or rivers so my home is fine besides the soft soil and MIA dog.

Wow, that's crazy. I know she hasn't posted here in a while, but I'm sure several of you remember Corinne (her screen name was like "platinumXpixey" or something close to that)... Anyway, I guess it's really bad near her, and she has been posting pics on fb all day, houses floating away, businesses with water literally like halfway up the doors, just utter insanity.

That's what it's like in parts near me. An entire gas station/mini mart was washed away, businesses ruined etc etc And people were just starting to clean up when it rained all day yesterday and bam everything is a mess again. An hour south they've had national guard on duty since Irene to keep things orderly and ensure safety b/c so many people were essentially trapped. And then from all I hear VT is even worse with people having been rescued by chopper b/c they were stranded.

It's wild in just over a week we had an earth quake, tropical storm that caused major flooding and a tornado. Sun night a tornado touched down about 5 minutes from me the national weather service sent people to confirm. The trees where it hit are incredible, giant old oaks just snapped in 1/2 like sticks!

Besides having to find long alternate routes to work we've had no issues. Oh one day w/o cable and internet LOL Tragic.

We have flooding here! We're like, completely washed out. Hershey, which is about 40 minutes from here, is completely shut down and under water. Hersheypark is completely flooded! It's insane the pictures I keep seeing on FB from my friends over that way. All the schools are closed down today, there is a water waste treatment plant totally submerged that isn't supposed to be back online for another WEEK. To top it all off? It's.still.raining.

Laura - Yahoo for such awesome betas! How AMAZING would twins be?! Can't wait to find out! Oh, and I won't be joining you in May! Earliest EDD I will have if I get pregnant the first try is late June. Sorry! Wink

Katie - Aw, I hope you find your MIA doggie!! Glad the flooding isn't too severe where you are!

Mary - Poor Cal! One of these days, when he's big enough, he'll be fighting back. Wink I hope you can get Sean to share soon, though!

Lauren - Can't wait to see some blazing positive OPK's from you, and then a blazing positive HPT two weeks later!! Biggrin I get AF a week from today!

Virginia - That is so cool you and Alex are taking a class together! That should be a ton of fun!

AFM - Not a lot going on here! Just at the office this week and part of next covering while my coworker is on her honeymoon. My mom is in town watching Owen for us, which is nice! But I felt bad, because Monday afternoon he came down with a cold! Boo. It's not a bad one, just a little cough and runny nose and super low grade fever, but enough to make him crabby at night for bed. He's totally on the mend though, so that's nice! So I guess these last 5 days (yes, 5 DAYS) of rain have come at a good time.

Speaking of rain, we've gotten 10" since Sunday night. I really am starting to think I might wash away!

pico83 (not verified)

we're in an area which doesn't flood (whew) but taking Oliver to his appointment today I passed some streams and they were full. I'll have to see if my parents have pics to share. it always floods near them (they're on a hill, luckily).

I have the keep the personals to a limit since it's near dinner time, but Laura! awesome betas. GL! You must be going nuts waiting for that u/s. I'm pretty sure my 18dpo test looked a lot like that... I'll see if I can find a pic for you.

so, my updates
1. DH hasn't gotten home before 10pm this week. ugh.
2. Oliver is 18lbs 6.5oz (95th), 26.5" (90th), and has a pretty average head. So, he's lighter than Raymond and Alex were (19lbs and 20lbs) but the same length. I have tall boys.
3. It's time. To potty train, that is. Today when my ILs were babysitting he asked to use the potty. Then he woke up dry after his nap. Oh my. I won't have a good day for a week, unless DH is able to give me a hand this weekend.

pico83 (not verified)

okay, mine with Oliver was a little lighter still at 18dpo (darker line is test)

I can't wait to find out if you got twins! Oh my, that would be a lot of little babies!

BTW, I have a really, really easy way to make some inexpensive training pants if anyone is close to PTing and has a little time. (seriously, if you can sew a straight line and have 10-15 minutes you can make them).

Laura, GREAT numbers! Eek! One or two, that's amazing news!

Virginia, GL finding time to potty train! Sorry your DH has been working so late...

Katie, I hope your doggie comes home soon! It's so scary having a dog take off. Luckily every time it's happened to us they've come home fairly soon, so I can't imagine a whole day going by!

Mary, crazy story about your first work party! I had a drunk boss hit on me at a wine tasting once IN FRONT OF my husband! hahaha! My DH started laughing. I was a little po'd at him, though, because my boss put his arm around me and everything and rubbed my side - I'm sorry, someone does that to your wife you DO something about it! Don't just stand there and laugh like it's the funniest thing ever. But that's just my DH...

Jen, sorry Owen got a cold. I'm not looking forward to cold's again! At least Xander has sort of figured out how to blow his nose, but I don't know if he'll actually do it while he's sick or if he'll just whine til I suck it out.

AFM, my DH is so clueless sometimes. lol. Two days ago he's commenting on having another LO running around soon, and then yesterday he's asking me to go to a beer festival in November. I kind of stared at him for a minute and he was like "what?" and I said "don't you think it'd be a little difficult for me to go to a beer festival in November?" and he's like "no, why?" Seriously, he is an extremely smart guy and handles a lot of stuff at work - yet he comes home and shuts off his brain. I reminded him we were going to be TTC in less than two weeks and he did that stupid laugh and was like "oh yeah." I think he just really wants to go to the beer festival, but it's a fancy-pants one with barrel aged beer and costs quite a bit of money to go to, so he thinks the only way he can go is if I go, otherwise he'll feel guilty. But I told him just to go, his best friend is going and I'm totally fine with him going without me. He just always feels guilty when he does stuff since I haven't been able to do anything like that since getting pregnant with Xander and he does a few times a year. He seems to think this upsets me, but it doesn't. Xander is my child, I have no problem staying home alone with him for a few days or a week (when he travels for work). It's not like I'm a babysitter that he's inconveniencing. haha.

CD7 today. Getting close! *gulp*

Lauren - well it's sweet that he cares.....but ya November might not work out for a beer fest for you Smile Though a beer fest does sound fun lol

Virginia - ugh those hours for your DH are brutal. I wonder if his intense work schedule is part of why he worries about having a lot of kids? It has to be hard for him to have so little time to divide between the boys already. I know I feel that way working just 3 relatively normal days a week. Oliver is too cute!!

Still no word on my dog Joni. Ugh. I put fliers in a bunch of places yesterday today I'll call some vets etc for good measure. It's a very hopeless feeling but if you don't have any sightings you can't even really look for the dog. I walk and drive the road behind us but we don't live in a neighborhood per say it's not like you can walk the block here. So frustrating.....sigh....

Katie - I hope your dog Joni finds her way home.

Virginia - All your kids seem like big boys, Natalie is still around the 25 lb mark at over 2 & 1/2, she is healthy and active so its not a concern. Good luck with the PTing.

Lauren - I think all men can be clueless at points, my DH does stuff like that too.

*AFM*

Our kitten is growing like crazy, the vet said he is guessing he'll be 20 lbs by the time he is full sized.
Here is a picture comparing him at 7 months (left) to my 9 year old cat (right).

Dana is back at school and enjoying it. She had her first pre-season game in hockey and DH tells me she did pretty well.

Natalie's school has really ticked me off, they called 2 weeks prior to the start of the year asking for my input, what teacher I wanted and classroom location. I couldn't get the teacher I wanted on the main floor (ground level) so I agreed that it best to put her with a different teacher on the main floor. I go in on Wednesday (her first day) to find out not only does she not have the teacher I requested she is also on the upper floor. I'm quite upset about it, I have to write a letter about it. My issue now is I don't want to seperate her from her friends, but I really don't want her on the upper floor. To add fuel to my fire about this, the teacher I did request is on the main floor. :firemad: Thing is the teachers at the school are WONDERFUL, I just don't think the coordinator is very bright and makes stuipd decisions, who puts a bunch of 2 & 1/2 year olds on the top floor of a building with the only method of getting down is by fairly steep stairs?

Natalie is doing well, mostly potty trained, might have an accident once ever couple of weeks. He speech and comprehension is absolutely amazing for her age. She also seems to have a great deal of compassion and empathy, she is really good person, just like her sister, makes me proud of them both.

Natalie absolutely loves our animals, give them hugs on a regular basis, thankfully all our animals are tolerent of being mauled. She's learned to read when Silver is cranky so that she doesn't get swatted, though Silver is very good at warning.

Our weather hasn't been nearly as crazy that you ladies have been getting. Couple of tornados in cities in my province but nothing close to me, lots of thunderstoms and varying weather, hot, dry and sunny one day, constant rain the next.

Joni is home!!!!!! WAHOOOOOOO!!!!!!! Yesterday we walked a 3-4 mile loop and left fliers. This morning a woman called that she spotted Joni coming out of the woods across the street from her home (2 streets behind ours). DH went over with Evan in the ergo and walked (I was at a dog adoption event ) but had no luck. She is really my dog. So I went over as soon as I went home left DH and Evan at home and I walked the woods for about an hour. There were lots of paths apparently hunters etc can use those woods with permission in season. So I followed paths and called and called. And then there she was looking at me then running at me Smile WAHOO! She's dirty and dire need of grooming but home no damage no injury safe and sound! Such relief! And I placed 2 foster dogs at the adoption event! Whether they stay placed is a different story but for tonight all is very good!

Katie - YAY for getting your dog back!! Biggrin Glad everything ended well with that.

Amanda - I'm jealous that Natalie is mostly potty trained, hahaha. I'm pretty sure Sean never will be. Oh well... One of these days, right??

AFM - Today was day 5 of 6 off work. It has been wonderful... I wish I could have 6 days off work every week, LOL. We took Sean to ride Thomas the Train on Friday, spent yesterday visiting my parents, had our eye exams one day, did some shopping one day... Today was our lazy day (nice! the weather has been rainy, but warm... we've had the windows open and it just feels nice). I finished reading The Help... Good book, not sure I LOVED the ending, but I didn't hate it by any means. Tomorrow, not sure what we'll do... Probably just something boring like going to the grocery store, although I'd love to go outlet shopping. Wink Then back to work, but only 4 days. I'm already planning my vacation days for next year... We have to request them in October each year and it always catches me off-guard. So this year, I'm going in prepared. My goal is to never work my babies' birthdays... Next year, Sean's birthday falls during my 3-day weekend, but Cal's birthday is on like a Tuesday, so I'll need to request it off. I should have 5 days off for Thanksgiving weekend, which is sweet... But I only get Christmas day off, so not much time at all for Christmas. Boo! I'm excited because I get an extra week of vacation starting next year. Woohoo!

Yay for planning vacation days! I was thinking about if/where we'd go this summer if we decide to go away again. Cape Cod was fun this year but I'd like perhaps a bit more non-beach things to do along with beach options. We don't want to have to fly. Of course we should probably wait and be sure baby #2 rides as well as Evan does Smile

Sounds like nice days off! I have to go away for work the next 3 days. Ugh. Not excited. Not even a little. Can't wait to have it OVER

pico83 (not verified)

Katie - glad your dog is back

Amanda - adorable kitten!

Mary - glad you've been having fun.

AFM: I'm so excited! The was a house for sale on our street and I just met the couple who bought it. She's a SAHM with an 8m girl. I volunteered myself as company for walks, playdates (with Oliver, I guess) or whatever else. Also, Raymond's really starting to interact with other kids. He finally converses with them. And he's been having such fun with the neighbors' daughter. She's exactly a year older, but they're the same height. Lol They almost look like fraternal twins.
I think DH tried to pack a week's worth of fun with the kids into 2 days. Whew. At least he got the weekend off. And I really, really need to PT Alex soon. Last night he asked to pee in the potty... and did! Although... he doesn't seem to mind the diapers, so I bet a few more days will be okay. It'll be a lot easier once I can get some help with the other boys.

I spoke too soon about having fun on my days off. Around 7 or 7:30 last night, Cal started insane vomiting, like nonstop until he had nothing left, then dry-heaved. I panicked a little and we decided to take him to the ER at children's hospital. His demeanor was weird... He was just very listless and it just freaked me out. And I was scared about dehydration. He started pooping HUGE poops too... I'm not really sure if you'd call it diarrhea (not sure what constitutes diarrhea when their poo is already so liquid). But anyway 4 huge poops in a few hours... They did test one for blood, thankfully found none. They did xrays of his belly... Said something looked abnormal, but didn't say what for the longest time. We moved our way up the ranks from nurse practitioner to resident, then finally the attending physician came in. No one before him had told us what they thought the "abnormal" on the xray could be. He came and told us that Cal is the right age for a condition called intussusception. The doctor saw my face react, apparently... It just caught me off guard. He asked if someone else had already told us, and I said no, that I'm just familiar with it. The intestine can basically fold into itself telescope style, can lead to poor blood circulation and death of intestinal issue... It would require surgery, so of course when he said that, I freaked a bit. He said the other thing was possible soft tissue mass (tumor). OMG. So then he says.... BUT... Calvin's belly is soft, he doesn't curl up in pain when you touch it, he doesn't look too dehydrated... The ultrasound could wait until tomorrow if you want to go home, sleep, and have his pediatrician order it tomorrow. UMM... As one of my techs always says, "Hell to the no!" Hahaha... So anyway, he said he totally understood if we were not comfortable with that option, and we could do the ultrasound on the spot, but it was somewhere in the realm of 2am by this point, and they'd have to call someone from radiology in. I started tearing up just a bit and told him I'm just not comfortable leaving without knowing if he's got one of those horrifying things going on. So he said no problem, and we got the ultrasound ordered. But that point, I hadn't pumped in like 8 hours, so I went to a private sitting room for parents. It didn't lock, but there was a little slider I could move to say "occupied". The room had a floor-to-ceiling window and was on the ground floor. I turned off the big light and used a small table lamp and a nursing cover, and it was fine. The room was just outside the emergency dept, and you had to have an employee unlock the door to get you back in, so after I pumped, I was heading to the lobby to get someone to let me in. I happened upon the nurse who had been ushering us from room to room for the xrays, etc. She told me they had gone back for the ultrasound already and told me how to get in there and what room he was in. By the time I got there, they were done. DH said she showed up RIGHT after I left to pump (it always goes that way, huh?). So anyway, then it was just more waiting. The nurse finally came to tell us the ultrasound looked normal and they would get us ready to go home... Said it was maybe just a bug and just to keep him hydrated and see his ped in 2 days. We didn't get home till 5 or so this morning. My parents had come to stay with Sean, but they stayed at the hospital until maybe 2 or 3, and Sean was STILL AWAKE. They eventually brought him home and put him to sleep. Things were a bit chaotic for us when they left... Cal got fussy, would not sleep. Ate 4oz and held it down, but still acted hungry (he hadn't eaten in 10 hours). I wasn't going to give him more, but he wasn't calming down and DH wanted to... So he drank another ounce and puked it all back up. This morning, DH gave him a small bit, 1.5 ounce... Instantly vomited back up. I went and got him some pedialyte and am just trying an ounce an hour for a while. he kept down an ounce at noon, and we just gave him one around 1... He's acting like he does before he vomits, so i worry this one will come back up. He also just had another huge bowel movement, a bit watery... ughhhhh.... Sad

pico83 (not verified)

Mary - :bighug: You just can't catch a break, can you? I'm glad the u/s looked normal. I hope it's just a nasty bug and passes quickly.

AFM: I just met an even more exciting family! There are 3 kids, a girl and 2 boys and their ages are just over 4, almost 3, and almost 1. The mom works 3 days a week, but at least that's better than full time. They were in the yard so we stopped and played for a while and her parenting seemed similar to mine. We're going to try to get together on Mondays. I so hope it works. They're right on my street, too!

Katie - Glad your dog is home safe and sound. Yay for finding the foster dogs homes.

Mary - Hope most of your six days were good and that the boys feel better soon.

Virginia - Nice to hear you found someone to hang out with that has kids. Good luck PTing Alex.

*AFM*

I didn't get around to writing a note to Natalie's school but this morning when I dropped Natalie off I saw they moved her hook, so I asked if they had changed her class, I was told they did not, she was still upstairs with Miss B. so I asked if her friends E & A were up there with her, again I got a no, I left furious. I get into work and my phone rings, I answer and it's the coordinator, she asks if I'd like to talk to her about Natalie and her alocation in the school. We talked it over I told her my concerns, Dana had 2 sets of stitches before the age of 5 at ground level (no ones fault accidents happen) I didn't want my 2 & 1/5 year old in a room upstairs its an accident waiting to happen. Anyway she said she will move Natalie to Miss C's room (yup the teacher I wanted), on the main floor, she will be the youngest but she thinks that Natalie will fit in well anyway. Only down side is she isn't with her friends from the Sr Todder room. I'm happy with the situation since I am not fearful for Natalie's wellness.

Amanda - I'm glad you got the situation with Natalie's school taken care of... That will be a relief. I hope she likes her new room/teacher.

Virginia - Yay for meeting new people with kiddos! It's sad... I haven't even bothered trying to meet anyone around here because our neighborhood has suuuuuch a high turnover rate. It must be this stupid economy or something, but there are a godawful number of foreclosures/short sales (including the house next door that has almost been empty two years now). I just saw another house emptying out down the street when I was on my way home from picking up some stuff at the grocery store. For that matter, we'd like to sell our house also, so yeah... I just haven't even bothered trying to meet anyone around here. I would like for Sean to have some friends to play with though... Learn some social skills, haha. Although, I will say... I found at the Thomas the Train thing that Sean is actually pretty well-behaved by comparison to some other kids. He can get loud and throw a tantrum like no other, don't get me wrong... But I saw some of the kids there doing things that were just mean-spirited, and it made me feel sad. *Sigh* Anyway, sorry I got off on a tangent, lol...

AFM - Cal still isn't feeling well at all... Poor thing. I think he has fussed/cried more in the last day than in all his days since birth combined. Sad thing is, I can still remember many days when Sean was crankier for no reason at all, haha. Even when sick, this baby is so zen. To the point that it scared me last night... He would just lay there flat on his back, which is so unlike him. Normally if you lay him down, he does one of two things... Rolls over to his belly and starts trying to crawl/play, or starts fighting you a bit because he knows it's time to sleep and he doesn't want to. He did neither... Just lay there flat. So sad... He hasn't vomited since we started a little pedialyte at noon. I've been doing an ounce an hour for 5 hours now, and at 4, we also gave him a half-ounce of BM. You can tell the poor kiddo is starving. I just don't want to overdo it and start him on the vomiting again. Sad

It was two months ago today that we had Sean to the hospital for the seizure. Since then, we've had Sean diagnosed with the multiple food allergies, Peanut hospitalized and on IV's for vomiting/diarrhea, Cal to the ER with vomiting... These little ones are going to be the death of me, I swear it!! And I say I want four??? Eek... Let me rethink that for a bit. Wink Throw in there the recent deaths of my grandpa and DH's grandma, and I'm about to my limit. I'm starting to think I'd be a good candidate for valium, lol.

At the grocery store, I bought some yummy pumpkin cake from the bakery with cream cheese icing and three different quarts of ice cream (one of which was pumpkin pie flavor... sensing a theme?)... LOL, coping food? I balanced it out with a bunch of fruits/veggies, so it's all good, right? Wink

Mary - glad he's been keeping the pedialyte down!

AFM: TMI I was just playing a board game with Raymond and had the following conversation with myself: "Ugh, I hate O pains... O pains? I shouldn't have those!" Went to the bathroom to check CM: EWCM. "Umm... when did we last DTD" counted days. It didn't take long. "2 days. Not even. Hmm..." Well, usually I get 7 days of increasing O pain and 4-5 days of EWCM, so I'm not too worried. I think I might keep an eye on my temp for a little bit, though.

I've had a bit of (brown) spotting. It happened on 9/1 and again this morning. It was more the first time, but I NEVER spotted with Claire's pregnancy. So I'm nervous!

I called the triage nurse this morning and she called me back. No more DTD until after my ultrasound. It was scheduled for 9/22, but after talking to Dr. P, it got moved to THIS WEDNESDAY!

I'll be 5w, 6d on Wednesday, so I know that there may or may not be a heartbeat yet.

Please send some positive thoughts! I'm a nervous wreck!

Laura - Best of luck to you. I'm happy to hear they bumped up your u/s! I'm living proof that it can go either way, so try not to worry too much since it is out of your hands. I'm also living proof that it's easier said than done. Wink I will send you a ton of sticky vibes... KUP.

Virginia - I'll be excited to see if you had an oops! It's funny, I had a similar conversation with myself last night in the ER. When we took Cal for his xray, they asked me if there was any chance of pregnancy (because we stayed in the room for him for the xrays, wearing huge lead aprons). I said no, but then of course I immediately went to the bathroom and had some EWCM, LOL... It wasn't a ton of EWCM after that initial bit though, so I doubt it was really an O in my case.

Laura - Good luck! I'll be thinking of you and your little bean!! I had some spotting with Owen, and all was well, so try not to worry! I know, easier said than done. But spotting in the first tri is super common! :bigarmhug:

Mary - Glad everything turned out okay! That sounds like quite the ride. I hope Cal is feeling better soon! I was reading about how you said the xray tech asked about possible pregnancy and I was like, hey they never asked ME that question when Owen got sick and they did a chest xray to make sure it wasn't pneumonia or something. And then I remembered Owen was only 5 weeks old and yeah, that would have been totally impossible. Haha.

Amanda - Glad you got Natalie's school situation ironed out! I would want my toddler on the ground floor, too! That's silly to have them on the second floor. Totally unsafe if an emergency were to happen!

Virginia - Oh my, what would you do with an oops?

Katie - Yay for your doggie coming home! That is awesome!! Can you believe little boy numero dos is going to be here in 2 months?! Wow, time is flying.

AFM - AF starts in 2 or so days and then we will be officially TTC!!! Biggrin I can't actually believe it, really. I got my OPK/HPT pack in the mail the other day, so I am all stocked up and ready to go! I guess all I need now is an egg. And yes, I will be adding a chart ticker to my sig!! I do know how you ladies love to stalk and be POAS pushers. Wink Haha.
