Had Nolan's well-check today. His 4-mo appt, but I had to reschedule it, so he's really almost 5 months. He was 17lb 6oz and 26" long with a 16.5" head... little chunker! It's funny that he was my smallest baby at birth, but is probably about the same size as Sean (my biggest) at this age.

Tomorrow is Calvin's follow-up ortho appointment for his elbow... I hope it's his last... Each time, they talk as though maybe the next appointment will be the last, but then when we come back they find cause for concern. I really hope it doesn't cause long-term damage.

Sean is loving preschool. He comes home singing cute little new songs and talks about his friends, Austin and Carson. Unless there happen to be two boys named Carson, I believe Carson is the grandson of one of my techs at work, so it's cute that they are buddies. I have no clue who Austin is.

I have been totally crazy busy but I have been checking in! I hope everyone is good, yay for a chunky baby Mary!

I finished my last day of work last week and then Saturday my sister got married which was beautiful. Monday I left for NC to find a place to live which I accomplished today and tomorrow I go home and we have two weeks give or take a few days to plan the actual logistics. Kind of mini miracle we found a nice home in a beautiful area willing to rent to us. There are some draw backs...no fence tiny kitchen and old carpets but overall for a year it will be fine. If our house can sell fast we'd love to build but one thing at a time. And let's be sure we are happy here first but hey at least the move seems to be coming together !

Yesterday Natalie's school had their open house, so we go to see the class and see what she was doing in JK. I am not impressed since Natalie is well above the material, probably closer to a SK level, and her teacher isn't willing to change things up for her. What really gets me is she's in a mixed class with both JK and SK students. They have a teacher and a teachers assistant in the class and the assistant sounds like she wants to help but unfortunately the teacher is in charge of the curriculum. I am going to give the teacher a call see if we can get her to give Natalie more advanced material if not I will take it to the Vice Principal.

We started in the class room, went to the book fair and then back to the class because Natalie wanted to. When we got in the room the second time there were quite a lot of parent/students in there and the teacher was on the computer, and the assistant was trying to help the parents out, that just upset me more with the teacher that time is for the parents to meet with teacher she shouldn't be on the computer for any reason.

She is friendly with the kids they have a good time in class but she really needs to figure out her priorities, assess kids get them learning at their level and when parents are around help them out and take care of their concerns. This school is one of the best in our city, only 1 bad teacher in 10 years with Dana and it was her grade 8 one, and yet somehow I got a teacher that doesn't seem to care in Natalie's first year.

If I used the phone system correctly, I left a message on the teachers machine, just said I'd like to talk about Natalie.

Mary - Yay for a chunky baby! I hope Calvin's elbow is fine. My never had lasting damage (I broke it through a growth plate at age 7) although I did have frequent follow-ups for a while.

Katie - woohoo for finding a house!

Amanda - GL with the teacher. We had back-to-school, too. Raymond is way above what they're teaching at his school, as well. They're learning counting and letter sounds. He can add/subtract/even multiply some, and is reading. But, he seems happy. And he needs some social skills, so it should help with that.

AFM hanging out. I think this baby could easily be happy in there for another months.

Once we get to North Carolina we need to figure out something for Evan. Technically pre school is next year for him since he isn't four until December but he has been in daycare since right months old and I think he will be a handful without something part time. Rory can spend they year hanging home with the hubs.

Amanda I hope they can help you it sounds like she is a bright one!

Virginia - 37 weeks yayy! I hope you can keep him in a bit longer. Man your pregnancy felt fast!!

So it is my in between week coming up. A week off to pack and situate things we don't want to leave totally to the movers. Then 7th movers pack 8th they load 11th I fly back home 12th our 8 dogs 2 cats and 2 kids all ride down to NC! Feels crazy but good. I'm happy dh will have some time home and hey no winter. Now just hoping our house sells quickly!

Hello all! I love reading the updates about school for everyone. This is Sean's first year of preschool and he LOVES it. He has mentioned a few friends... Austin, Carson (my coworker's grandson, so that one is neat for me), and most recently he mentioned a little girl named Britt(?) that he rode the see-saw with, haha. It's so cute to see them learn new things.. he comes home singing cute little songs and stuff.

Katie - I can't believe you're moving so soon!! Will your DH work outside the home?

Virginia - Soooo close! It would be great if you get a natural birth after all this previa business.

AFM - DH and I had a little getaway last night, kid-free, for our 5th wedding anniversary. It was nice to have a night not worrying about who needs diapers, who needs milk, etc. We had a spa day like we did on our honeymoon... 80-minute massages, a facial, mani/pedi... The whole thing took 5+ hours... Very relaxing. One of the massage therapists had a family emergency and couldn't come in... Thankfully, they were able to call in someone else... We just had to wait maybe 20 minutes and they let us sit in the sauna for that. It was nice. The spa was at the lodge where we stayed, and we ate at their restaurant too... Spent TWO hours eating dinner, lol... We normally eat as fast as we can and get out of there with the kids... But we had appetizers, dessert, pre-food salads, and probably too much wine, hahaha. It was good.

Mary - That sounds wonderful!! Happy Anniversary!! The goal is to have DH be SAHD. He has some flexibility b/c he's a computer guy so he may do some contract work either for the company he currently works for in NY or for other companies as he pleases remotely on his own time but the goal of me taking this job is for him to basically be home. That might get screwed up if our house doesn't sell or something or he may want to go back to work but between the raise I got and the reduced cost of living it's feasible with a little effort for him to stay home, assuming our house sells in the 6 months we have mortgage coverage for. In an ideal world (ha like that ever works out perfectly...) DH would stay home do some contract work on the side to make a little extra for savings etc and next fall I'd get preg with #3 the last baby and he'd spend like 6 or so years home between the three kids working as he wants on contract stuff. but who knows. The idea of not having to get kids to daycare, deal with sick kids at daycare, pick them up etc is appealing. And there are some really excellent public school magnet options BUT there is no bus to them so it might be worth it to ensure we can do all of those things for the boys. I'm excited for DH to have some time home.

Speaking of that the house we're renting is like 1800 sq ft vs the 2500 sq ft house we live in now. We also have a basement (not finished but very clean/dry good for storage etc) and NONE in the rental. ACK. So we're thinking we might try to room the boys together and leave the 3rd bedroom as a spare/playroom/. We're going to have visitors so having a room people can sleep in would be good and in NY we have a family room & a living room so lots of toy space. In NC we'll have a smaller living room, no family room. So a play room upstairs would be good. I'm just wondering if I'm going to totally regret trying to get them to sleep together....Virginia do your kids share? How do you manage it?! I'm a little sad about losing space but it's a nice rental in a nice area and it's very affordable so once our house sells we'll have a lot of flexibility to save and buy or build exactly what we want. We are thinking if we're happy in the area we may build which would be exciting!
