I started spotting with streaky blood last Thursday and thought my period had started two days early, so I went in for my cd2 b/w. My progesterone was 2.5, which is high on a normal cd2, so they did a blood test and determined I was pregnant, but miscarrying. The beta was 14.5. I started bleeding heavily on Friday night, and continued all weekend and still am now. They retested my beta yesterday, and it went up to 40. Does anyone have any experience with this type of thing happening?
Now I'm worried it could be ectopic or molar...
Mine went up but didn't double (actually, our numbers are pretty similar). It wasn't a molar or ectopic - I was told that a molar would have much higher numbers and an ectopic with numbers that low would miscarry before it could rupture, anyway. Nothing showed up on the ultrasound, not a sac or anything to indicate growth at around 5 weeks. I was offered a D&C or methotrexate.
Given the low risk that it was ectopic (in which case I'd need the methotrexate anyway) and my complete and utter fear of the D&C, I took the shot. I didn't have much pain or anything at all, physically.
Sorry, I don't have any answer to your question but I know how you feel. I am actually experiencing an ectopic pregancy now. My levels increased but did not double. An u/s confirmed a mass in the tube. I received methotraxe injection on Monday and had one hcg test on Thursday to determine whether the levels have dropped. I have to have another hcg test on Monday. This is my fifth pregnancy loss, now I am concerned about my future pregnancy sucess.
As I was miscarrying my hcg levels went up but just slightly. At first I thought this was a positive sign....was optomistic that things would turn around. But a few days later the u/s showed it was too late. However I was not ectopic or anything. The baby had been developing normally.
If they are willing to do an u/s, tell them you want them to check your tubes! I had an ectopic and my tube ruptured because they didn't think it was ectopic. I am not trying to scare you but I just want to make you aware so you won't have to go through what I did. Make sure you ask them about the possibility and if they will check your tubes. Good luck girl!
