Default Candlelight Vigil Chat: Thurs. 9pm EDT w/ Michelle Myers-Walters

There were three things that Michelle Myers-Walters always dreamed of: making music, writing, and being a mother. Michelle has given birth to seven children, although she has experienced eight pregnancies. Her life was turned upside down in January of 2004 when she lost her seventh baby. Experiencing the loss of an unborn child taught Michelle so much more than she could ever imagine. She was inspired to write down what she had learned for other women who were on similar journeys. Her book "I Didn’t Miscarry Her…She Died" will be released on November 15th, 2009 (read more about this book below.)

Join us for this candlelight vigil event (don't forget to light your candle beginning at 7 p.m. in your time zone!) as we learn more about Michelle's journey as well as share more of our own stories of loss and finding a path towards healing. Also be sure to see all of our Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Day / Month events by viewing the announcement at the top of any board page!

As talented singer/songwriters, Michelle and her husband Ron Walters co-founded record company Mental Ward Records. Together, they have produced four albums and have made the official Grammy ballot in 8 different categories.

In addition, Michelle is an honorary board member of Witness Justice, an organization dedicated to helping survivors of violent crimes. She currently writes articles on parenting and autism for Oklahoma City in theexaminer.com.

Michelle lives in Oklahoma City with her husband and seven children: Destiny, Diamond, Ron David, Rose, Tyler, Tyson, and Sunshine.

    "I Didn’t Miscarry Her…She Died" (a synopsis)

I wonder who the bright light bulb was that decided losing a baby should be synonymous with incompetent management. By definition alone, the word miscarriage blames the mother for her role in the death of her unborn child.

I Didn’t Miscarry Her…She Died is a vivid and creative expression of what it’s like to lose an unborn child and heal from such a loss. Through a combination of real life stories, poetry, song lyrics, letters, quotes, and personal observations, author Michelle Myers-Walters meets every experience with refreshing honesty and comfort for the hurting mother.

It’s ok to be scared, to have your faith shaken, to be upset at insensitive doctors or ignorant friends, and to rely on the warm arms of family support. You did not mis-carry your baby, and the situation is not your fault. You are still mourning a loved one, regardless of how small they may have been.
