Default How much does chromosomal testing cost?(m/c ment)

Does anyone know how much chromosomal testing costs? As I posted earlier today, I had a m/c and my doctor suggested I have it done, but our insurance said they won't cover it. I can't find any information online, so any info you can share would be helpful.

I just had it done, but haven't received the bill yet.
My doc gave me a ball park of $1000 ish.

Can your doc code it as pregnancy complications vs fertility.
My doc codes things differently to help with my insurance when she can.

As soon as I get the bill I will let you know

Depends. We just wanted it done to determine the sex of our baby and they said the cost could range from $3000-$15000. We passed, obviously. It does depend on the coding. Also, you should check, because some insurance will cover some testing after the third loss. Really, if this is just your first loss, there is no reason the have testing done. Humans are really lousy at having babies. The m/c rate for every pregnancy is about 30% in the first trimester. I know that isn't comforting, but, really neither will answers be comforting either. Having answers isn't going to make it hurt less, and the answers you will probably get will most likely tell you that this isn't something you could have possibly prevented. I hope I haven't offended you, I just want you to know that you will be ok. I know that need to have answers, but even if you have a why, you will still hurt the same. For some reason we think answers will ease our grief, but it doesn't.

I am truly sorry you are going through this. It DOES get better, though, I promise.

My doc insisted I have it done... this was my first m/c, but I did loose my daughter 6 years ago... she was born at 27 1/2 weeks and it was determined that she died of suffication (Long story dr f*ed up and nurse lost liscense)

I didn't really ask more into cost as it was 5 min prior to my d&c.

I will absolutely let you all know the exact cost when I get the bill

I just reread this I was under the impression that insurance would cover it, IF the doctor ordered it. Maybe not, though, but I certainly thought that was the case. In any case, I am certain it isn't cheap. What about genetic screenings for you and DH? Maybe that will give you some answers, and you insurance will cover that ????

    Good luck, and KUP.

Most insurance companies will cover it if it's listed under diagnostic or genetics testing, especially if you're getting pregnant. My husband & I've just experienced our 2nd miscarriage & this time it was twins. My Dr has done everyother test they can think over last 2.5 yrs & can't figure out why the losses. Doing the chromosome testing can help the Dr figure the problem & if the DNA isn't compatible normally they give the female treatments before & during the pregnancy to keep from another loss. The only set back normally is if one of the partners had no insurance.
Trust me I know how you feel about ttc when all you can think is that you're gonna keep miscarrying, but I know god has his own plan for everyone & we need to keep having faith in him for he is the reason we're here. Trust me I know it's hard.
