So 3 days ago my m/s started. And last night i had the most excruiating (sp) pain in my life. I have never been in labor before but from what i thought the pain felt contractions like. Extreme pain in my abdominal area..lots of pressure and tightning. It would come and go every five mins and the pain would last for like like what it seemed to me a minuet long. It happned in the middle of the night the pain was so bad it literally kept me up for the whole 4 hours all this pain lasted. This may be TMI but during all this pain i passed like 4 big clots.
My question is...is it normal to have such pain? My dr did not warn me how bad this was going to be. All she said was to expect some cramping. Also should that have been the worst of my pain? How long do m/c last? Thanks so much in advance!!
My pain was almost unbearable but luckily my dr had given me a pain pill prescription!!! Even at that tho I was doubling up on the doses and still hurting beyond belief!! It lasted all morning then let up for about 2 hours then started hurting again that evening but it was about one whole day of intense pain!! If you are soaking more than one overnight pad per hour I was advised to go to ER!! From what I have heard some ppl hurt really bad and others dont!! Im very sorry you are having to got through this!! You will be in my prayers!! PM me if you need anything!!
I am so very sorry. I had my first m/c yesterday. I would say that my pain was mild but from what I have read it is not uncommon for them to be very painful. I've also read that it can take weeks for a woman to miscarry. I too had several large clots and that was when I knew. And the pain i had before I passed the clots was the most intense the pain got for me.
I am so sorry for your loss. From what i have seen other ladies write on here they say that with a m/c you go into labour too soon. So the tightenings and pain you felt were the contractions, and they can be very painful.
So very sorry for your loss and the pain you're going through, mentally and physically. I hope you get through it quickly. Don't hesitate to ask your doc for stronger pain meds if you need them. I didn't ask, and I totally should have. My doc also suggested the hot water bottle to ease the pain.
My experience, in case it's helpful (TMI danger): I'm at the tail end of my m/c. Started 9 days ago, in terms of fresh bleeding (started last Fri). The cramps started Mon afternoon. This time the pain was worse (more intense, lasted longer) than during my m/c #1, where I hadn't been as far along. I had not just the cramps, but lower back pain and calf cramps (I ALWAYS get those on day 1 of AF, so I'm used to that). The pain lasted for 4.5 days, on and off, and I didn't go to work the entire time. I took a lot of advil (800 mg, every 4 hours during the worst times). Every time the pain was really bad, I passed large clots soon after. In retrospect, I should've called my doc and asked for stronger pain meds.
Friday I had the most intense pain so far, sudden and nonstop, and only 2 hours after taking advil, so I couldn't take more. I left a msg for my doctor because I was ready to pass out. I was literally just rolling around on the floor. TMI: I finally sat on the toilet because that position seemed to lessen the pain a bit, and a while later a big clump of tissue suddenly popped out. It was the sac and freaked me out (it's still haunting me). The pain subsided almost instantly. My doc called me back soon after this happened and when I told her what happened, she told me that I passed the tissue, it made sense that I'd been in so much pain immediately prior because my cervix was probably dilating and my body was expelling, and that I'd probably be much better now. She was right.
I'm still bleeding, but the pain is mostly gone - twinges here and there, and passing a few tiny clots, but am not needing any advil.
I am so sorry you lost your baby. I did too on Tuesday but had only mild contractions, the baby passed first with some water (no blood - was really weird), then the clots too. But no pain passing the baby or the clots - thank god!!!! Those clots were huge - they were for you too?
How long have you been bleeding? Is it like a period or do you still have some cherry blood? I am so lost and so freaking glad I saw your post! Mine keeps coming and going. Almost 6 days now - totally painless. But is yours changing back and forth the cherry blood? (It's like I got a cut in there - its so crazy).
Let me know and so sorry for your loss. Trust me, I am feeling it too. No shower, I look gross and I can't seem to get out of my emotional funk sometimes.
Thank you for sharing your situation with me - I really need to hear something from someone in my shoes.
I've had 2 m/c now, one in Nov. 06 and one in Feb 07. With both I bled for about two weeks... for the first week and a half it was fairly heavy and bright red. My doc also told me that if I soaked more than one pad an hour to call and go in to be checked out at the ER. Both of my m/c's were painful, the second more than the first... I called my doc and got a script for vicodin around the 5th day of the second one. The first one I didn't need a prescription, I just took 800mg of motrin. If you feel that you need something more don't hesitate to call your doc and get something. Some people have more pain than others. Anybody can feel free to PM me if you have any questions or if you just need to talk.
My question (asked the doc over and over and keep getting "you won't bleed to death" even when i bled all over the floor) how much is too much bleeding? Right now at almost 6 days post-m/c it is like a heavy period off and on. it totally stops and starts again.
I know each woman is different, but anyone that can compare to this please let me know. this is such a hard time for all of us, and then we bleed like this. distressing
My doc told me it is normal to bleed like a heavy period for about a week give or take a day or so either way then you should start to notice it tapering off some and bleed for about another week! Mine also would start and stop! So sorry you have to go through this!!
You know, I had to call my insurance just now to ask for advice lol. How sad is that? She told me everything is normal, and that the bleeding stops and starts every day like this. My vitals are strong, and not to worry.
