    Default Period after m/c?

I'm looking for opinions. I had a m/c about 2 weeks ago (March 22) at 6.5 weeks. The bleeding lasted about 3 days and one week later (March 31) I had my HcG levels tested again and was told that they had returned to 0. This past Sunday, (April 6) I got what appears to be my AF? Is this possible? From what I understand it shouldn't come for 4 - 7 weeks after a m/c. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can only speak from my experience, but I think what you're going through is normal. I endured 4 m/c's and the patterns of bleeding & AF afterward differed. My ob/gyn pointed out to me that after the m/c, my reproductive organs had just gone through a very big ordeal, and that it takes a while for things to settle down and 'right themselves'. I'm glad to report that things returned to normal for me, each time, in a relatively short time.

I found it very reassuring to talk with my ob/gyn about this. It gave me peace of mind to know that it was normal. Please talk with your doctor if you have any concerns. And keep us posted on how you're doing. We care!

    Big hugs,
    Nicole

Tara, I know it might seem early but anything is possible. My doc told me not to expect it for anywhere from 4-8 wks but that it didn't mean it wouldn't happen. I, too, am sorry for your loss.

I was more than 15 weeks along and it only took 4 weeks (I think). I bled on and off doe 4 weeks, then it got heavy like a period on about day 30. It is always hard to now for sure if the bleeding is AF or still PP bleeding from the m/c. A close friend of mine suffered three m/cs a she said she had AF right at 4 weeks all three times. (As if the m/c itself was just a period, KWIM, and was day 1).

It's hard to know, but it wouldn't surprise me. It also wouldn't surprise me if the bleeding just started again.

With my first m/c, I had a D&C and didn't get another AF for 7 weeks. But, I was also told there's wide variation in what to expect and even though 4-6 weeks is 'normal', other things are possible. I'd just call your doctor and tell him/her to be sure. It can't hurt.

With my first m/c, I had a d&c (9 weeks along), and I wouldn't have gotten my period until about 8 weeks later. With my next m/c (chemical pregnancy immediately after d&c), I got AF back after 6 weeks. Now with this m/c, I'm just finishing up with the spotting (hopefully), and I've been having fertile looking cm just today, so I'm also wondering if maybe things are getting back to normal so quickly. I can only hope. Oh yeah... with my d&c, I spotted for about a week, and had nothing for another week, and then just started bleeding heavy like a period, I passed a pretty large clot, and then the bleeding stopped again. I don't know if that helps.

After my first m/c (8 weeks, natural m/c), my period came exactly 4 weeks later. Now with this one, the D&C last week, I've been bleeding (not too badly) for two weeks actually. I want it over with already!

Anyways, my Dr. also said to be very careful because after the D&C I could "drop an egg" (that term kills me) in the next couple weeks, and they want us to wait 2-3 cycles before TTC again.

Everyone is differnt. If it is a heavy flow I would call it a period.

    Sending hugs!

I had my m/c 3 weeks ago today at 12wks. And I'm starting to get slight cramps like I'm going to be starting. I've been doing OPK for the past 15 days so that I would have a better idea when to get AF, but I never ovulated. I've been very obsessed with starting AF, the idea of not knowing has been driving my crazy. So I've read every article on the net to try to get a better idea. I read that 4-6 weeks was "normal", but 14-60 days was the wider rage. So it is very possible that your AF has come to town.
