Angela's Journal: The very beginning
I just took my first (very light) positive home pregnancy test this morning, and I haven't told anybody yet.
I'm excited and nervous and can't wait to find out from my doctor's office if it is for real. I can't wait to tell my husband either, but of course I haven't been able to get a hold of him this morning.
He is a pilot and works seven days on, seven days off. He just left for work on Sunday so he won't be home until Saturday.
I went for my annual well woman exam on Friday, 5/26 and went back to the doctor the morning of 6/1 for my blood and urine tests. Although the first day of my last period was Saturday, 4/29, I didn't think it was too unusual that I hadn't started my period by 6/1.
When my nurse practitioner called with the lab results (all good), she didn't say anything about pregnancy so I figured that I wasn't.
When I still hadn't started my period yesterday (6/5), I knew I was definitely late. I woke up before the alarm went off this morning and took the pregnancy test. Although it was very faint, it was positive. I got dressed, went to the grocery store and bought 2 more pregnancy tests. I took the second test when I got to work, with the same result.
I just called my doctor's office and because it was less than a week ago when I had my blood and urine tests, they can still retest for pregnancy. (Apparently, they don't do this unless it is requested.) I may find out today for sure, or tomorrow at the latest. I am so ready for the doctor's office or my husband to call me.
I'll post again as soon as I find out what the doctor and/or my husband have to say.
Day 3?--Third Pregnancy Test
I took another hpt this morning, and it is a lot clearer postitive than the last two. I've decided that I am not going to wait a week to go back to my family doctor, but instead am going to find an OB-GYN near my office and go today at lunch.
I can't wait to find out for sure! My husband is happy, but it's kind of hard to be too excited when we don't have a doctor's confirmation yet.
Right now, he's making comments like, "No more Taco Bell for you." I asked why, and he said it's because it's not healthy. That's sweet, I guess.
Also, "You're not going to gain 50 pounds, right?" That's not so sweet. "Find out if you can exercise." Well, at least I can see where his mind is on all of this!
I think he finally understood that, if I am pregnant, I can't clean out the litter box. Of course, he also thought the next words out of my mouth were going to be that I wasn't able to do laundry! Men are silly!!
Guess I better go for now, and try to find an OB-GYN near my office on our insurance plan! Wish me luck!
My 1st Family Visitor to My Site
My mom e-mailed me that she read my online journal. I really like writing about the pregnancy because it is all that I seem to think about.
My husband and I used to tease my sister when she was pregnant with her first child about her unborn baby named "Cletus the Fetus". My husband would probably correct that to "Cletus da Fetus"; anyways, I learned this morning that our baby-to-be isn't even a fetus yet! He/She is still an embryo for 2 more weeks and a day.
